Chapter 555: Dragonnewts?
As Leo made his way towards the slaving facility, people naturally parted for him. Nyxa's towering form alone was enough to intimidate everyone.
"What in the world...?" A man's mouth hung open as he instinctively took a step back at the sight of Nyxa.
"How can anyone tame that thing?"
People's eyes naturally landed on Naelith and Lyswenna, who were sitting atop Nyxa.
"Where did he find elves inside the realm?!"
"Idiot! Look closely. He is from Aurelius Beast Academy. Wasn't there a rumour that some big shot from that academy brought two elven slave maids? It must be him."
"Y-yeah..."
"Damn, so lucky..."
"But then, why is he heading towards the slaving facility if he has nobody to enslave?"
"Maybe to buy some that others sold...?"
They were still discussing the matter when suddenly four Lizardmen appeared beside the elves atop Nyxa.
Shyra had quietly placed them on her back while remaining in stealth. Leo then proceeded to unsummon her. He had already revealed too many cards; he shouldn't flaunt even more, or things would come back to bite him in the ass in the future.
"You, come down and walk beside me," Leo said, pointing at Thalvyr, who promptly obeyed.
"What is your name?" Leo asked.
"My name is Thalvyr, a Flame-oriented Lizardman," Thalvyr introduced himself.
"I am Leo, a Beast Master from Aurelius Beast Academy, and from now on, your new master. Do you accept?"
"I accept," Thalvyr replied.
"Good." Leo looked toward the others on Nyxa's back, who returned his gaze with anxious eyes.
"I assume they are your family. Introduce them."
Thalvyr immediately began.
"The red girl is my daughter. Her name is Cindriss."
"The small boy is my son. His name is Arkvyr."
His gaze shifted to the unconscious woman.
"The white one is my wife, Zharrissa, a rare magic-oriented variant from the volcanic region. Since her bodily traits are ill-suited to that environment, she has been in poor physical health her entire life. It is one of the major reasons I was desperate to get out of the realm."
Leo nodded. Though he wanted to ask why Thalvyr chose to be with Zharrissa even after her condition, he decided to leave that discussion for another day.
"So, Thalvyr, what made you so readily agree to follow me?" Leo asked, wanting the real answer.
"The answer is my wife. Through some miraculous phenomenon, she can see beneficial opportunities and the outside world in her dreams. In one of those dreams, she caught a glimpse of a territory ruled by you, and that you treat other races better than most humans." Thalvyr continued, seeing that a question had formed in Leo's mind and answered with a guess.
"Normally, it would be impossible for me to recognise you. Things only became clear when those two elves appeared, because that red-haired elf was a prominent figure in Zharrissa's dreams."
"So we took a gamble, and now here we are, on our way to becoming your slaves."
Thalvyr finished.
"Ah... the [Dream Bearer]. No wonder..." Leo muttered, though he was still somewhat confused.
Does Zharrissa's Dream Bearer talent work differently from Sylrael's? Leo wondered. Thalvyr said she could even see beneficial opportunities, yet Sylrael was incapable of that inside the Frozen Waterfall Secret Realm.
For now, Leo could only check once she became his slave and her status panel became visible. Pushing the matter aside, he looked back at Thalvyr.
"Your wife was right. You won't have to worry about unfair treatment as long as you're loyal. As a matter of fact, your status as my slave places you above ordinary members of my territory simply because you won't be able to betray me," Leo said with a smile as he stopped in front of the counter.
"Show me slave collars with red and white designs," he said to the receptionist.
The man immediately hurried off to fetch them. He didn't dare delay, even if Leo wasn't following the normal procedures.
Having a massive lurking beast in the background certainly had its advantages.
When the man returned—
"Naelith, Lyswenna."
At Leo's call, both of them quickly descended and stood beside him.
"Choose suitable slave collars for them. Meanwhile, I'll complete the other process."
With that, Leo stepped onto a platform etched with intricate magic lines that connected to a pod-like object behind the counter. Another man placed all the chosen collars into the same pod before clasping his hands together.
Apparently, he was a licensed priest responsible for handling slave contracts.
The magic circle flared softly as Leo felt a faint ticklish sensation spread through his body.
The same sensation as when the Wood Elves were enslaved.
Then, accompanied by the familiar feeling of invisible threads wrapping around his fingers, he sensed all the collars connect to him. The man then fastened the collars one by one around each Lizardman's neck.
Klink!

Klink!
All 4 slave collars were clasped around the Lizardmen's necks, including the unconscious Zharrissa.
After securing each collar, he used magic to finalise the binding.
Leo couldn't help but think that if unconscious people could be enslaved this easily, then stories of people being tricked into slavery must be quite common. And those tricks would most likely be played not by strangers, but by those closest to them.
Damn, better to have a true mortal enemy than friends and family like that, Leo thought.
The next moment, his thoughts were interrupted by the system chime.
