Chapter 616: Chapter 615: The elf princess

"Hmm, where is Dralo?"

After a brief glance at Keith, the Elven Queen looked away as she asked the female guard.

Only at this moment could Keith breathe, but his face showed a pained expression. Something had happened, and it wasn’t good. His soul was also under tremendous pressure, and there was a crack in it.

Now he needed to heal that before he could even think about increasing his mastery over his element.

This was just a glance. She hadn’t attacked or intentionally released her pressure on Keith, yet his soul had almost shattered.

This was the horror of a Rank 3 being.

"Your Majesty, Commander Dralo went to meet the King of Humans," the female guard reported.

"I see... It makes sense. Since this demon appeared in our territory while it was the humans’ turn to guard the World Edge."

The Elven Queen paused.

"Or could it be that you came from the Mortal Realm? No, demons aren’t from the Mortal Realm."

The Elven Queen pondered for a moment.

"Keep him imprisoned until the necessary investigation is done on him," the Elven Queen commanded.

"Yes, my Queen."

The female guard spoke as she yanked Keith up, causing him to grit his teeth. Cold sweat poured down his face as he reverted back into his human form.

The instant he did, the Elven Queen stood up, her body trembling.

"You..."

She pointed a finger at him, her breathing changing as the young lady behind her also stood up, her eyes widening in shock.

As for the female guard, she had already drawn her sword, her body trembling.

This couldn’t be...

But at this point, Keith had already lost consciousness.

"How could it be... a human?" the Elven Queen said with fear.

The thing was, yes, powerful demons like Rank 3 demons could take on a human form, but there was a difference between taking a human form and being a human.

Even in human form, the properties of a demon wouldn’t disappear. Maybe they would have darker pupils, be larger than normal humans, or, most importantly, for strong experts, demons possessed an evil presence that gave them away and couldn’t be removed or suppressed.

Demons could only fool normal humans, not experts.

But this demon...

Once he changed into human form, he looked exactly like a human, and his evil presence had disappeared.

"Humans! They did this abomination!"

The Elven Queen suddenly flared up.

There was only one explanation for this.

The humans had created a hybrid between the human and demon races.

How could they?

"My Queen... shou... should I kill it?" the female guard asked as she gulped.

Her Queen’s anger was something she hadn’t expected.

Not only her, but across the elven settlement for thousands of light-years, even as far as the humans on the other side of this world, they all looked toward the World Tree.

What could have happened to make the Elven Queen this angry?

"Yes... Kill this thing. Burn it... and follow me to the human capital," the Elven Queen declared with rage.

But just then—

"Mom, wait..."

"If he is a hybrid, then isn’t this the chance for us to study what an hybrid really is and being the first in his race, this is a blessing. Also, with him being alive, won’t we be able to show the humans their ’work’ and they won’t be able to deny it."

The young lady spoke, her long emerald dress flowing around her. It was inlaid with natural, luminous materials.

"Ah..."

The Elven Queen’s expression froze.

Yes, this was true.

She had let her anger consume her.

But only she, having once fought a Rank 3 demon, knew the terror demons held.

Imagine if there was a hybrid Rank 3 demon that could pretend to be part of her people.

Wouldn’t that mean she could be attacked without knowing he was the enemy?

If one could be created, then that meant it could be repeated. More and more hybrids could be formed.

Not only was the elven race doomed, but the humans had doomed themselves, and this world too.

From their brief interaction and the fact that he was here, she could see that the humans couldn’t control him.

And worse still, he wasn’t "human."

Knowing human greed and curiosity, they would create hybrid elves too.

"Yes, you are right, Xeya," the Elven Queen said to her daughter before turning to the female guard.

Her expression was cold.

"Take him to an isolated cell," the Elven Queen ordered.

"Yes, my Queen."

The female guard carried Keith away.

Meanwhile, Xeya smiled as she watched Keith leave.

"If you are dead, then how can I study you?"

Xeya couldn’t help but mutter with a grin.

Keith woke up as he felt weak.

Incredibly weak.

His memories felt foggy as he tried to stay awake, his eyes looking around.

He seemed to be in an enclosed space. It wasn’t too large, but his body was bound.

His two arms were stretched out, tied to the walls, while his knees were on the ground. His back was attached to a huge turtle shell that seemed to weigh several million tons. Keith’s back was strained, but worse still, he felt his energy slowly being drained by the room.

Steam occasionally rose, and with each burst of steam, his energy decreased.

Thanks to the turtle shell behind him, he could barely sense his element as he felt intense thirst and hunger.

He knew he had been imprisoned, but with this, he couldn’t think of escaping.

Not that he wanted to.

In fact, this situation was the best for him.

This way, with his element almost completely cut off from him, he could start studying it from scratch, and he would improve far better or even gain new elements.

"You’re awake."

He suddenly heard a voice, at least from outside.

Keith shook his head as he tried to stay awake, but...

Everything faded.

Then he woke up again.

The same weakness.

"Hello? You’re awake, right?"

He heard the voice again.

Then he closed his eyes.

It seemed his first obstacle was staying awake. If he couldn’t, then how would he study his element?

"Hey?"

"Hjshsjh***"

"Are you awake?"

Sometimes it sounded like a murmur. Other times, it was clear.

No matter how many times Keith fell unconscious and woke up, he was always met with that voice.

He was growing irritated.

"Who..."

"A..."

"Yu..."

Keith managed to say as he fell unconscious.

"I am Xeya, the Elven Princess, and gavshshshs****..."

A princess?

Huh.

Keith closed his eyes as he fell unconscious.
