Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 343 - 333: The Crimson Alliance 14

Just as Moira Lynch was still wondering how to make the most of her "Luck Amplification" blessing, a sudden commotion erupted ahead.

Hearing the noise, Moira Lynch thought Snow and the others had found another large group of wounded, so she hurried over.

But when she got there, she didn’t see any wounded. Instead, she saw a gigantic spaceship.

Somehow, Snow and his group had managed to haul the massive spaceship over by hand.

Moira Lynch’s gaze fell to the underside of the ship, where she saw a flat stone.

[Sky Isle Floatstone: A type of stone produced on a Sky Isle. It is capable of floating in the air and, after processing, can be made into a special trailer for towing massive objects.]

One of them saw Moira Lynch approach and said, "We were hoping to surprise you, but you got here so fast."

It was only then that Moira Lynch realized the giant spaceship was a gift for her.

They knew Moira Lynch collected the wreckage of spaceships and Mechas from the battlefield to sell, so when they found this almost perfectly intact ship, they brought it straight to her.

Just then, Ellers walked down from the ship, pulling off his gloves. "Aside from the engine," he said, "this ship is almost completely intact."

Moira Lynch looked at the enormous spaceship before her, her eyes stinging. "But... it looks a bit different from the others I’ve seen."

The previous ships, even the heavily damaged ones, could still be identified by their shape as Combat Spaceships. But this one...

It was like the difference between a fighter jet and a passenger plane.

Ellers explained, "That’s because this is a logistics support ship. It’s specifically used to transport supplies during battles."

Hearing this, Moira Lynch nodded. ’A logistics ship is a logistics ship,’ she thought. ’It’s better than nothing. I can’t be picky.’

Besides, a logistics ship meant it should be loaded with supplies.

To Moira Lynch’s relief, the ship was indeed full of supplies. But looking at the disgusted expressions on everyone’s faces, she wondered, ’Aren’t these supplies food?’

Moira Lynch looked at the black, rectangular block in her hand, her face a mask of confusion.

But she had clearly seen the packaging say it was food.

’Energy Blocks.’ She had made Energy Blocks with a machine before, but never one this large. ’What are the ingredients?’ she wondered.

Driven by curiosity, Moira Lynch brought the black Energy Block to her nose and sniffed. It had no smell.

"Patience, what are the ingredients in these Energy Blocks?"

[Scanning...]

Three seconds later, the scan was complete.

[Analysis complete. Contents: 98% Stellar Protozoa, with small amounts of water and minerals.]

"Stellar Protozoa? What are those?"

The name gave Moira Lynch a bad feeling.

Sure enough, her bad feeling was quickly confirmed.

[Stellar Protozoa: A species of insect-like creature rampant throughout the galaxy, classified by The Interstellar Federation as a most dangerous species. Their powerful reproductive capabilities make them nearly impossible to eradicate.

Stellar Protozoa are asexual. Even a single one can reproduce rapidly.

Furthermore, research has shown that when Stellar Protozoa sense a rapid decrease in their population, they enter a state of frenzied reproduction.]

After hearing Patience’s explanation, Moira Lynch looked at the thing in her hand and felt a wave of nausea.

She dropped it, took a wet wipe from her storage space, and cleaned her hands.

Just then, Ellers walked over, pushing a machine.

Moira Lynch looked at the machine. It looked like an enlarged version of an Energy Block Manufacturing Machine.

This time, before Moira Lynch could ask, Ellers spoke up. "The thing you were just holding was made with this machine."

’Of course,’ flashed through Moira Lynch’s mind.

"Don’t they have nutrient liquid? Why would these pirates eat this stuff?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.

Since this was a pirate ship, the people eating those black blocks must have been pirates.

Seeing Moira Lynch’s confused expression, Ellers explained, "Food is food. Don’t be put off that these black blocks are made from Stellar Protozoa; they’re actually very clean and nutritious. Most importantly, they’re cheaper to produce than nutrient liquid. Some lower-ranking pirates rely on this stuff to survive."

"Besides, it has one advantage that nutrient liquid doesn’t."

"What’s that?" Moira Lynch asked.

"It tastes better than nutrient liquid."

Hearing Ellers’s words, Moira Lynch’s eyes widened in shock. "This stuff... tastes good?"

Ellers nodded. "Nutrient liquid is notoriously awful. But these black blocks are flavorless. You eat them with seasoning, so they taste like whatever seasoning you use."

In the end, Ellers found several dozen of these machines on the ship. He took one for himself.

The special technique of turning Stellar Protozoa into black Energy Blocks was unique to pirates. He had wanted to study it for a long time but never had the chance.

He gave all the rest to Moira Lynch.

Moira Lynch looked at the pile of machines. ’The thing is, this pile is useless to me.’

’No, wait. It’s useful.’

Back when the insect plagues broke out on Caelus, people had already researched all sorts of ways to eat bugs.

’If I take these machines back, they might actually be useful.’

After storing the machines and the spaceship in her storage space, a new batch of wounded arrived, and Moira Lynch began another round of frantic work.

She was busy until nightfall before she finally had time to rest.

Lying in her tent with patrols outside, she felt completely safe.

Moira Lynch opened her Intelligent Brain and saw that their four-person group chat was flashing nonstop. There were over 999 unread messages.

’There was nothing last time I checked,’ she thought. ’What happened?’

She quickly opened the group chat and started reading the history.

As she read, Moira Lynch felt that something was off.

She had been sent to a hidden level, which was why she wasn’t with the other three. But from the sounds of it, the three of them were in different games entirely.

Hugh Finch had been sent to a planet called Harric.

The people on this planet were perpetually lost in a state of confusion and indecision. Hugh Finch’s mission was to save a hundred such people and help them find their way.

The mission seemed to be a good match for Hugh Finch’s talents.

Shane Rhodes and Kai York were in another game together, in a place with an extreme power shortage. Their mission was also very simple: generate electricity and solve the local inhabitants’ power problems.
