Chapter 259: Chapter 157: Battlefield Godslayer, A Crushing Slaughter
Shouts of battle, agonized screams, thunderous explosions... All sorts of sounds converged into a wave of noise, echoing endlessly over the battlefield.
In a large-scale war like this, the strength of an individual became insignificant. What truly determined the outcome was morale, equipment, teamwork, and adaptable command.
In this regard, the Wizards undoubtedly held a greater advantage than the Turin People.
Setting aside the Slave Legion serving as cannon fodder, both the Silver Light Legion and the Red Flame Legion were equipped with a large number of Wizards. With Wizards acting as communication mediums (using the Communication Skill or the higher-level Wind Communication Skill), orders could be transmitted to any part of the battlefield.
And that was to say nothing of the Golem Legion. These Golems were controlled by Wizards, who could have their orders faithfully executed with but a single thought.
As a result, once the Noble Infantry and foreign slaves at the front lines were mostly spent, and the two sides’ true main forces began to join the fray, the once-balanced situation gradually started to tip in favor of Red Maple City.
The Golems swung their giant fists, crushing one Sect Knight after another into meat paste with devastating force.
Ordinary Sect Knights were only at the level of a Grand Knight, making them no match at all for the Golems, the weakest of which were first-tier Legendary.
It often took dozens of Sect Knights just to barely hold back a single Flesh Golem.
Under the cover of the Golems, the Legion Knights formed small squads and began to exterminate the enemy, their expressions grim.
The Winter Frost Priests of the Turin Army cast their Divine Arts, intending to support their comrades, but in the next instant, countless multicolored spells swept over them like a tempest, causing the protective halos around their bodies to flicker violently.
Left with no choice, they were forced to change targets and begin engaging the Wizards.
The muffled thunder of galloping hooves shook the earth as the Turin cavalry began to charge. They planned to attack from the flanks, using their superior mobility and sharp lances to tear open the enemy’s formation.
However, they were doomed to disappointment. Armored Silver Light Knights and Red Flame Knights soon blocked their path, meeting charge with charge. The two sides collided like high-speed locomotives, instantly erupting into a sky-filling mist of blood.
While the main battlefield blazed furiously, the fighting on the flanks was just as intense.
The moment the horn had sounded, Pei Ze had already wrapped himself in dozens of layers of Mage Armor. Then, without a second thought, he fused with the Silver Star and buffed himself with fifty or sixty Earth Runes.
On a chaotic battlefield, protecting oneself was the top priority. Killing enemies came after.
Only after doing all this did he begin to cast his Magic.
Magic Missile x5!
In an instant, more than two hundred Magic Missiles rained down, clearing out a large swath of nearby Sect Knights.
There was no need to use high-level Magic against these ordinary Sect Knights.
With Pei Ze’s current Spirit level, a single Magic Missile was more than enough to take one out with ease.
Even the officers in the Sect Knight Order—those first and second-tier Legendary Knights—would only require a few more Magic Missiles.
And so, enhanced by numerous metamagic techniques, Pei Ze instantly transformed into a merciless turret, frantically unleashing a massive barrage of missiles and rapidly killing the surrounding Sect Knights.
This scene left the surrounding Wizards gawking in astonishment.
"That number of Magic Missiles is just absurd! What’s going on?"
"It must be Composite Spellcasting, plus spell empowerment and instant casting!"
"Who is that guy? He’s so strong!"
"Duh, that’s Pei Ze!"
"So it’s him!"
The Wizards came to a sudden realization.
So this was the genius Wizard from the rumors. No wonder he was so powerful.
This scene soon drew the attention of the enemy. Three Winter Frost Priests simultaneously launched a fierce attack on Pei Ze. In an instant, countless Ice Blades, ice spikes, and chilling torrents rushed toward him.
Unfortunately, their attacks couldn’t even break through the Mage Armor on his body.
Pei Ze counterattacked with a deadpan expression, raising his hand. A winding bolt of lightning shot out, turning one Winter Frost Priest to charcoal.
Then, his figure flashed, and he appeared phantom-like behind the second Winter Frost Priest, shattering his head with a single punch.
Seeing his two companions killed in an instant, the last Winter Frost Priest’s face contorted in terror. He retreated frantically, trying to create distance, but saw Pei Ze casually swipe his hand. In the void, a complex, serpentine rune quickly formed. It shot toward the Priest like an arrow, and upon contact, it disintegrated into countless translucent serpents that bound him tightly in place.
A Three-Ring Spell, the Serpent Rune Seal!
Before the Winter Frost Priest could break free, Pei Ze abruptly appeared and blew his head apart with a punch.
Killing three Winter Frost Priests in the blink of an eye, Pei Ze’s fierce and ruthless display left the assembled Free Mages speechless. They thought to themselves that he was truly worthy of his reputation as a genius who could even take down a Fourth-Class Priest. Slaying ordinary Winter Frost Priests was as easy for him as slicing vegetables.
"Incredible!"
Gu Lin was also dumbstruck.
No matter how many times she had heard about Pei Ze’s power, nothing compared to the shock of seeing it with her own eyes.
"It’s too early to be shocked. That kid’s power is much greater than this."
Annie was perched nonchalantly on Gu Lin’s shoulder.
Strangely, both friend and foe, whether intentionally or not, seemed to overlook her existence.
Even during combat, enemy attacks would subconsciously avoid Gu Lin’s shoulder.
"Don’t get distracted on the battlefield! Here comes an enemy!"
Annie’s voice snapped Gu Lin back to her senses.
The young woman barely dodged a lance, a cold sweat breaking out on her back. After coming to, she angrily threw a Gemstone, attacking the Winter Frost Priest who had tried to ambush her.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The battlefield was filled with the glowing halos of various Magic and Divine Arts, as ice, fire, and lightning crisscrossed the field amid an incessant roar of explosions.
