Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 303 - 293: Blind Box Match-Up 8

Moira Lynch first opened a job recruitment app and then searched for the word "Recycler."

Immediately, a long list of job postings appeared before Moira Lynch.

’This is so much faster than searching one by one!’

Ignoring the ones that were too far away and those whose products seemed useless, Moira Lynch’s first choice was always food, followed by various tech products.

After some searching, she chose a meat processing plant that was closest to her.

The meat processing plant was less than a thousand meters away.

Moira Lynch followed the directions and arrived at her destination in less than five minutes.

She hadn’t been idle on the way over, doing some quick research on the meat processing plant.

Unlike Serene Ranch, this plant specialized in processing raw and cooked meats.

Its most popular products were various types of canned meat.

’Canned meat is good. Popular is good. If it’s popular, they make a lot, and if they make a lot, there must be a lot left over.’

Arriving at the entrance of the meat processing plant, Moira Lynch immediately spotted a robot standing listlessly by the door.

Moira Lynch took out her Recycler badge and walked over.

After seeing Moira Lynch and glancing at the badge on her chest, the robot spoke. "You’re the Recycler here for the job?"

It then glanced behind her, dissatisfied. "Why is it just you? Where are the others?"

Moira Lynch realized the robot must have mistaken her for someone else. She didn’t correct it, simply saying, "I don’t know. It’s just me right now. Why don’t you take me to the workstation?"

The robot hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Follow me."

Led by the robot, Moira Lynch headed deeper into the meat processing plant.

As they passed an open room, Moira Lynch saw what looked like various gift boxes being packed inside.

’Could those be mystery boxes?’

She asked, "Were those mystery boxes being packed back there?"

The robot replied, "Of course. We at the meat processing plant have to keep up with the trends, too."

After about a ten-minute walk, the robot led Moira Lynch to the plant’s warehouse.

Moira Lynch took a quick glance around. The warehouse was piled high with all sorts of canned goods.

She checked the production dates. Unsurprisingly, they were all near-expiration or already expired products.

Even the newest ones were set to expire in just half a month.

According to the robot, the warehouse had already been cleared out by a Recycler once before. This new batch had just been sorted.

Every so often, the meat processing plant would accumulate a large number of unsold, near-expiration products.

According to interstellar law, such products could only be sold at a reduced price.

The price could not exceed one-third of the original.

However, some businesses worried that people would intentionally buy only the cheap, near-expiration products, causing their regular-priced stock to go unsold.

Thus, some businesses would rather let the near-expiration products pile up in a warehouse than sell them.

After the robot left, Moira Lynch casually picked up the nearest can.

There was a cow pictured on the label. Clearly, it was a can of beef.

The word "Small" was written beneath the picture.

Just as Moira Lynch was wondering what that meant, she turned and saw larger and extra-large versions of the same can.

’Right,’ she thought. ’Now I get what "Small" means.’

The meat processing plant certainly lived up to its name; the warehouse was packed with all kinds of canned meat.

As quickly as she could, Moira Lynch stored all the cans from the warehouse in her space, then turned, ready to head to the next location.

Meanwhile, the robot had returned to the entrance. About an hour later, a thin, middle-aged man finally arrived.

Seeing the middle-aged man trying to enter the plant, the robot immediately blocked his path. "No unauthorized entry."

The middle-aged man saw the robot, cleared his throat, straightened his clothes, then revealed his Recycler badge. "Can I go in now?"

After inspecting the badge, the robot glanced behind the man. "Just you?"

The man explained, "The others said it was too late. They won’t be here until tomorrow."

Recyclers held a very special status in the galaxy.

Therefore, the robot could only turn a blind eye to the Recyclers’ blatant tardiness.

"Follow me."

With that, the robot led the man inside.

At that same moment, back in the warehouse, Moira Lynch felt her spiritual power about to run out. She quickly downed several vials of Medicine designed to restore it, only then feeling her strength return.

After stowing the last batch of cans in her space, Moira Lynch was ready to dust off her hands and leave.

’I don’t know if I’m imagining it, but my spiritual power feels like it’s gotten a lot stronger.’

As Moira Lynch was leaving, she happened to brush past the robot and the middle-aged man.

The robot recognized Moira Lynch and wasn’t surprised she was leaving. After all, there was a limit to how much a Recycler could collect in a day.

The fact that this woman had lasted for an hour was already quite astonishing.

However, a bigger surprise was yet to come.

When the robot led the middle-aged man to the warehouse, they found it completely empty.

There was nothing inside.

The mountains of near-expiration cans had vanished without a trace.

The robot was the first to react. It turned to the middle-aged Recycler beside it and said, "It seems you’re not needed here anymore."

The man wanted to object, but he opened and closed his mouth, unsure what to say. After all, the robot wasn’t wrong.

The meat processing plant hired Recyclers to deal with near-expiration cans. Now that the cans were gone, they were, of course, no longer needed.

’Damn it! Who the hell is disrupting the market?’

The man fumed internally. ’When I get back, I have to tell the others. Some upstart who doesn’t know the rules is messing with the market.’

’We have to find this person. If we let them keep this up, it’ll start cutting into our profits sooner or later.’

Meanwhile, Moira Lynch had no idea she was already a target. She was already on her way to another processing plant.

Patience had told her that the factories closed at eight, after which no one would be allowed inside.

She glanced at the time. It was already past six.

That meant she had a little over an hour to collect as much as she possibly could.

The next factory was also in food processing, so it wasn’t very far from her current location.

Following the directions, she arrived in ten minutes.

The process was much the same as before.

After a robot led her to the warehouse, Moira Lynch’s eyes lit up at the sight of a room packed to the gills with chili sauce, beef sauce, and various pickles.
