Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 331 - 321: The Crimson Alliance 2
At first, Ellers thought it was just a hallucination, a final burst of life before death.
But as time passed, the feeling didn’t fade. Instead, it grew stronger, and the pain wracking his body was clearly subsiding.
He could feel his wounds gradually healing.
Gradually healing!
He didn’t know how much time had passed. For Ellers, the pain made every second feel like a year.
Sensation slowly returned to his body, and Ellers became aware of his surroundings again.
Slowly, he opened his eyes and saw a figure in white standing before him, the staff in their hand emitting a faint green glow.
’Is that... an Angel?’
Ellers’s mind was still muddled. He thought he was seeing an Angel, that an Angel had saved him.
Only after his head cleared did Ellers see that the person before him wasn’t an Angel, but a human.
’That uniform... they’re from The Crimson Alliance.’
In truth, Ellers wasn’t fond of The Crimson Alliance. They were always sticking their noses where they didn’t belong.
’On second thought, their meddling was a pretty good thing. He decided he was done disliking them.’
’When I get back, I’m deleting all those posts I made complaining about The Crimson Alliance.’
As a genius researcher, Ellers could identify any race in the galaxy with just a glance.
Looking at Moira Lynch before him, his eyes lit up. She was a pure-blooded member of The Human Race.
There were others from The Human Race in the galaxy, but after generations of intermingling with other races, their bloodlines were no longer as pure as they once were.
While this admittedly made their descendants stronger, in Ellers’s view, they could no longer be considered pure-blooded humans. They were merely a humanoid race.
But this person was different. Ellers couldn’t sense the aura of any other race on her—only the purest essence of a human.
Moira Lynch felt a little creeped out by the way the man was staring at her.
She took a few steps back. "I’ve healed your injuries. You can go now."
With that, Moira Lynch prepared to turn and leave. After all, she had a mission to complete and many more people waiting to be saved.
’Still, it was definitely the right call to win this Priest’s Staff at the auction.’
’The original Machine Wand could amplify my Healing Ability, but after adding that green Crystal Stone, it also reduces my energy consumption during healing.’
’With injuries like that man’s, before, it probably would have taken ten of me just to heal him halfway.’
’The kind of state where he wouldn’t die, but he wouldn’t exactly be well either.’
But now, Moira Lynch had used only a tenth of the energy it would have taken before to heal him completely.
She had just wanted to see what would happen if she went all out.
She hadn’t expected such a pleasant surprise.
’From this day forward, I, Moira Lynch, am a proper healer!’
Just as Moira Lynch was about to leave, Ellers caught up to her from behind. "Hello, my name is Ellers. I’m a researcher. Thank you for saving me. By the way, what’s your name?"
It was hard to be rude to his smiling face, so Moira Lynch replied, "My name is Moira Lynch."
"Moira Lynch?"
’That name sounds very human.’
Driven by his curiosity about humans and colored by the rosy filter of her being his savior, Ellers found that everything about Moira Lynch seemed perfect, right down to her beautiful name.
"You must have just joined The Crimson Alliance, right? And they sent you on such a dangerous mission?"
As Ellers asked, he inwardly cursed The Crimson Alliance.
’This human doesn’t look very old. She must have just recently come of age. Among humans, she’d still be considered just a kid.’
’For The Crimson Alliance to send a child to such a dangerous battlefield... their motives are despicable.’
Moira Lynch didn’t say she was on a mission. She wasn’t sure if she was allowed to talk about the game.
Anyway, the system had said that as long as she completed this mission, she could join The Crimson Alliance. So she just said, "This is my test to join The Crimson Alliance."
Hearing this, Ellers’s eyes widened in shock. "A test? Since when did The Crimson Alliance have a rule like that?"
While they were talking, Moira Lynch found another survivor.
This person’s injuries were slightly less severe than Ellers’s had been, but that wasn’t saying much. All four of his limbs were gone—completely severed—leaving only a torso and a breathing head.
This time, Moira Lynch didn’t heal him completely like she had with Ellers. No matter how much she conserved, her energy was still limited.
After giving him some basic treatment with her ability, Moira Lynch used the Healing Device for another round of therapy, finally stabilizing him. Then she applied simple bandages to the stumps.
By now, the wounded man had regained consciousness.
He had been wary at first, but upon seeing Moira Lynch’s uniform, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you for saving me."
"You’re welcome. It’s my duty," Moira Lynch said softly.
"All four of your limbs are gone, but at least you’re alive, and that’s what matters most. Regeneration technology is very advanced now; your new limbs will be just like the old ones."
Hearing this, the wounded man nodded heavily. Compared to most, he was lucky. He had survived.
Then he came to his senses and asked, "Professor El, you’re here too?"
Ellers nodded. "She saved me too. Your life isn’t in danger anymore. Find a place to hide and wait for rescue."
The man nodded, knowing he couldn’t be of any help in his current state. The only thing he could do was not get in the way.
Moira Lynch, who had found Ellers a bit annoying, suddenly thought he wasn’t so useless after all.
"You’re close with the military?"
Hearing Moira Lynch’s question, Ellers grew a little excited. This was the first time she had initiated a conversation with him.
’But it seems she doesn’t recognize me. Am I not famous enough?’
Ellers made a mental note to unveil another one of his inventions after this was all over, just to give the world a little shock.
"I have many collaborations with the military, so they know me quite well."
After all, if he weren’t so important, a single distress call wouldn’t have drawn so many rescuers, let alone sparked a war.
"Then why are you here?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.
Ellers didn’t hide anything. "My research hit a bottleneck," he said. "I came here looking for inspiration."
