After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad
Chapter 111: Julian Fletcher Wants to Kill Asher
Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Julian Fletcher Wants to Kill Asher
I sat in the room, watching Asher on the screen.
I knew that when provoked, he would lose control and self-harm. Hurting himself was his way of punishing himself.
In the room, Asher refused to answer the doctor’s questions. He slammed his head against the wall, as if trying to force himself to calm down.
"You killed Cecilia Caldwell, didn’t you? You shut her in a glass case. I remember when you were in the mental hospital, you liked to collect the bodies of small animals you were fond of. You were afraid that little cat would leave you, so you killed it, turned it into a specimen, and hid it somewhere you felt was safe. And that bird..." The doctor relentlessly pressed Asher.
He wanted to force the truth out of Asher.
"You loved Cecilia Caldwell, but she didn’t belong to you. She fell in love with Julian Fletcher, so you had to kill her. Only then could she be yours forever. That’s why you put her in a glass display case, isn’t it?" the doctor asked loudly.
Asher’s trembling body stiffened for a moment. He looked up at the doctor, his forehead bleeding from where he had slammed it against the wall.
...
I knew Asher was about to break. What was playing on the wall was his past.
Scenes from his time in Hell.
And the doctor just kept up the relentless questioning.
"Julian Fletcher, let me go." I stared at Julian Fletcher with hatred, my eyes turning red.
"He’s just a lunatic! What’s so good about him?!" Julian Fletcher seemed to be losing control too. He pointed at the screen, forcing me to watch. "He ends up killing everything he likes. If you don’t leave him... you’ll meet the same fate."
I glared angrily at Kyle Morgan, who was still provoking Asher, trying to force him to admit he was a murderer while in such a state.
’They’re all lunatics.’
"Julian Fletcher, you’re the one who caused Cecilia Caldwell’s death..." I said in a low voice, trying to distract Julian Fletcher.
He looked away as if in pain, his eyes fixed on the screen.
He needed to hear Asher admit with his own mouth that he had killed Cecilia Caldwell...
While Julian Fletcher was distracted, I raised my hands and bit through the tie binding them. Then, I grabbed a nearby club and swung it at his head.
It was my first time hitting someone, so I was still a little scared.
I probably didn’t use enough force, because Julian Fletcher wasn’t knocked out. He fell to the ground, touched the blood on his forehead, and the mood turned dangerously grim.
I took a step back, turned, and ran.
...
「The Room.」
Kyle Morgan was still pressuring Asher.
"You’ve been in love with Cecilia Caldwell for years. Back in the mental hospital, you were always shouting her name. So you’ve been planning to kill her all along, right?"
Kyle Morgan saw Asher’s eyes suddenly darken and took a frightened step back.
Asher remained silent. The moment Kyle Morgan retreated, he suddenly shot out a hand, grabbed his collar, and yanked him forward.
His voice was hoarse and low as he spoke in a volume only the two of them could hear. "It wasn’t..."
With a sudden burst of force, Asher slammed Kyle Morgan’s head against the wall, knocking him unconscious.
Wiping away the blood that trickled to the corner of his eye, Asher got up and smashed the projector on the wall, his gaze falling coldly on the security camera.
When I burst through the door, Asher’s gaze was still icy.
The moment he saw me, the coldness in his eyes vanished, replaced by a look of grievance.
He just stood there, so aggrieved that his shoulders were trembling slightly.
"Cece..."
He called out my name, his head bowed as tears fell like pearls, drop by drop, soaking the gray hoodie he wore.
I froze, staring at him, at the utter mess in the room, and at the unconscious Kyle Morgan.
"Cece... I didn’t kill anyone." He looked up, and the first thing he said to me was that he hadn’t killed anyone.
"Let’s go home." My thoughts were a tangled mess, but I quickly walked over and took Asher’s hand.
He followed me with his head down, sobbing softly.
I was still worried. I reached out, pushed aside his bangs, and looked at the gash on his forehead. "Does it hurt?"
Asher nodded, his eyes red. Tears streamed down his face as if they were worthless.
For some reason, my heart clenched painfully.
Those eyes were just too innocent.
There was no way I could connect them with a murderer.
"Don’t hurt yourself anymore," I said, carefully wiping away his blood before taking his hand to leave.
Outside the door stood Julian Fletcher’s bodyguards.
Asher instantly became wary, pulling me behind him like a wild beast ready to tear its prey apart at any moment.
"You’d rather believe a mental patient than believe me?" Julian Fletcher walked over, wincing as he wiped the blood from his forehead. "Silvia Lynch, you really are becoming more and more like Cecilia Caldwell."
I watched Julian Fletcher warily. "What are you trying to do?"
"Sebastian Lancaster, you killed Cecilia Caldwell because you hated her. You hated her for forgetting you, didn’t you?" Julian Fletcher demanded in a low voice.
Asher remained in front of me, watching Julian Fletcher with vigilance. "You were the one who deceived her... You’re the one who deserves to die."
Julian Fletcher sneered. "It seems you won’t give up until you see the Flavis River."
Seeing Julian Fletcher step back and signal his bodyguards forward, my heart seized. ’What the hell is he playing at?’ "What are you trying to do..."
I moved to shield Asher, but he had brought too many men.
Asher was a skilled fighter, but he was struck hard from behind in a sneak attack.
I was held back by Julian Fletcher’s men, my eyes red with panic. "Julian Fletcher!"
"He’s a lunatic. When he’s provoked, he could smash things, hurt people, kill someone, or even commit suicide. Anything is possible." Julian Fletcher’s voice was low as he looked at Asher, who was pinned to the floor. "He’s a mental patient. Even if he dies... so what?"
"Julian Fletcher... let him go!" I struggled in panic. Seeing that Julian Fletcher was serious, I guessed what he was about to do.
He was going to throw Asher off the building.
"Julian Fletcher... what will it take for you to let him go?" I asked, my voice hoarse.
’Julian Fletcher didn’t just want revenge for Cecilia Caldwell; he was doing this for his own pathetic, fragile pride. He’s just running from the fact that he’s the one who caused her death.’
Julian Fletcher looked at me coldly, his voice low. "Unless Cecilia Caldwell can come back to life... he must die."
I took a deep breath and looked at Julian Fletcher. "You’re the one who most deserves to die..."
"Police!" Just as Julian Fletcher’s men were about to drag Asher away, officers burst in.
Julian Fletcher frowned, looking at Asher.
The look Asher gave Julian Fletcher was full of defiance.
"What’s the situation here?" Zeke Shaw walked in with his men, frowning at Julian Fletcher and Asher.
Asher put on an aggrieved expression. "He kidnapped my wife and had his men beat me up."
Zeke Shaw looked surprised. ’He’s playing the victim now? This is the first time I’ve ever seen an expression like that on Asher’s face. What’s he up to?’
Julian Fletcher’s face darkened. He was about to say something when Assistant Foster walked in with a lawyer. "Officer Lowell, while our young master does have a mental illness and lacks criminal responsibility as he is not in control of his actions during an episode, President Fletcher is a sane man. Kidnapping... assault... those are serious felonies."
Zeke Shaw glanced at me, his look clearly asking me to say something and explain what was going on.
Julian Fletcher’s gaze fell on me as well. Everyone was waiting for me to speak.
’Whether or not Julian Fletcher was guilty of kidnapping all depended on whether I would accuse him.’
