Chapter 389 - The legend of the Gifted Wolf
Chapter 389: Chapter 389 - The legend of the Gifted Wolf
The second Doctor Finn left Seraphine in the VIP ward, he spun on his heel and headed straight back to his office, his mind spinning wildly out of control.
Years of rigorous medical training screamed that what he’d just witnessed should have been flat-out impossible.
Yet he’d seen it with his own eyes, a completely shattered limb healing itself in seconds, no surgery, no traditional methods, nothing from modern medicine. Something ancient, raw, and unbelievably powerful had taken over.
By the time he burst into his office with Voren, Kael was still seated where they’d left him. The Beta jumped up immediately, confusion flashing across his face.
Just a little while ago his Alpha had bolted out of here like the whole hospital was burning down. Now both of them looked dead serious, tension thick in the air.
"Doctor Finn," Kael greeted with a nod.
The older doctor gave him a quick smile. "Beta Kael. You’re still here."
"Someone had to stick around and make sure Alpha didn’t wreck the furniture while I was gone," Kael quipped with a grin.
Voren shot him a sharp look, and the Beta wisely shut his mouth.
Doctor Finn drew in a deep, steadying breath. This was a conversation he never in a million years thought he’d be having today. But after what he’d seen in that ward, staying silent wasn’t an option. His gaze locked onto Voren, his voice heavy with gravity. "Alpha."
The serious tone instantly pulled both men’s full attention. "Back at the academy, I trained Seraphine Walker, the former Luna of the Centenary Pack."
Before he could go on, Voren cut in. "I already know that."
Doctor Finn blinked, then nodded. That woman had become the absolute center of his Alpha’s world because of how she was making it big in the city. Voren gestured impatiently. "Get to the point."
Doctor Finn leaned forward, his heart pounding with the weight of what he was about to say. "Then you should also know about the legend of the Gifted Wolf."
The room grew deathly quiet. Voren’s expression stayed mostly controlled, but a sharp flicker of intense focus burned in his eyes. "What about it?"
Doctor Finn’s voice dropped with reverence. "At the academy, I always suspected Luna Seraphine possessed the Gifted Wolf."
Kael’s eyes widened in shock, but the doctor pushed on before either of them could interrupt. "Her intelligence was off the charts. Honestly, calling her brilliant doesn’t even come close. She solved medical cases that left senior students and even professors stumped. She found solutions no one else could see and studied through the night even when battling health issues due to her pregnancy because she genuinely loved it. She always stood apart."
He paused, memories flooding him with a rush of old admiration. "But I never had real proof until now."
Voren crossed his arms tight over his chest. "Because of what happened in the ward?"
Doctor Finn nodded firmly, excitement and awe battling in his chest. "That kind of power isn’t normal. It matches every historical description of the Gifted Wolf perfectly."
Voren listened with fierce concentration. Until this moment, he’d assumed the Gifted Wolf’s gifts were mainly about extraordinary intelligence. Seraphine’s mind had always worked at terrifying speeds, processing everything faster than anyone else. But healing? Miraculous, instant healing? That hit him like a thunderbolt.
"How do you know?" he asked, voice low.
Doctor Finn took another breath, eyes bright with the thrill of discovery. "When we studied ancient werewolf healing mysteries, we pored over old records. The Gifted Wolf showed up again and again throughout history. Those wolves had exceptional abilities, unmatched knowledge, rapid learning, incredible adaptation... and most powerfully, healing far beyond anything ordinary wolves could dream of. They could repair damage that should’ve been permanent."
Voren’s thoughts immediately went to Burke, that brutally shattered limb destroyed in both human and wolf form, an injury every doctor had written off as hopeless. Yet Seraphine had fixed it without even realizing how.
Doctor Finn continued, his voice thick with emotion. "For decades, no one matching that description appeared. At least, that’s what we believed. Then today happened."
He rubbed his forehead, looking overwhelmed. "To be honest, Alpha, I always thought Luna Seraphine was the Gifted Wolf. I once saw her birthmark, and those bright blue eyes matched every old description. I had doubts, sure... until you showed up with this blonde doctor. I didn’t know what the hell to think anymore."
Voren stared at him for a long moment, then spoke with calm, unshakable authority. "Relax. What we’re discussing never leaves this room." The warning carried heavy finality.
Both Doctor Finn and Kael nodded immediately. Only then did Voren continue. "She’s Seraphine."
Pure relief washed over Doctor Finn’s face, a huge, radiant smile breaking across it. "I knew it. I absolutely knew it." He looked ridiculously pleased with himself, almost giddy. "Oh, Alpha Ravyn is going to regret this for the rest of his miserable life. What a damn fool."
Kael laughed as Doctor Finn ignored him, his excitement surging. "Alpha," he said, eyes shining with hope, "will you make her our Luna?"
Kael laughed even harder, but Doctor Finn stayed dead serious. "I’m not joking. It would be the best decision you’ve ever made for this pack."
Voren’s lips twitched with a rare hint of a smile. Before he could answer, Kael jumped in. "Relax. Luna Oriana doesn’t like her."
Doctor Finn frowned hard, a dozen sharp responses flashing through his mind, none of them appropriate for the Alpha’s mother. He cleared his throat several times and chose the safer route.
"If the Alpha has the pack’s support, I don’t think one person’s opposition will matter much."
Kael pointed at him. "You know there are others who don’t like her either."
Doctor Finn actually laughed, full and confident. "In this pack? Not many." His voice rang with certainty. "Trust me, I hear the gossip every single day. Doctors hear everything. Luna Sera is secretly admired by so many. The she-wolves here see her as incredibly brave. She stood up to Alpha Ravyn, walked away, and refused to take any more mistreatment. Most people don’t have that kind of courage."
His excitement came roaring back. "Goddess, this is incredible. Alpha, when does she officially join the pack?"
Voren’s expression softened deeply, a rare, genuine smile breaking through. "She’s already a pack member. I just want to marry her quietly first."
Doctor Finn looked like he might actually cry, his eyes turning glassy as he pressed a hand to his chest. "Oh, Goddess. I feel like hugging you right now." He ignored Kael’s fresh burst of laughter. "No wonder you’ve changed. For the first time in years, you came back without bringing us another disaster report. This time... you brought hope."
Doctor Finn’s joy slowly faded into seriousness again. "Alpha, no one can know she’s the Gifted Wolf. Not now, not ever. Not even after the marriage." His voice dropped with real fear. "I’ve heard the old stories. The Gifted Wolves were hunted. Most of their bloodlines vanished, either wiped out or forced into hiding."
The room fell into heavy silence. Then another memory hit Doctor Finn, widening his eyes. "Wait... I remember making contact lenses for a she wolf with those same eyes decades ago. She wanted to hide her eye color. She told me she was being hunted, that she was the last surviving Gifted Wolf of her generation."
A chill swept through the office, Voren stayed perfectly still, while Kael’s eyes widened in shock.
Doctor Finn’s voice softened with dread. "If I’m not mistaken. That she-wolf must be Luna Sera’s mother."
Silence crashed down like a hammer. The pieces were finally slamming together in a terrifying way.
Seraphine’s biological parents had never been ordinary omegas, and that raised an even darker, more disturbing question: if they had been hunted, then who the hell had been doing the hunting?
