Chapter 618: Chapter 617: They are here 2

"Legend has it that among all the generals under the Demon Ancestor, the most feared was the one who wielded the sword. Once, when the Demon Ancestor was surrounded by five Supreme Races, each bringing out their Rank 4 experts, he walked out with his sword and, with one slash, not only were they directly injured, but even their part of the Northern Cosmic Expanse was destroyed, with more than twelve thousand universes left in ruins."

An aged voice was heard as the crowd opened their mouths in shock.

"Old man, are you sure this legend is true?"

"Yes, old man. Twelve thousand universes is too much, plus seriously injuring five Rank 4 beings?"

"Old man, did you dream about this?"

The crowd burst into laughter as the old man’s beard trembled.

He snorted as he spoke.

"What do you know? Each of the generals is a terrifying being. Killing Rank 4 beings is a piece of cake for them. Why do you think the Demon Ancestor could walk around without the Rule Sovereigns interfering? We know the Rule Masters are basically never seen unless something that endangers the Realm appears, but believe me, the Demon Ancestor should be a Rule Sovereign."

The old man spoke excitedly as the crowd laughed once more, rolling their eyes at the old man’s nonsense before leaving him behind.

The old man fumed.

"Believe me, I have lived for a long time. Why would I lie to you all?"

He spoke, but the crowd had already left.

He coughed violently, his face full of pity, as he prepared to head to the inn.

But just then, two men walked toward him, causing his body to instinctively tense up.

"Who are you?"

The old man frowned, then, thinking of something, hurriedly grabbed his stuff.

"Believe me, I may be an old man, but I can still throw hands!"

The old man raised his fist as he looked at the two men.

"He is drunk."

Shalor couldn’t help but say as Sword Demon nodded with a smile.

He was amused.

This man was really interesting.

"Old man, tell us about the Demon Ancestor and the general that wields the sword," Sword Demon said as Shalor’s face twitched.

I mean, he understands asking about the Demon Ancestor, which was the one called ****—heh, he can’t say his name, but the owner of Dreadborne—but why are you still asking about yourself?

You enjoy the glaze, right?

Ah, cheeky boy.

"Ahh, really?"

The old man’s face lit up with a smile.

"Come... Let’s talk at the inn. We have a lot of stories to cover."

The old man’s face flushed as he spoke with a smile.

His legs wobbled as he headed toward a nearby inn while Shalor and Sword Demon followed him.

Many times, the man was about to fall, but in one strange way or another, he would always manage to avoid it and remain on his feet.

He drew a lot of attention, but the people here seemed to be familiar with him as he entered the inn.

The scent of lovely wine filled the air as various smells from dishes fought to be the first to bless one’s nose.

Men drank booze and laughed as various discussions rang out.

The inn wasn’t small. In fact, it had a first floor that was reserved for some people who valued privacy and could afford it.

It was much quieter up there, but down here were the people enjoying themselves.

"Take a seat. Hiccup..."

The old man said with a smile as he went to the counter and ordered food directly.

He didn’t need to wait for a waiter to come. They already knew him, and his order was quickly prepared as he carried it to the table.

"Heh... This is all wine?"

Shalor muttered as the man laughed.

"Of course. Men drink wine as they chat."

The old man said it as a matter of fact as Sword Demon smiled, and a small cup appeared in his hand.

"Please..."

Cupping his hands, Sword Demon spoke as the old man’s eyes widened.

Ah, what a good lad.

The old man’s expression changed as he looked serious.

From his behavior just now and those eyes, this old man had a guess...

In fact, a very strong guess.

And he was about to verify it.

He swirled the gourd around a bit, then paused before slowly opening it.

Plop!

With the top opened, the scent of wine filled the air as he slowly poured a bit for Sword Demon.

Sword Demon’s expression also became serious as he lifted the small cup. A small amount of wine was poured into it as he swirled the wine and leaned at a particular angle with precision.

He brought the wine cup to his nose and sniffed it before tasting it.

The old man’s eyes lit up.

Sword Demon closed his eyes as the liquid flowed from his mouth and down his throat.

First came the heat. It seemed to prick his throat, followed by a coolness that sent shivers down his spine.

Sword Demon placed the empty wine cup down, his eyes slowly opening as the old man waited in anticipation.

"Good wine."

Finally, Sword Demon spoke as the old man smiled.

"That is it, boy... You understand how to drink wine."

The old man said with a smile, like he had just seen his long-lost son.

Shalor’s expression froze.

Aren’t they just drinking wine?

What was with all these ritual-like actions?

He couldn’t understand, but both Sword Demon and the old man understood.

No doubt, this was the connection between drunkards.

It had been so long since Sword Demon had drunk wine, and now this taste...

Ahh, he missed it.

Plus, this Realm had such high-quality wine.

"Good. Enjoying such wine as we hear of the tales of the Demon Ancestor..."

"And the general who wielded a sword. There’s nothing better than this."

Sword Demon spoke as he brought the old man to tears.

"You... You... No, I must tell you everything!"

The old man wept as he spoke, causing Shalor’s face to twitch.

"You know what? Just continue what you were doing."

*******

Meanwhile, at the Eastern Cosmic Expanse, in the dangerous zone where the famous pirate group resided, a spaceship flew across the void as its speed gradually reduced.

Only two people were inside the aircraft, which spanned hundreds of meters.

"Go bring it."

A young man spoke as he gritted his teeth.

Behind him, his sister frowned but still went to the back and carried the huge sack.

It contained some of their treasures and even some important technological blueprints.

They had no choice.

They had to reach the Dasing Domain today and report what they had seen. Otherwise, their Domain would be attacked, and without the necessary information, they would be defeated.

So even if he didn’t want to give away these treasures, he had no choice.

The pirates might even kill them.

It was better to offer them something good.

Not only him, but the people who usually passed through this area, whether with spatial aircraft like this or by traveling through the various layers of space, already knew to prepare the "tax" they had to pay to these pirates.

They were known across the Unitaxl Realm.

Yet, upon reaching the area where the pirates once were, they couldn’t find anybody.

Only...

Silence.

"This is Emir. I have the tax ready. Please take it and allow us to pass."

The young man spoke as his sister looked at the cameras displaying what was outside.

A few seconds passed.

There was no movement.

Could it be the tax was too small?

But this was what they had, and they had passed through here with this amount before, right?

"Erm... Brother..."

His sister suddenly spoke.

"What is that?"

Emir looked outside as he instantly lost his voice.

His eyes shrank.

Outside was something he couldn’t even comprehend.

Space had been split apart.

Not only the First Layer, but all the way to the Fifth Layer of Space.

Giant warships had been cut in half.

Mechas had been cut in half.

Various powerful auras, ranging from Rank 2 to Rank 4 filled the area only they were dead as their bodies floated through the surrounding void.

But that cut...

That cut was like a long ravine spanning an unknown distance.

And the closer one got to it, the more one felt as though they were standing outside their own reality.

Not only had space been cut.

All the Origins had been cut as well.

Fate.

Soul.

Destiny.

Time.

Everything.

Everything had been severed.

Here, you felt like you were nothing more than a tiny speck of dust floating through an endless void.

Nothing mattered.

And the only thing you could think about...

Was that cut.

Slowly, Emir turned the ship around.

He and his sister couldn’t take their eyes off it as they headed towards it.

Across them, any person or warship that got too close was instantly disintegrated.

This was the first sign that Sword Demon, a member of Dreadborne, had arrived.

A proof that said....

They are here.
