Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 337 - 327: The Crimson Alliance 8
Sensing the malice in his gaze, Moira Lynch warily took a few steps back and demanded sharply, "Are you trying to break the rules?"
Ellers, at her side, glared at the man. "Raoul, this isn’t the place for you to run wild."
The man, Raoul, acted as if he had just noticed Ellers, a look of pleasant surprise appearing on his face. "Professor El! My old friend, long time no see!"
As he spoke, he reached out to embrace Ellers.
However, he was met with Ellers’ sharp claws.
Raoul easily dodged the attack, a devil-may-care look on his face. "We were classmates, after all. After all these years, you treat me like this? You’re breaking my heart."
He seemed to be speaking casually, but Moira Lynch noticed that the muscles in his arms remained tense.
Raoul clutched his chest, feigning a look of utter heartbreak.
’Looking at him, anyone who didn’t know better would think Ellers had done something terrible to him.’
However, Ellers clearly wasn’t buying it.
His expression turned serious as he said, "Raoul, she’s under my protection. You’d better not lay a finger on her. Otherwise, I’ll settle all our scores, new and old."
Seeing Ellers’ serious expression, Raoul finally relented with a shrug. "Alright, I guess I do owe you. But even if I can’t make a move on her, there’s no harm in being friends, right?"
As he spoke, Raoul looked at Moira Lynch, that bewitching smile once again gracing his lips.
’But this time, I didn’t fall into a trance again. So there really was something wrong with what he did before.’
Raoul started by apologizing for his earlier actions. "I was in the wrong just now. Please don’t be angry."
Seeing Raoul’s sincere expression, Moira Lynch’s resolve began to waver, even though she knew he was most likely faking it.
In truth, Moira Lynch wasn’t that angry about what had just happened. She was more wary than anything.
Before Moira Lynch could speak, Ellers scoffed from the side, "Hmph. You say ’don’t be angry’ and expect her not to be? Who do you think you are? You think a simple apology is enough to placate someone?"
"Then what do you suggest?"
Raoul crossed his arms and looked at Ellers, his eyes seeming to see through everything.
At that, Ellers didn’t hold back, pointing to a pendant on Raoul’s waist. "Give that to Moira Lynch as compensation, and we’ll grudgingly forgive your insolence."
Hearing this, Raoul turned to Moira Lynch. "Is that what you think, too?"
’Of course I’m going to side with Ellers on this.’
’This was a classic case of profiting from someone else’s fight.’
So, when Raoul asked, Moira Lynch said nothing. She simply took a small, silent step closer to Ellers, making her position clear.
Raoul took the pendant off and tossed it to Moira Lynch. "There. Good enough for you?"
"It is. You must be busy, so you can go now." Ellers waved his hand dismissively, the phrase "use and discard" practically written all over his face.
Raoul laughed in exasperation, but he did indeed have much to attend to. He’d been missing without a trace for so long that if he didn’t return soon, his crew would likely mutiny.
Before leaving, Raoul added Moira Lynch’s Intelligent Brain contact, saying they must keep in touch.
’A healer with such a powerful ability... Even if I can’t win her over, I can’t afford to make an enemy of her. The only option is to be on good terms.’
Seeing Moira Lynch and Raoul add each other as friends, Ellers protested and insisted on adding her too.
After adding her, Raoul took out an item and said to Moira Lynch, "Little beauty, until we meet again." Then he activated the item and, in a Blink, vanished from before them.
Once he was gone, Moira Lynch looked down at the pendant in her hand. It was pink and shaped like a teardrop, with a blooming red rose suspended within.
’What does this thing do?’
Not knowing its purpose, Moira Lynch turned to ask Ellers.
’Ellers was the one who insisted on getting it; he must know what it’s for.’
Ellers explained, "This pendant is a sort of token from Raoul. If you run into pirates in the future, showing it might get them to let you off the hook. But don’t use it too often; you’ll have to judge the situation. After all, that guy has plenty of mortal enemies out in the galaxy."
"If his enemies see you with Raoul’s token, they might decide to make an example of you."
’Hearing the first part made me pretty happy. It’s basically a get-out-of-death-free card.’
’But after hearing the rest of it, my opinion changed instantly.’
’This thing... if I use it right, it’s a get-out-of-death-free card. If I use it wrong, it’s a death warrant.’
Nevertheless, Moira Lynch put the item away carefully.
As Moira Lynch continued searching the battlefield for survivors, a three-eyed female player elsewhere was arduously digging a pit to bury a survivor she had just found.
She wasn’t doing this to harm the person, but to save them.
The talent she had awakened was called the Earth Healing Technique.
This talent was a type of mutation, a fusion of the Earth Talent and the Healing Talent.
She could turn soil into nutrients, and after burying an injured person inside, she could heal their wounds as if she were tending to a flower.
However, it was a lengthy process.
To save time, after burying someone, she would leave them in place and immediately rush off to find the next person.
’The information for this mission is incredibly vague. It just says to save people, but there’s no required number, and it doesn’t even mention an end time.’
’Situations like this have happened before, but they usually came with a chain of subsequent tasks. It’s nothing like now, where there’s just... silence.’
Just as the female player was grumbling to herself, a voice suddenly sounded.
But it wasn’t the familiar, mechanical voice of the system.
The voice was coming from the badge on her chest.
[Fighting has broken out to the southwest. Both sides have suffered heavy casualties. All nearby members of The Crimson Alliance are to proceed immediately to investigate and treat the wounded.
Repeat!

"Southwest... that’s this way. I’ll go see what’s going on."
Meanwhile, Moira Lynch also received this message.
"Patience, which way is southwest?"
Moira Lynch always operated in terms of front, back, left, and right. She could never get her cardinal directions straight, even back on Caelus, let alone on an alien planet.
[That way.]
Moira Lynch headed in the direction Patience indicated, with Ellers following close behind. He had heard the alert as well.
As they walked, he began analyzing the situation for Moira Lynch.
"Those people The Crimson Alliance mentioned... they must also be here to sweep the battlefield for wounded survivors."
