Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Julian Fletcher Forces Asher to Confess to Murder

Julian Fletcher’s eyes were terrifyingly bloodshot; he looked like he was ready to kill.

I shoved him away forcefully, panting as I snarled at him. "What right do you have to say any of this? Weren’t you the one who got her killed? Weren’t you the one who told her to lure away the murderer? If she hadn’t died, would you have let her have the baby?!"

"I would have!" Julian Fletcher yelled, smashing his fist into the trash can behind me.

The trash can fell over with a crash. We both went silent, turning to look back at the courtyard, afraid someone inside had heard the commotion.

We only breathed a sigh of relief when we saw a scavenger approaching to pick through the trash.

"I would have married her." After a long silence, Julian Fletcher spoke, his voice hoarse.

It was as if he was telling me.

And yet, it was also as if he was just talking to himself.

"Do you believe in souls?" he asked, his voice tinged with self-mockery.

I didn’t answer.

"That day, I think I saw her..."

I didn’t know which day Julian Fletcher was talking about, and I no longer cared.

Zeke Shaw arrived quickly. Not wanting to spook their target, he only brought Zane and a few other plainclothes officers to approach the house secretly.

They scaled the courtyard wall, secretly unlocked the front door from the inside, and burst in.

Julian Fletcher and I rushed in as well.

Inside, a tall, thin figure was eating instant noodles. Zeke Shaw immediately pinned him to the sofa.

He acted as if he’d known someone was coming, leaning back on the sofa with extreme composure. "What do you want?"

Zeke Shaw frowned. "You’re a suspect in a murder case. You’re coming with us."

The man just smiled and said nothing.

Half of his face was burned, obscuring his features.

But he was very tall, and his gaze was chilling.

Before leaving with Zeke Shaw, he glanced at me.

That look was filled with killing intent.

A chill ran down my spine, and I quickly backed away.

Julian Fletcher frowned, grabbing my wrist and pulling me behind him protectively.

I shook off Julian Fletcher’s hand. Only after Zeke Shaw had taken the man away did I speak in a low voice. "President Fletcher, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now."

"Silvia Lynch, I’m not discussing this with you. Leave Sebastian Lancaster. Divorce him." Julian Fletcher gripped my wrist, refusing to let go.

I tried to shake off his hand in disgust, but he seemed dead set on making me leave him.

"Julian Fletcher, are you sick in the head?" I cursed, then suddenly laughed. "Julian Fletcher, are you addicted to treating me like Cecilia Caldwell? Do you think you can project your guilt over her onto me to salvage your pathetic, fragile ego?"

Julian Fletcher lowered his head, refusing to speak.

"Let go of me!" I struggled hard, but I was no match for Julian Fletcher.

He was too strong.

An oppressive aura radiating from him, he dragged me out of the courtyard, refusing to let go no matter how much I struggled.

"Julian Fletcher!" He threw me into his car and locked the doors.

Panic set in. It was as if I was back before my rebirth.

Julian Fletcher’s indifference and torment had been a nightmare for me.

"Where are you taking me?" I slapped Julian Fletcher across the face and tried to get out of the car.

Julian Fletcher pinned my hands against the seat, ripped off his tie, and bound my wrists with it.

"What the hell are you trying to do?" I frowned, staring at Julian Fletcher.

His sudden madness today was definitely not a coincidence.

’He kidnapped me... what’s he planning? What is he going to do to Asher?’

"The murderer is Sebastian Lancaster. He’s the one who hurt Cecilia Caldwell. I won’t let him go," Julian Fletcher said in a low voice.

’Just as I thought...’

My heart clenched. I struggled violently against the tie. "Julian Fletcher, you bastard! What are you going to do to him!"

Julian Fletcher said nothing, simply starting the car and driving forward.

"Julian Fletcher, you bastard, what are you going to do to him... What are you going to do?!" I raised my leg to kick him, looking at him in a panic.

Julian Fletcher pinned my leg down and gave me a warning look. "Didn’t you want evidence? I want him dead..."

Julian Fletcher was convinced Sebastian Lancaster was the killer.

"I’ll make you watch him admit he’s the killer with your own eyes."

Julian Fletcher’s voice was hoarse as he continued to drive.

I fell silent, slumping weakly in the passenger seat. "What... are you planning to do?"

"He’s a lunatic, so I’ll let him be a lunatic forever." Julian Fletcher was driving toward the abandoned mental hospital.

I suddenly understood what Julian Fletcher was going to do.

’He was going to provoke Asher, to make him reveal the truth.’

’He wanted to make Sebastian Lancaster admit to killing Cecilia Caldwell.’

He dragged me into a small room in the mental hospital and made me watch a monitor. "You don’t believe he’s a killer? You don’t believe he’s a lunatic? Then sit here and watch."

"President Fletcher, everything is ready," an assistant said to Julian Fletcher.

I watched in horror as the lights came on in the monitor’s view. Julian Fletcher was... rubbing salt in Asher’s wounds. He was going to use the past to provoke Sebastian Lancaster.

"When agitated, psychiatric patients can lose their ability to distinguish between reality and dreams. They’ll believe the world isn’t real, and they’ll voice their innermost thoughts," a man in a white coat said grimly.

I turned to look at him, clenching my fists. "You’re Kyle Morgan, the doctor who exposed the dark secrets of this mental hospital back then?"

The man nodded.

"Since you saved Sebastian Lancaster, you must know he isn’t a bad person... Why are you working with Julian Fletcher to provoke him, to rub salt in his wounds?" I demanded.

He fell silent for a long time before finally speaking. "He killed an innocent person. Mr. Fletcher’s wife was pregnant..."

"That’s bullshit! Cecilia Caldwell was never his wife! He’s the one who got her killed!" I glared angrily at Julian Fletcher.

’He’s so shameless.’

Julian Fletcher said nothing. He grabbed my chin from behind, forcing me to look at the monitor.

"Cece..." Suddenly, a figure burst into the room, looking frantic.

"Cece..." Asher had arrived in a hurry. He was calling my name.

"You used me to lure him here?" I asked through gritted teeth.

’So Julian Fletcher’s real reason for meeting me in the alley today was to kidnap me and threaten Sebastian Lancaster.’

"He seems to care a lot about you," Julian Fletcher said in a low voice, forcing me to watch the screen.

I clenched my fists, my heart aching as I watched Asher in the empty room.

As soon as he rushed into the room, the iron door behind him was locked from the outside.

He shouted my name in the empty room.

The lights in the room dimmed. Asher stared coldly at the camera’s position, his gaze terrifyingly frigid.

"I’ll kill you..." he said toward the camera, his voice hoarse and low.

Julian Fletcher sneered and gestured for the psychiatrist to begin.

The doctor hesitated for a moment, then stood up and pressed the play button on the computer.

The lights grew dimmer. What Julian Fletcher had the doctor project onto a screen in the room was everything Asher had experienced in the mental hospital before.

My fists clenched tighter. On the screen, Asher was frantically beating on an iron door, repeating over and over, "I have to get out! She’s waiting for me! Let me out..."

But those people didn’t let him go. Instead, they forcibly tied him to a chair, injecting him with drugs and force-feeding him pills.

In the present, Asher was also going frantic, hammering on the iron door.

The terror of being locked up was enough to drive him insane.

’And on top of that... they were being so cruel, forcing Asher to relive that past.’

The footage on the monitor was too brutal. I couldn’t bear to watch and squeezed my eyes shut.

But Julian Fletcher forced me to look.

On the screen, a doctor took pleasure in torturing Asher...

The Asher in the footage went berserk, snapping the ropes binding him through sheer force, and grabbed a pair of surgical forceps from the table. He brought them down on the doctor’s head again and again.

"See? He killed someone." Julian Fletcher wanted me to witness Asher killing a man with my own eyes.

In the observation room, the real Asher was triggered by the images of his past. He curled up in a corner, shaking uncontrollably.

"You killed someone. You killed Dr. Carter." The door opened, and the doctor, Kyle Morgan, walked into the room, seemingly to soothe Asher. "You killed someone, didn’t you?"

Asher tore at his hair, muttering over and over, "Cece... I have to find Cece."

"And you killed Cecilia Caldwell too, right?" Kyle Morgan was leading Asher, trying to get him to confess. "Tell me, how did you kill Cecilia Caldwell? What did you do to her?"

*(Sob sob, my heart aches for Asher.)*
