Chapter 619: Chapter 618: Trip to the headquarters
"The myths about Dreadborne are known to all, most importantly the leader and owner of Dreadborne. A name that can’t be mentioned, thought of, or even imagined. He is called by his title—the Demon Ancestor.
"He and his generals ruled and caused chaos around the Unitaxl Realm. Their legend has reigned for a long time, and no one has stood up to them. The Rule Sovereigns and the Rule Masters ignored them. (Quasi Rank 5 and Rank 5.) As for the one that wields the sword..."
The old man’s expression brightened, then he shivered with fear.
"He is the most dangerous one among the generals of Dreadborne. With one sword, he controls the life and death of Domains. He shattered reality, and his sword creates what it calls the truth while everything else abides by it.
"He is terrifying. People even say he is stronger than the owner of Dreadborne himself. With him, the Demon Ancestor has seized Domains from Supreme Races."
"Tortured talented god sons and children of luck, extorted money, created wars... He is the incarnation of chaos itself..."
The old man paused, then smiled as he looked at the raised cup of Sword Demon, who poured some wine for him.
"Interesting... I must say, the one who wields the sword is impressive."
Sword Demon spoke with a sly smile.
"Of course... Believe me, he is terrifying. He once attacked me, and my face was almost cut off."
The old man drank some wine, his face rosy as he spoke.
By the side, Shalor was embarrassed.
You too?
One was asking about himself, and the other, although there might be some truth in his words, was clearly exaggerating.
How can you, a weak...
Huh?
Shalor’s expression changed rapidly as he looked at the old man.
How come he couldn’t sense the old man’s realm?
Who was he?
While Shalor was shocked by this discovery, Sword Demon continued drinking with the man as he learned more about Dreadborne from him.
Basically, Dreadborne was a new rising organization, at least in this Realm.
Its name was known outside, but no one thought Dreadborne would directly come to their Realm.
When they arrived, knowing their capabilities, five Supreme Races came forward with their Rank 4 experts to challenge them.
But alas...
The Demon Ancestor and his slaves injured them all.
And with that, they made a name for themselves.
Since then, they had been unstoppable, doing things their own way.
But they were more like a pirate group.
Only, instead of hiding and attacking travelers, they went directly to their prey’s bases and extorted money and resources from them.
They also opened their doors and allowed all sorts of criminals into their organization.
The people were furious, mostly the experts, because they were the ones who suffered.
Those below Rank 3 were spared from this harassment simply because they weren’t strong enough to be worth bothering with.
Yet despite all their complaints, the Rule Sovereigns refused to do anything.
As for the Rule Masters...
They were rarely seen.
By the time the old man was done, they had finished more than ten gourds of wine.
"Thanks for the wine."
Sword Demon said as he stood up and looked at the man with a smile.
Shalor also snapped out of his thoughts at this, and the way he looked at the old man changed.
"Ah... Young man, that’s okay. Have a safe trip back."
The old man spoke as he stood up. He seemed drunk, barely even able to walk, while Sword Demon and Shalor left the inn.
"Who... Who is that man?"
Shalor couldn’t help but ask.
"His realm... I can’t see through it."
Shalor added, confusion evident on his face.
"That man is a Quasi Rank 5 being. I would be shocked if you could see his realm."
Sword Demon said, leaving Shalor with his mouth hanging open.
A Quasi Rank 5 being?
As a Quasi Rank 4 being himself, he was well aware that Rank 5 meant...
Even if it was only half a step into that realm, it was a huge change from Rank 4.
Rank 4 beings were the peak.
They interacted with the core, the source of existence.
But Rank 5?
Rank 5 was where everything changed.
They dealt with Authority.
They were like the elite of society.
Yes, a working framework had been created, and while Rank 4 beings were like the wealthiest people within that framework, they were still part of it—just at the highest level.
Rank 5 beings were outside that framework.
At any time, they could change it to fit themselves.
To Rank 5 beings, Rank 4 beings were more like powerful subordinates used to do their work.
There was a reason Dreadborne avoided any world that had a connection to a Rank 5 being, even if it was only a Quasi Rank 5 being.
And now, the old man they had found was a Quasi Rank 5 being.
"Sir Sword Demon, what about what he said about the attack? His face was almost cut off?"
Shalor asked.
"All bullshit."
Sword Demon replied and laughed.
Though he had to admit, everything the old man had said did seem like them.
Especially Void.
How the hell did the fake one know so much about the real Void?
Could it be someone close to Void pretending to be him?
But why?
And for what reason?
None of Void’s slaves would do that. They knew him too well, and pretending to be him wasn’t exactly a smart idea.
So, if it wasn’t one of Void’s slaves...
Then who else?
That was the question.
And it needed answers.
"So where now?"
Shalor couldn’t help but ask.
"Back to Dreadborne."
Sword Demon paused.
"I mean, headquarters."
Sword Demon spoke as Shalor’s expression changed.
"We’re going back? But we haven’t even started investigating. We can look for the fake one. I’m sure we’ll find him if we ask around."
Shalor spoke as Sword Demon shook his head.
"That would only alert him. Besides, you can see how terrifying this Realm is. A random ’storyteller’ we met was a Quasi Rank 5. Things aren’t as easy as they seem.
"And what if he has a strong backer?
"In general speaking, provoking someone like this would be a bad idea."
"So just enjoy the trip back to the headquarters. I’m sure you haven’t seen it before."
Sword Demon said with a grin.
Meanwhile, Shalor was stunned as space wrapped around them, and they disappeared.
Meanwhile...
The old man entered one of the available rooms on the upper floor of the inn as he smiled.
"So the real ones have noticed..."
He couldn’t help but mutter in excitement.
"I wonder what happens when the two meet?"
