And he’d almost gotten himself killed in the process.

’What an unlucky guy.’

At that moment, Ellers had no idea that Moira Lynch had already branded him an unlucky guy.

He was still trying to figure out how to get closer to Moira Lynch so he could obtain a vial of her blood.

If he could get a vial of a pure human’s blood, many of his old hypotheses could finally be tested.

To Ellers, Moira Lynch looked like a walking treasure trove.

In any case, rashly asking to draw someone’s blood wouldn’t be easily accepted by anyone. Some people, the types to let their imaginations run wild, might even jump to conspiracy theories.

This was especially true for humans. According to historical records, the original humans were prone to letting their imaginations run wild.

While some were simple-minded, humans as a whole were highly wary of strangers.

Especially since Moira Lynch was the one who had saved his life.

So, Ellers decided to take a softer approach, aiming to earn Moira Lynch’s trust before proceeding step by step.

During this process, Ellers also tried to gather some information on Moira Lynch, even hoping to find a strand of her hair that had fallen out.

According to the records, a normal person loses fifty to one hundred strands of hair every day. This was considered physiological hair loss.

This was still true for The Human Race in the interstellar age, except the number had increased from one hundred to two hundred.

Fortunately, The Human Race in the interstellar age possessed strong physiques and regenerative abilities, so any naturally shed hair would quickly grow back.

Otherwise, thinning hair would be the most pressing problem they faced.

However, no matter how hard Ellers searched, he couldn’t find a single strand of Moira Lynch’s hair.

In truth, ever since the game’s advent, Moira Lynch had been consistently eating all sorts of nutritious foods. As a result, she had nurtured her hair to be lush and glossy.

She hardly shed any hair now, aside from the occasional one or two strands she might find on her pillow after waking up.

Therefore, Ellers’ quest for Moira Lynch’s hair was nearly impossible. But he didn’t know that, of course, and just assumed he wasn’t looking carefully enough.

Seeing Moira Lynch collect all the Mecha and spaceship wreckage they came across, Ellers asked curiously, "Why are you collecting all this junk?"

"To take back and sell for money," Moira Lynch replied without looking back.

"Sell for money? Are you that short on cash?"

He remembered that The Crimson Alliance paid all its personnel, though the salary wasn’t particularly high.

’If she’s that short on money, maybe I could...’

The thought had barely formed in Ellers’ mind before Moira Lynch cut him off. "I’m not short on money."

"If you’re not short on money, then why pick up this useless stuff? These spaceships and Mecha are completely scrapped." Ellers was even more baffled.

’If she doesn’t need the money, why is she still picking up junk?’

"Whether or not I’m short on money has nothing to do with me picking this stuff up," Moira Lynch retorted. "Does the richest man stop earning money just because he’s become the richest man?"

’Besides, who says this stuff is junk?’

’What’s useless junk in your eyes might be a rare treasure to someone else.’

’It’s like they say, what looks like useless scrap might just be a treasure in the wrong place.’

’Look at that batch of broken machines she brought back ages ago. Now that they’ve been modified, they’re top-notch in both quality and function.’

Ellers fell silent at Moira Lynch’s words. ’Would the richest man stop making money just because he’s become the richest man?’

The answer was, of course, no.

Not only would they not stop, they would become even more frenzied in their pursuit of wealth, amassing even greater fortunes.

But he still felt that something was off.

Since he couldn’t figure it out, he decided not to dwell on it. Ellers only liked to get to the bottom of things when it came to his research; in all other matters, he preferred not to trouble himself.

’It’s just a few damaged Mecha and spaceships. If she wants to collect them, let her. I should focus on how to get closer to her.’

What he didn’t know was that while he was busy thinking about how to get closer to Moira Lynch, she was doing the exact same thing with him.

Of course, this desire to get closer wasn’t without its own motives.

Now that she knew Ellers’s identity, Moira Lynch wanted to pry some useful information out of him about the Mecha and spaceships before them.

Ordinary people had no access to this kind of Mecha and spaceship. The most one could find online were a few pictures; any detailed information was nonexistent.

Although she planned to sell them as scrap, who knew if they contained anything dangerous, like unused weaponry.

It was better to figure these things out beforehand to avoid accidentally hurting someone later.

Conveniently, Ellers was a researcher who also collaborated with the military. He must be extremely familiar with these weapons.

With both sides harboring ulterior motives, they began to cautiously test the waters with each other.

Well, one could certainly call it a mutual effort.

And so, for the next little while, the two of them—each with ulterior motives (scratch that) making a mutual effort—got along with exceptional harmony.

Moira Lynch would always feign curiosity, putting on an interested expression as she asked all sorts of questions about the Mecha and spaceships.

While most of it sounded like complete gibberish to her, she had long since perfected the art of pretending to understand things she didn’t.

She would occasionally flash an expression of sudden realization, providing more than enough emotional validation.

No matter who you are or how old you are, everyone shares a particular fondness for playing the teacher.

At first, Ellers had only wanted to get on Moira Lynch’s good side. But seeing how attentively she was listening, he couldn’t help but get serious as well.

At the same time, he wondered to himself, ’Maybe I should take on a few students when I get back.’

Someone had suggested it to him before, but he’d refused, using excuses like being too busy or the students being too dumb.

But after meeting Moira Lynch, that part of his heart, once sealed in concrete, began to stir.

What Ellers didn’t know, however, was that not only had Moira Lynch failed to understand a single word he’d said, but the one asking the questions wasn’t even her—it was Patience.

Moira Lynch was merely repeating the questions Patience fed her.

With one asking and the other answering, their relationship instantly grew much closer.

Throughout this process, Moira Lynch didn’t forget her mission. Her spiritual power was constantly monitoring their surroundings.

Amid the wreckage of a Mecha, Moira Lynch found the third casualty of the day.

This person’s legs were pinned inside the Mecha’s cockpit, and they had fallen into a coma from excessive blood loss.
