After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects
Chapter 65: Bai Yue Experiences Battle Against Immortals
Jiang Yun ultimately chose the next weakest person, as Bai Yue was still a novice in battle and needed to gain more experience before he increased the difficulty too much.
The man who was chosen didn’t feel happy at all, as this fight was far too biased and his chances of surviving were abysmal.
The only thing he cared about now wasn’t escaping, but at least damaging Bai Yue before he died, taking whatever small solace he could from it.
After being forced to step forward, the two quickly engaged in an all-out battle. The immortal fighting Bai Yue had rich experience, which gave her a hard time.
As the fight progressed, Bai Yue started to suffer minor injuries, but she was slowly learning and adapting to her stronger opponent. Though slow, her progress was undeniable as she managed to take fewer hits as the battle progressed.
Once the battle reached its conclusion, Bai Yue was exhausted and couldn’t continue any longer, while the immortal still had energy left to fight.
Since Bai Yue couldn’t go on, Jiang Yun stopped the fight, as there was no need to continue since she needed to rest.
Unable to defy Jiang Yun, the immortal halted his attacks and stepped aside to let Bai Yue recover, knowing that disobedience meant instant and painful death.
Jiang Yun, seeing that the immortal was so obedient and had even fulfilled his purpose, decided to reward the man for his troubles.
Jiang Yun said to the immortal, "You are now allowed to leave. I will not stop you from going since you helped Bai Yue grow, but if you dare offend me again in the future, that will be another story."
Hearing that he was allowed to leave, the immortal felt immense joy at having saved his own life. Without wasting another second, he flew away quickly, not wanting Jiang Yun to change his mind.
The other immortals present noticed that the man was given a way out and began to feel hopeful themselves. Now, the group enthusiastically anticipated their fight with Bai Yue so they could leave.
After Bai Yue finished resting, the fights continued one at a time, going from weakest to strongest.
Through this, Bai Yue started adapting quickly, though she still let many more opponents win. Whenever someone won, they were allowed to escape freely, as they had served their purpose.
Bai Yue was deeply annoyed by letting the enemies escape simply because she wasn’t strong enough, and she started working even harder to win.
Jiang Yun did this intentionally to boost her motivation, as she didn’t have any particular reason to fight other than to prove herself. By giving her a real reason to fight, she would be able to grow faster and stronger than in a risk-free fight.
Jiang Yun didn’t want her life to actually be in danger, so the only other way to motivate her was to raise the stakes through another method like letting her opponents go.
Seeing the results, Jiang Yun knew his method was effective, as she was able to hold out longer in every single fight while gaining combat experience.
By the third-to-last fight, she managed to hold on long enough to almost force a draw. The enemy was on the verge of being drained of energy, though he managed to retain a small amount and win.
By the second-to-last fight, the opponent felt genuinely threatened by Bai Yue’s combat ability, as she was now brimming with experience from the previous battles.
After a long, drawn-out battle, the opponent ran out of energy and was ultimately killed by Bai Yue, who had now learned to master her energy control and combat awareness.
The last person left was the Immortal King, who had been so arrogant in the beginning, thinking he could claim the sect's territory all for himself.
At this point, however, he no longer held that same arrogance, as Jiang Yun had completely shattered his pride as an Immortal King.
The Immortal King had never felt so helpless, as his life and death were now dictated by the whims of someone else, and he could die at any moment.
In the beginning, the battle against Bai Yue had seemed promising, as he viewed her as an inexperienced young girl, but he no longer thought that way.
Bai Yue was now a seasoned fighter with several battles worth of experience against opponents stronger than her, and she had adapted to the point that she had killed someone all by herself.
The opponent she killed was a peak Golden Immortal before being suppressed to that of an Earth Immortal. This meant the gap in raw combat experience wasn't that far apart between himself and the previous fighter.
Given Bai Yue's rapid rate of growth, the Immortal King was now unsure if he could win against her, as she was fully warmed up from all the fighting while he had been frozen in place all day.
The dread-inducing moment soon arrived as Bai Yue had rested up and was back to full energy. She looked at the remaining Immortal King and waved for him to step forward.
Having no choice but to take his chances, the Immortal King stepped forward reluctantly.
Once he arrived in front of Bai Yue, he readied himself to overcome this challenge no matter what as he desperately wanted to survive.
Bai Yue initiated the fight with a move of her own, having learned the advantage of striking first. The Immortal King instantly felt the power behind the strike, as Bai Yue had now learned how to optimize her strength.
Not to be outdone, the Immortal King launched his own counterattack, wanting to finish the fight quickly before Bai Yue could adapt like she had in the previous battle.
Contrary to his expectations, the Immortal King had no way to defeat Bai Yue quickly. She was now fully experienced and could predict every move he made.
This left the Immortal King deeply frustrated by the hopelessness of his situation, as his chances of victory were shrinking fast.
Everything he tried yielded minimal to no results, as Bai Yue continued to adapt to his fighting style and build upon her knowledge.
As the battle wore on, the Immortal King started running low on energy and was vulnerable to a fatal blow at any time, having no remaining means to defend himself.
Desperate, the Immortal King decided to risk it all and began burning his lifespan rapidly to gain a slight boost in power.
Most people would never do this, as burning lifespan is excruciatingly painful and permanently affects one's future potential, making recovery extremely difficult.
The Immortal King no longer cared, as his life was on the line and the pain was nothing compared to the threat of impending death.
This boost in power allowed the Immortal King to start counterattacking again, especially since Bai Yue was also starting to run low on energy at this point.
Despite the sudden disadvantage, Bai Yue handled it well through a series of blocks and dodges, waiting patiently for a moment to strike back.
The Immortal King continued to burn through his lifespan at a rapid rate, knowing he didn't have much time left.
After a few moments of futile attacks, the Immortal King had burned through all of his lifespan and was left a crippled mess, unable to move.
He collapsed to the ground on his last breath, filled with regret for ever coming here and provoking a monster like Jiang Yun.
Bai Yue, seeing that she had finally won, stepped forward to deal the finishing blow. She had worked relentlessly to earn this victory against a powerful opponent and wanted the satisfaction of ending him.
The Immortal King accepted his fate, as there was nothing left, he could do. The final moment he witnessed in his life was the young girl approaching to deal the killing blow.
Bai Yue then ended the life of the man who had brought trouble to them, avenging her mother for everything he had done over the years.
She felt a profound sense of relief, having finally accomplished something without needing much of Jiang Yun’s help. She had felt useless before, unable to assist him in any way up until now.
Bai Yue turned to Jiang Yun, wondering what he planned to do next now that these people had either escaped or been killed.
Bai Yue asked curiously, "What do we do now?"
Jiang Yun answered with a slight smile, "Now we will have you deal with the forces behind them yourself. After you get stronger, we will go resolve your family’s problems all at once."
Bai Yue confidently replied, "I will get strong quickly and go fight against these people. I don’t want them wandering around and bothering my mother any further."
Bai Yue turned and left, intending to return to her residence and cultivate immediately now that she had a reason to become strong.
Jiang Yun, seeing her motivation, was pleasantly surprised that his plan had worked out so well. Since she was cultivating by herself Jiang Yun no longer needed to intervene as he went to a more private place.
Jiang Yun returned to his own tasks, waiting patiently for Bai Yue to be ready to confront her enemies.
