Chapter 617: Chapter 616: They are here 1
"Keith... did you have to kill me?"
"I thought we were friends, partners... brothers."
...
Ha.
Ha.
Keith’s eyes opened wide as he took in deep breaths.
Why was Kiro appearing in his dreams?
Well, what the hell? He was already dead. He was now a thing of the past. It was time for Keith to focus on what the hell was happening right now.
Looking around, he was still in the room, locked up, and he was already feeling sleepy.
His thought process was getting slower, but this time, there was no voice.
It seemed she wasn’t here.
At least that was one less thing to focus on as he tried to control his blood.
The most important task as of now was staying awake. If he couldn’t even do that, then how would he go on to study his element?
As a Rank 2 being, he could live without practically breathing oxygen. The energy outside could be converted into whatever his body needed, creating a situation where he could breathe and live in places that normal creatures might not.
He didn’t even need to breathe at times, as his body could draw in energy directly.
But the problem was this room.
Or at least the steam oozing out of it.
It was like poison. It was a source of energy that didn’t act like others.
Following the basic rule that energy couldn’t be destroyed or created but could be converted from one form to another, at least that was the base principle.
But starting from Rank 1, base principles no longer worked the same way.
Energy could be created, destroyed, and still converted if necessary.
After all, starting from Rank 1, creatures had begun walking on the path that granted them access to the sources of existence itself.
This energy corroded Keith’s body as he felt himself weaken. It couldn’t be converted into any other form either.
Its sole purpose was simply to drain the life out of Keith bit by bit.
Knowing that drawing in the poison wouldn’t help, Keith tried a different approach as he locked off his body.
If he couldn’t draw in energy, then why not maximize the energy he had left inside him?
Stretch it and discover ways to make it last longer.
But this wasn’t the direct answer. After all, he had already been corroded far too deeply.
Almost less than one percent of his energy was still pure.
"Argh..."
Keith groaned as his eyelids felt heavy.
He was about to lose consciousness again.
No...
He was already so close...
Damn it.
Just then, he felt his blood move slightly as his eyes widened.
He could actually control his Blood Element.
Albeit it was weak, but it was enough.
So, filtering through his body, he chose the pure energy and used it to block off some necessary paths as blood rushed into his head.
Keith’s eyes widened as his body twitched slightly.
He felt clear-headed as the fog and headache seemed to fade into the background.
Now he had bought himself some time.
Instead of just a few seconds of consciousness, he had extended it to a few minutes.
But that wasn’t enough...
What could he actually do with his Blood Element to make his body self-sufficient without needing oxygen or any other energy?
He furrowed his brows as his mind seemed to open, with different calculations filling it.
"Interesting..."
Suddenly, Keith’s thought process was cut off as he heard that voice once more.
This time, Keith spoke.
"Who are you, and why are you here?" Keith asked, looking at a part of the wall. That was where the voice came from.
"Me?"
"I thought I told you already. I am the princess of the elven race, at least on this world. You can call me Xeya."
She spoke.
Hearing this, Keith raised his brows, then continued what he was doing.
"I mean, you did well buying yourself more time, but what does more time being conscious actually do? You can’t break through this cell," Xeya said as Keith ignored her.
He wasn’t trying to break out, so why will he care about that?
His mind spun back to his days at Rank 0, then at Rank 1.
What actually changed from being at Rank 0 to Rank 1?
How did controlling an element change him?
His body... was it only growing stronger, or was it evolving?
Now he didn’t even need to breathe, but could absorb energy and directly convert it into what he needed.
It didn’t matter how dangerous the energy was or what form of matter it was. He could use it well.
Except for this strange steam.
His eyes narrowed, his heart pumping blood twice as fast.
No.
Blood Element would only keep him alive longer.
He needed all to master other elements.
Keith’s expression changed as he suddenly drew out the few remaining traces of pure energy circulating around his body and sent them toward his heart.
The blood being pumped out suddenly changed in quality.
Instead of needing outside energy this time, the cells had a lifespan with a limited amount of energy.
Once it was over, the cells would die out, and the blood would become useless.
An opening appeared in Keith’s other palm as a splurge of black blood emerged.
And suddenly, his few minutes had extended to hours, at least until the energy ran out.
But this gave Keith the time he needed as he began studying other elements.
And what was the best one to start with, if not the one he had personally experienced?
Gravity...
What exactly was gravity?

Elsewhere...
After leaving the Fifth Layer of Space, Sword Demon and Shalor stopped in a vast region of space.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Ahead of them...
A fleet stretched across the darkness.
The warships were enormous—thousands of light-years in size, their massive bodies floating through space like moving planets. Their mere presence distorted the surrounding layers of space, and around them stood gigantic mechanical beings whose bodies were so immense that the First Layer of Space cracked simply from their existence.
And there were thousands of them.
Tens of thousands of warships and mechas filled the region, forming an almost endless fleet.
Giant black flags fluttered from the ships. ℴ
Each one bore the same symbol—
A skull, with a gigantic star beast coiling around a planet.
There was no doubt.
These were pirates.
"Haha... You want to cross into the Unitaxl Realm?"
A voice suddenly echoed through the surrounding space.
Sword Demon’s eyebrows rose slightly.
Pirates?
Interesting...
He casually swept his senses across the fleet.
Multiple Rank 3 auras.
Several Quasi Rank 4 auras.
And finally...
A Rank 4 aura.
Sword Demon smiled.
They were actually not weak.
"Yes. Is there a problem?"
Meanwhile, Shalor trembled.
His expression became increasingly serious as he sensed the countless powerful auras surrounding them.
Several of them were above him.
And the warships themselves...
Just looking at their enormous bodies felt like an existential crisis.
At the very least, their weapons were powerful enough to leave a Quasi Rank 4 being injured.
As for the mechas...
Even the weaker ones were not something Shalor could afford to take lightly.
Their weapons could hurt even him, while the mechas themselves were at Peak Rank 3 and below.
This was a fleet capable of threatening beings far above the level of ordinary Rank 3s.
"No, nothing..."
The mysterious voice spoke again.
"But of course, we collect a tax for ’safe travel’..."
Silence.
Then...
A smile slowly appeared on Sword Demon’s face.
"Right..."
His voice was calm, almost amused.
"I hope this won’t be too little."
The instant his words fell...
Sword Demon reached out and grabbed space itself.
Crack!
The First Layer of Space shattered.
Then the second...
The third...
Boom!
The surrounding Laws violently clashed as their sources were forcibly dragged out of the shattered layers.
Countless Origins twisted together converging toward Sword Demon’s open palm.
Then..
They merged.
A sleek white sword slowly materialized within his hand.
At that moment, the entire atmosphere changed.
