Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 505: The Side of Truth, Rule Origin
Chapter 505 -253: The Side of Truth, Rule Origin
“When did you get back?”
Pei Ze glanced at the two of them and asked with a smile.
“Three days ago.”
Gu Lin sat down, making herself at home. She picked up the tea served by the Water Sprites, took a sip, and let out a long breath.
“We almost didn’t make it back.”
Pei Ze was taken aback. “What happened?” he asked in surprise.
With a Rule Wizard like Annie around, no demon should have been able to threaten them unless they ran into a Demon Lord.
Gu Lin sighed and said, “We were ambushed. Pan Mo and Zugmoi were the ones who attacked us.”
‘Zugmoi?!’
Pei Ze’s expression immediately turned grim. “You mean Lady Fungi?”
“That’s right.” It was Annie who spoke, the Vampire Wizard narrowing her eyes. “Pan Mo has been promoted to a Rule Wizard. It happened just eight days ago. The two of them joined forces and launched a surprise attack on my laboratory. I was no match for them, and it took a great deal of effort just to get away with Gu Lin.”
Lady Fungi, Zugmoi, is the lord of the 222nd layer of the Bottomless Abyss.
Originally, among the many Demon Lords of the Abyss, Lady Fungi was considered to be in the middle to lower tiers.
But ever since she allied with other Demon Lords to eliminate the Faceless King, Jubilix, and seize control of Shedakra, her power has increased dramatically. It’s said that she is now extremely close to the eighth level.
Perhaps having tasted the benefits of collaboration, this Demon Lord actually teamed up with Pan Mo to ambush Annie.
As for their goal…
Pei Ze frowned slightly. “The corporeal body of the God of Decay and Death…”
Annie shook her head. “They took the corporeal body.”
Just as I thought!
Lady Fungi commands the power of fungus, which is a malevolent aspect of the plant rule.
Unlike typical plant rules that lean toward life, Lady Fungi’s power of fungus focuses more on death and decay.
Therefore, it’s not hard to imagine the immense attraction the corporeal body of the God of Decay and Death held for Lady Fungi.
Pan Mo must have used this to persuade Lady Fungi to join forces with him.
Escaping a joint attack from a Rule Wizard and a Demon Lord was more than enough to prove Annie’s power.
“What are you going to do?” Pei Ze asked.
Annie was direct, stating frankly, “I’m no match for Lady Fungi alone, let alone with Pan Mo added to the mix. It’s impossible to get the corporeal body back from them. I have no choice but to give up.”
After a pause, as if she had thought of something, Annie gave Pei Ze a meaningful look and said with a light chuckle, “As for your Chenxi City, however… I’m afraid you’re about to have your hands full.”
A glint flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes as he understood what Annie meant.
Pan Mo alone, having been promoted to a Rule Wizard, was already troublesome enough. Now with Lady Fungi added to the equation, the difficulty of hunting him down had just skyrocketed.
However, Pan Mo was a rogue Wizard from Chenxi City. The Dawn Council could never give up the hunt for him, no matter what.
If Lady Fungi refused to abandon her alliance with Pan Mo, then a battle between the two sides would be inevitable.
A war between a Wizard City and a Demon Lord… how many years had it been since something like that had happened in the Multiverse?
Shaking his head, Pei Ze didn’t dwell on it.
This matter would definitely be brought before the Council for discussion. He would see what happened then.
As a member of the Dawn Council, he now had the power to help decide the course of major events for Chenxi City.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Pei Ze realized that Annie’s scarlet eyes were fixed on him.
“What is it?” Pei Ze asked, a confused look on his face.
Annie looked at him deeply for a few moments before smiling faintly. “It’s nothing. I was just feeling a bit sentimental.”
“When I first met you, you weren’t even a Level 3 Wizard. In the blink of an eye, you’re already a Sixth-level Wizard. I reckon in a few hundred years, even I might not be your match.”
Annie’s sentiment was completely genuine.
After returning to Chenxi City, she had heard about Pei Ze’s performance in the qualifying competition for the Holy Land.
It could be said that he had single-handedly dragged Chenxi City into the top five, securing their qualification to enter the Holy Land.
What surprised her even more was that Pei Ze had chosen the Rule of Space, one of the two most difficult rules to master.
If it had been anyone else, Annie would have undoubtedly thought they were just wasting their time.
Since the founding of the Star Realm Alliance, countless genius Wizards had tried, one after another, to replicate the feat of the Lord of the Star Realm in mastering the Rule of Space. But without exception, they all failed, wasting thousands of years in vain.
Mastering the Rule of Space was no longer just a matter of talent; it also involved the destiny of the era.
The Lord of the Star Realm’s success in mastering the Rule of Space back then was undeniably also because he had been part of the Dawn War—an event that occurs once every several hundred thousand years—and had encountered many fortuitous opportunities.
In the entire, vast Wizard Civilization, there had only ever been one Lord of the Star Realm.
How could it be easy for a second one to emerge?
But when the one who chose the Rule of Space was Pei Ze, Annie found that her inner sense of denial was, surprisingly, not so firm.
After all, the number of ‘miracles’ Pei Ze had created up to this point was simply staggering.
Even Annie herself often felt like her understanding of the world was being constantly redefined.
Mastering the Rule of Space was certainly fraught with immense difficulty, but who was to say whether Pei Ze could continue to create miracles?
What if he actually succeeded?
Especially now, after seeing Pei Ze in person and personally sensing the faint fluctuations of the Rule of Space emanating from him, Annie’s conviction wavered even more.
It was obvious that Pei Ze had gained a great deal in the Holy Land and had taken a huge step forward on the path to becoming a Seventh-level Wizard through the Rule of Space.
Looking over at Gu Lin, her eyes were also sparkling as she stared at Pei Ze, her gaze filled with admiration and awe.
Taking in both of their expressions, Pei Ze immediately understood that they had already heard about what happened during the Holy Land qualification competition.
