Chapter 260: Chapter 157: Battlefield Godslayer, Devastating Slaughter

After Pei Ze demonstrated his terrifyingly overwhelming combat prowess, the Sect Knights and Apprentice Priests began to avoid him out of fear. Only the Winter Frost Priests dared to face him, and only by banding together.

Pei Ze didn’t mind. After all, killing Winter Frost Priests awarded far more merit points than killing the others.

For Free Mages like him who had answered the War Order, any enemy they killed on the battlefield would be converted into merit points, which could be exchanged for resources after the war.

A First-Class Winter Frost Priest was worth 100 merit points.

A Second-Class Winter Frost Priest was worth 300 merit points.

A Third-Class Priest was worth 500 merit points.

A Fourth-Class Priest was worth 1000 merit points.

Even weaker foes like Sect Knights and Apprentice Priests were worth merit points when killed.

As long as he survived until the war was over, the merit points he’d earn would be far greater than what he’d get from slaving away on missions!

The Free Mages didn’t need to worry about how the points were calculated or if any kills would be missed.

A single Wizard Tower could easily monitor the entire battlefield, and the Tower Spirit’s computational power was more than enough to ensure the calculations were free of error.

So Pei Ze was giving it his all, planning to make a killing in merit points during this war.

’An opportunity like this won’t come again easily.’

Just then, Pei Ze suddenly felt a wave of cold wash over him from behind.

With a mere thought, a mass of liquid silver seeped from his back, rapidly solidifying into a metal shield behind him.

The next moment, countless Ice Blades slammed into the metal shield.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Large cracks instantly spread across the surface of the metal shield. An extreme chill radiated outward, causing the surrounding air temperature to plummet by dozens of degrees.

Pei Ze whirled around and saw that his attacker was a tall, thin man with a solemn expression. The five embroidered snowflake emblems on his sleeve were especially conspicuous.

’A Fifth-Class Priest!’

TSSST!

Seeing the tall, thin Priest’s attention completely focused on Pei Ze, a Level 1 Wizard seized the opportunity to sneak up behind him. However, the scorching ray he unleashed froze solid the instant it touched the priest’s body, then fell to the ground and shattered.

The tall, thin Priest glanced back coldly. With a point of his finger, several Ice Crystal Lotuses materialized from thin air and shot toward the Wizard like arrows.

The Wizard’s expression changed. He raised his hand and launched a Fireball to intercept them.

But while the Ice Crystal Lotuses looked delicate, they instantly froze the Fireball solid on contact and continued onward, their momentum unchecked, to strike the Wizard.

Before he could even scream, a series of cracking sounds echoed as thick ice instantly encased his body. In the blink of an eye, he had been turned into an ice sculpture.

Seeing the tall, thin Priest eliminate a Level 1 Wizard in a single exchange, the faces of the surrounding Wizards paled, and they immediately backed away without another word.

Instantly, a wide-open space cleared out around the tall, thin Priest and Pei Ze.

Without wasting any words, the two of them charged ferociously at each other.

The tall, thin Priest made a grasping motion, pulling a block of solid ice from the void. He then hurled it to the ground. With a sharp CRACK, the ice rapidly expanded, transforming into a three-meter-tall Ice Giant that charged toward Pei Ze with heavy, thundering footsteps.

Pei Ze let out a cold laugh. At some unknown point, a layer of lightning had already begun to envelop his body; his Earth Rune had long since been replaced by the Lightning Rune.

A dense stream of silver liquid seeped from his body, rapidly solidifying into a host of silver spikes the moment it separated from him. Their chillingly sharp tips were all aimed at the Ice Giant.

Surprisingly, the silver spikes were wreathed in incandescent lightning, so bright that the mere sight of them felt like it could sear one’s eyes.

Silver Star Fusion + Lightning Rune x50!

This was Pei Ze’s strongest combat form, short of activating his Silver Body!

CRACK!

Amidst an ear-splitting sonic boom, the silver spikes shot forward.

The air was instantly filled with a dense web of blue-white streaks.

The charging Ice Giant was instantly shredded and annihilated by the countless bolts of lightning, vaporizing on the spot!

Without losing momentum, the lightning swept toward the tall, thin Priest like a raging tempest.

Feeling the violent energy rushing toward him, the tall, thin Priest’s expression changed drastically. He immediately cast a Protective Divine Technique. Instantly, a mass of Ice Crystals appeared and enveloped him in layer after layer, forming a solid sphere of ice.

The next moment, countless bolts of lightning descended, striking the sphere of ice at almost the same time.

The violent, incandescent lightning energy erupted, instantly blasting the sphere of ice to smithereens!

However, the lightning had lost most of its power and could no longer harm the tall, thin Priest inside. It slowly dissipated into the air.

But before the tall, thin Priest could even breathe a sigh of relief, he suddenly realized Pei Ze was no longer in front of him.

’Damn it!’

The ominous thought had barely formed when, out of the corner of his eye, the tall, thin Priest caught a glimpse of Pei Ze appearing behind him.

A Three-Ring Spell: Flash Skill!

The tall, thin Priest’s face fell. He tried to turn and defend himself, but before he could move, Pei Ze had already raised his palm. A pale gray aura instantly flared to life and swept over the priest’s body.

The glimmer of magical energy froze him in place.

A Three-Ring Spell: Human Immobilization Technique!

After learning Three-Ring Spells, Pei Ze hadn’t just modified them; he had also selected a few of the ones most frequently used in combat and performed a Magic Engraving of them on his Spirit Crystal.

The Human Immobilization Technique was one such spell.

An engraved and modified spell was far more powerful than an ordinary one. When cast by a monster like Pei Ze—whose Spirit was stronger than that of many Second-level Wizards—its power was so immense that even a Fifth-Class Priest was frozen solid for a full second.

And that one second was more than enough to decide the outcome of the battle!

Pei Ze threw a punch, striking the tall, thin Priest squarely in the head. The violent lightning clinging to his fist erupted, instantly shredding all the Divine Art protections on the priest’s body and completely engulfing him from the chest up!

By the time the lightning dissipated, the tall, thin Priest’s head and neck were gone.

The corpse swayed for a moment before collapsing forward with a thud.

Everyone nearby who witnessed this, friend and foe alike, sucked in a sharp breath. Their mouths went dry, and they were shaken beyond belief.

’A mighty Fifth-Class Priest... killed just like that?’

’He was almost completely helpless!’

For a moment, all eyes on Pei Ze were filled with an unsuppressible awe, even fear.

Pei Ze paid no mind to the stares of those around him. He expressionlessly retracted his fist and charged toward the other Winter Frost Priests.

The number of combatants on this flank of the battlefield was far smaller than on the main front, and there were comparatively fewer experts as well.

Only a few Level 3 Wizards and High Priests were engaged in a fierce struggle.

In the Winter Frost Sect, a High Priest was a rank above a Priest. They were powerful enough to hold their own even against a Level 3 Wizard.

More importantly, High Priests often wielded Sub-Divine Artifacts.

The power they could unleash from these Sub-Divine Artifacts far surpassed that of the Fourth-Class Priest named Maynard, whom Pei Ze had previously encountered.

Even Pei Ze had no desire to face opponents of that caliber.

So he carefully avoided the areas where they were fighting, choosing instead to hunt down Winter Frost Priests farther away.

Unless they were a Sixth-Class Priest or a Fifth-Class Priest wielding a Sub-Divine Artifact, almost no Winter Frost Priest could survive more than three or four exchanges with him.

For a time, Pei Ze became like a Godslayer on the battlefield. Wherever he went, the Winter Frost Priests fled from him in terror.

Gu Lin, who spared a glance his way from time to time, couldn’t help but call him a monster.

"ROAR!"

An earth-shattering roar suddenly echoed from the distance.

A sudden chill descended upon the battlefield.

CRACK! CRACK!

The ground rapidly froze, coating itself in a thick layer of solid ice, as countless snowflakes began to drift down from the sky.

"Winter Frost Domain!"

The Wizards all gasped in low voices, their expressions turning grim.

But that wasn’t all. Accompanied by a chorus of bestial roars, huge Wolf Beasts with bodies made entirely of ice—looking at first glance like they were carved from crystal—abruptly joined the battle, baring their sharp fangs as they charged the surrounding Wizards.

"Winter Frost Giant Beasts!" Gu Lin exclaimed, his eyes widening. "And so many of them!"

As the Holy Beast of the Winter Frost Sect, the Winter Frost Giant Beast was naturally well-known.

The combat power of these Ice Giant Beasts was ordinarily just a step below that of a Second-level Wizard; a typical Level 1 Crystalized Wizard was no match for one in a direct confrontation.

Now, empowered by the Winter Frost Domain, even a Second-level Wizard would find them difficult to handle.

With the appearance of five or six hundred Winter Frost Giant Beasts, the precarious position of the Turin People immediately stabilized.

And Pei Ze, who had been stealing the show, instantly became the primary target for the Winter Frost Giant Beasts to surround and destroy.
