Chapter 221: Chapter 218: You’d Better Do What You Say

Bai Zhi was about to answer, but Sang Mo ignored Yue Junxiao. He carried her past him, intending to go inside, only to come face-to-face with the others, who had emerged after hearing Yue Junxiao’s voice.

The two groups stared at each other. It was obvious what Sang Mo and Bai Zhi had been doing. And while they all knew, none of them showed their jealousy as openly as Yue Junxiao had.

Seeing that they had all come out, Bai Zhi’s arms around Sang Mo tightened unconsciously.

Hu Yan stared for a moment, then his brow furrowed as he caught the heavy scent on Bai Zhi. He stepped aside to clear the path and said, his lips pursed, “Take Bai Zhi to get washed up first.”

At these words, Yue Junxiao’s eyes lit up. He immediately scampered over, chiming in, “Yes, yes! I can help Bai Zhi bathe.”

‘Even if I can’t do anything, just being close to her would be amazing!’

‘And I’d get to help her bathe! Just thinking about it is a dream!’

Sang Mo shot Yue Junxiao a cool glance and refused. “That won’t be necessary. I’ll do it myself.”

‘The sight of Yue Junxiao just reminded me of all the times he interrupted us,’ he thought. ‘His intentions are written all over his face. How could I possibly agree to let him?’

Yue Junxiao’s face fell instantly, his puppy-dog eyes filled with disappointment at not being able to help Bai Zhi bathe.

Bai Zhi’s heart softened under his gaze, and she was tempted to agree. But just as she was about to give in, Sang Mo swept her up and carried her back to their room before she could say a word.

The moment they were in the room, Sang Mo pinned her against the door. His deep, dark eyes stared into hers, a chill spreading through their depths. “You just said you liked me. Now that you’ve seen Yue Junxiao and the others, do you still prefer their fluffy appearances after all?”

‘I can’t believe it,’ Bai Zhi thought. ‘I haven’t even had a chance to say a single word since we got back, and I’m already being slapped with such a heavy accusation!’

Bai Zhi’s voice was slightly hoarse. She rushed to explain, “I don’t…”

The sound of her own raspy voice made her pause. She recalled the things Sang Mo had intentionally done earlier, the words he had coaxed out of her… combined with her current hoarseness, her expression grew complicated.

Meanwhile, Sang Mo continued to stare at her intently, as if waiting for an explanation.

Bai Zhi thought of Sang Mo’s tragic past, how no one had ever liked him his entire life. She had only just told him that she liked him; it was no wonder he was so sensitive. She sighed and said placatingly, “I’ll do my best to treat you all equally.”

Hearing her words, Sang Mo’s expression visibly relaxed, though he still let out a proud huff. “You’d better mean that. Otherwise, I’ll be sure to remind you!”

To drive the point home, Sang Mo stared at her and said, word by word, “If you forget, I’ll use other methods to make the memory *unforgettable*! And I *always* keep my word!”

Bai Zhi nodded. She could clearly sense the seriousness in his voice. Although she didn’t know what method he would use to make her memory “unforgettable,” she had a hunch it wouldn’t be pleasant. ‘It’s probably best not to find out,’ she thought.

Seeing her nod in agreement, Sang Mo was finally satisfied and carried her toward the bathroom.

‘Truth be told, I actually love that she’s covered in my scent. But she isn’t mine alone right now. As much as I want to hide her away, the time isn’t right.’

‘Besides, she really does need to be washed. It was one thing when we were outside, but now that we’re back, it’s better to be clean and comfortable.’

‘And I saw her frowning a few times earlier because she was uncomfortable.’

‘Sa Lei was right about one thing: if I want to improve my standing in her heart, I have to make some changes.’

‘Especially since my beast form isn’t as appealingly fluffy as the others. I have no choice but to adapt.’
