Chapter 371: Chapter 200: Breaking Through the Passes and Slaying the Generals
If Yin Yao hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he simply wouldn’t have believed it.
’Who the hell is the real Chosen One here?’
WHOOSH!
A sudden commotion swept through the crowd, interrupting Gong Quanhai and Yin Yao’s conversation.
Confused, the two turned to look and saw that a mirror-like screen of light had appeared in the sky above the plain. It displayed a bizarre arena, where Pei Ze and three others stood spaced out along the edge.
Watching the scene on the screen, the expressions of Gong Quanhai and Yin Yao flickered. They instantly realized this was the fourth level of the Tower of the Holy Ring.
Many Wizards in the crowd had been eliminated on the first and second levels. After hearing explanations from others, they too quickly understood that the screen was showing the fourth level, and a buzz of discussion immediately broke out.
"So Fei Xian, Wen Huachun, and Ye Sinan—the three most likely to win this Battle of the Holy Ring—really did all make it to the final stage. But who’s that fourth person?"
"I think that’s the representative Wizard from Chenxi City, a man named Pei Ze. Apparently, he only advanced to Level 3 Wizard a little over a year ago."
"No way. A Level 3 Wizard who just advanced is in the liquefaction stage at best. How did he make it to the fourth level?"
"The way you’re talking, you must’ve been eliminated in the first two levels. Don’t underestimate Pei Ze. He was the first one to clear the third level."
"For real?"
The sound of discussion rose and fell.
As the Wizards who had reached the third level recounted the events, the crowd soon learned of Pei Ze’s stunning performance and was left in utter shock.
They had thought Fei Xian’s group of three was impressive enough, but they never expected a dark horse to emerge.
And he wasn’t even a Chosen One.
For a moment, everyone was utterly amazed.
Even the Elemental Mages leading the delegations from the major Wizard Cities turned their scrutinizing gazes toward Pei Ze.
Listening to the buzz around them, Gu Yi couldn’t help but remark with emotion, "Pei Ze really didn’t let us down."
A gratified smile also appeared on Mo Weng’s face.
To be honest, he hadn’t initially expected Pei Ze to accomplish much in the Battle of the Holy Ring. It wasn’t until he learned that Pei Ze had broken through to the Level 3 Crystalization stage that he felt even a sliver of hope.
But that was the extent of it.
The Tower of the Holy Ring was filled with geniuses; a Level 3 Crystalized Wizard was nothing special.
Who would have thought Pei Ze would actually cut through all the trials with unstoppable momentum, charging into the fourth level? He was now only a single step away from victory.
But despite his joy, Mo Weng quickly composed himself and said softly, "This is not the time to celebrate. There’s still one final trial."
Gu Yi’s smile vanished, and he nodded solemnly.
Pei Ze’s performance was a delightful surprise, but until the very end, no one would know who would claim victory.
Besides, Fei Xian, Wen Huachun, and Ye Sinan were all formidable opponents.
On the screen, flashes of light began to appear one by one at the edge of the arena.
Before long, the four remaining spots were filled.
The eight Wizards stood at equal intervals, forming a ring around the arena.
HUMMM!
A brilliant golden light suddenly flared above the arena. A giant, clock-like object appeared, but it only had eight markers on it, each corresponding to the position of one of the eight Wizards.
It also had two golden hands of equal length.
Before the astonished eyes of the crowd, the two golden hands began to spin rapidly. After a few seconds, they gradually slowed, finally stopping on two different markers.
The two markers indicated by the golden hands corresponded to Pei Ze and a gaunt-looking male Wizard.
The two were slightly taken aback. Before they could even react, a layer of golden light enveloped them, and they vanished on the spot.
When they reappeared, Pei Ze and the male Wizard were in the center of the arena, standing face-to-face more than two hundred meters apart.
Simultaneously, a roar like a tidal wave erupted from the surrounding spectator stands.
"FIGHT!"
"DUEL!"
"FIGHT FOR VICTORY!"
All sorts of other shouts could be faintly heard among them.
Watching this unfold, everyone—both the eight people inside the arena and the crowd outside the Tower of the Holy Ring—understood.
The final trial of the Battle of the Holy Ring was, shockingly, a series of one-on-one duels between the eight finalists to determine the ultimate victor!
A test that was simple and unadorned, yet brutally realistic!
