Chapter 365: Chapter 199: Red Dragon God Chasssa, the Demon Gate (Part 2)
The objective of this trial was clearly to withstand the might of the Red Dragon God Chasssa and enter the pillar of light.
This was a great test of a Wizard’s Spiritual Power and their mastery of mental protection.
Wizards with strong Spiritual Power and skill in mental protection would clearly have an advantage in this trial.
The surrounding Wizards all hesitated.
But just then, Fei Xian suddenly emerged from the crowd, flying toward the Red Dragon God Chasssa at a steady, unhurried pace.
As he advanced, thick, intersecting black and silver scales, resembling those of a dragon, gradually appeared on his body. A disc-shaped object even grew from his head, protecting his skull like a shield and gleaming with a cold, metallic luster.
"The Serasi bloodline!" a Wizard exclaimed in a low voice.
Pei Ze’s expression shifted, and a strange light flashed in his eyes.
Legend had it that the Serasi were cruel and savage ancient creatures. They resembled lean felines more than ten times the normal size, but they were far more ferocious and powerful.
Their diet included dragons—that alone was enough to prove just how savage the Serasi were!
In addition, the Serasi’s thick scales possessed extremely high resistance to Magic, especially Elemental Magic.
Similarly, the Serasi’s scales also played a significant role in mental protection.
Fei Xian’s pace wasn’t fast, but it was steady and powerful. The distance between him and the Red Dragon God Chasssa was visibly shrinking.
Fei Xian’s actions spurred the other Wizards. No longer hesitating, they all sprang into action.
In an instant, the Wizards each displayed their abilities. Some cast Protective Magic while others brandished their wizardly artifacts, gritting their teeth as they rushed toward the pillar of light.
Aside from Fei Xian, the most eye-catching among them were a man and a woman.
The man was tall and thin, appearing somewhat frail. However, the wind elements swirling around him were so dense they were almost tangible, a clear demonstration of his power.
As the man advanced, the wind elements quickly transformed into a cyan hurricane, completely enveloping him and shielding him from the dragon’s might.
Seeing this, even the Wizards who didn’t recognize the man could guess his identity.
Wen Huachun, the representative Wizard from Silver Stream City and one of the chosen ones most likely to win this Battle of the Holy Ring. It was said he had already mastered the Heart of Wind Element.
The young woman, on the other hand, was Ye Sinan, another one of the top-seeded contestants in the Battle of the Holy Ring.
She held a sapling in both hands, only twenty centimeters tall and a vibrant, glistening green, pressing it tightly against her chest.
A hazy green light flowed out from the sapling, covering her entire body.
The sapling was clearly a wizardly artifact, and one of a very high grade.
Protected by the green light, Ye Sinan advanced as if taking a leisurely stroll, her speed surprisingly a bit faster than even Fei Xian’s and Wen Huachun’s.
The Wizards other than these three, however, were not having such an easy time.
The closer they got to the Red Dragon God Chasssa, the heavier the dragon’s might they had to endure.
Most of the Wizards had a relatively easy time at the start. But after covering a third of the distance, their expressions began to change. They struggled to advance, sweat beading on their foreheads, as every step forward became an immense effort.
Some of the weaker Wizards had already stopped in place, their faces pale and their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
Even Level 3 Crystalized Wizards like Gong Quanhai and Yin Yao began to struggle upon reaching the final third of the journey. They could only continuously manipulate Elemental Energy Particles to envelop themselves and bolster their defenses with various kinds of Protective Magic.
However, most Protective Magic focused on defending against energy-based damage; their effectiveness for mental protection was better than nothing, but not by much.
Magic specifically designed to resist mental assaults was exceedingly rare.
Unless they were preparing to face a specific enemy, few Wizards would bother to learn such Magic.
As a result, when faced with the Red Dragon God Chasssa’s might, most of the Wizards present could only endure it head-on.
This trial was, at its core, a test of the participants’ Spiritual Power.
For Wizards below the Level 3 Crystalized stage, elimination was almost a certainty unless they had some special tricks up their sleeve.
Just as Gong Quanhai was gritting his teeth against the dragon’s might, he suddenly heard a gasp of surprise beside him.
He glanced over from the corner of his eye and saw Yin Yao staring in astonishment at something to their front-left.
Puzzled, Gong Quanhai followed his gaze, and his eyes immediately widened at the sight.
There, about twenty meters ahead and to their left, Pei Ze had somehow gotten in front of them.
At some point, his entire body had become bathed in a brilliant silver light, and he was enveloped in a faint, almost imperceptible Energy Force Field. He moved forward at a leisurely pace, looking as casual as if he were taking a stroll in his own courtyard. It was all simply too effortless.
From the looks of it, he seemed to be handling it with even more ease than Wen Huachun, Fei Xian, and Ye Sinan!
’What’s going on?’
Gong Quanhai and Yin Yao exchanged a glance, and each could see the shock and confusion in the other’s eyes.
’In our minds, there’s no way someone with Pei Ze’s level of strength could pass this second trial.’
’But from the looks of it, not only can Pei Ze pass the second trial, he’s handling it with even more composure than we are!’
’Could it be that Pei Ze has already broken through to the Level 3 Crystalized stage?’
’How is that possible? It’s only been a little over a year since he became a Level 3 Wizard. How could he possibly have reached the Crystalized stage so quickly?’
For a moment, both Gong Quanhai and Yin Yao were in utter disbelief.
They had the faint feeling that they had underestimated Pei Ze.
At the same time, the gazes of Wen Huachun, Fei Xian, and Ye Sinan also converged on Pei Ze.
Ye Sinan immediately recognized Pei Ze as the Wizard who had forcefully carved a path through the ocean of branches earlier, and a peculiar gleam flashed in her emerald eyes.
