Chapter 509 -255: What a Grand Formation

A thick, heavy haze covered the entire sky, one that even the blazing sun could not disperse.

Weakened after passing through the thick cloud layer, the sunlight that fell upon the desolate plains took on a strange, gloomy quality.

As far as the eye could see, the plains were overgrown with dense fungi, spreading out in every direction like a dark, endless carpet.

Jagged black mountain ranges undulated in the distance, and what appeared to be great flocks of birds circled above them.

A fierce wind howled past, causing the fungi to RUSTLE like rippling waves.

A pack of Inferior Demons traveled in a group through the fungi, SQUEALING and SQUAWKING as they swung their short pitchforks, striking the fungi along the path as if searching for food.

But just then, one of the fungi struck by a pitchfork began to twitch violently. The next second, a mouth-like slit split open on the surface of its cap, and an ear-piercing shriek erupted from within.

The loud sound carried far across the plains, so sharp it made one’s eardrums ache.

The band of Inferior Demons instinctively clapped their hands over their ears, their faces contorting in pain.

Before they could recover, the surrounding purple and dark gray fungi suddenly shot out tentacles, ensnaring all the Inferior Demons. They were dragged close, and then gaping maws full of sharp teeth opened and snapped shut with a CRUNCH.

In an instant, blood splattered everywhere.

The screams quickly died down, leaving only the skin-crawling sound of chewing.

Not long after, the chewing also faded away, and the area returned to silence in the blink of an eye.

A sudden hunt had thus come to a close.

This was a typical day in Shedakra.

This was the 222nd layer of the Bottomless Abyss, a world of mushrooms and fungi.

Here, Low-Tier Demons were merely food for the mushrooms and fungi. The true masters were the various strange mushroom- and fungus-like creatures.

Any Otherworldly Creatures that strayed into Shedakra would fall to the endless, bizarre sneak attacks of these fungal beings, eventually becoming fertilizer.

Deep within the plains stood a bizarre castle made entirely of fungus.

At this moment, in a hall deep within the castle, Pan Mo sat on a throne formed of fungus, his dark gaze fixed on Zugmoi, who sat at the head of the hall.

Rumors in the outside world claimed that Lady Fungi was a plant-based lifeform, but this was not the case.

Lady Fungi was actually an Otherworldly Creature, but she possessed many traits of a plant, such as immunity to poison, paralysis, transformation, sleep, and stun effects.

Coupled with the fact that the nature of her power was related to fungi, those who didn’t know the truth mistook her for a plant-based lifeform.

Lady Fungi’s appearance resembled an unfinished human sculpture.

Her torso was composed of foul-smelling, flat, and curled fungal growths that happened to form the shapely figure of a woman.

Four fibrous, strange horns protruded from her brow bones, and her hands were tipped with long, sharp claws.

Her lower body was a bundle of coiled, thick, whip-like pseudopods covered in fungus. Her skin was a nauseating swirl of gray, blue, purple, and black ringworm-like patches.

In silhouette, Lady Fungi’s curves were quite alluring, her graceful form stirring one’s desires.

But upon seeing her true face, all such desires would vanish without a trace.

This was the typical appearance for most Demon Lords—always terrifying, dreadful, and even sickening.

Exquisitely beautiful Demon Lords like the Succubus Queen were, after all, a minority.

“The armies of Chenxi City will arrive here soon. Are you confident you can deal with them?” Pan Mo asked in a low voice.

Lady Fungi glanced at him and said leisurely, “Don’t worry. Since we signed a contract, I will certainly fulfill my promise and do everything in my power to help you resist the Wizards of Chenxi City.”

Hearing this, a flicker of light crossed Pan Mo’s eyes, and he said no more.

Based on his understanding of the Dawn Council, Chenxi City would certainly not commit all its forces to this war. They would have to leave people behind to hold Chenxi City and the Turin Plane.

In other words, out of the four Rule Wizards, they would send two at most.

One of them was very likely to be Xi Nan, who had only recently been promoted.

If that was the case, it wouldn’t be difficult for him and Lady Fungi to deal with them together.

The key issue was the mid-to-high-tier combatants below them.

Lady Fungi’s demons and fungal creatures weren’t known for their combat prowess. Against the Silver Light Legion and the Dawn Council, they probably wouldn’t last long before being utterly defeated. At that point, a single failure could trigger a total collapse, making the outcome unpredictable.

Pan Mo believed that Lady Fungi surely understood this as well.

Yet she remained calm, which suggested she likely had other cards up her sleeve.

‘Oh well. The contract binds her, so I don’t have to worry about her not giving it her all.’

Pan Mo mused silently.

‘Once this battle is over, the preparations on the Star Realm side should be nearly complete. As long as I can get to the Star Realm, I won’t have to worry about Chenxi City hunting me down.’

At this thought, Pan Mo felt a little more at ease.

The next moment, he jerked his head up to look out the window, his expression suddenly growing incredibly grave.

At the same time, Lady Fungi also cast her gaze outside, a strange smile gracing her lips.

“They’re here.”

Far from the castle, in the sky above the plains, countless huge rifts suddenly appeared in the empty sky. Amid flashes of light and shadow, towering Wizard Towers flew out, stirring up powerful shockwaves.

Simultaneously, the ground flashed with silver light as hundreds of giant Teleportation Gates materialized out of thin air. They rumbled open, and innumerable troops from the Slave Legions and Golem Legions marched out in neat formations.

In the blink of an eye, the plains were teeming with a dense mass of troops.
