Chapter 516: Dra-goons
Chapter 516: Dra-goons
Pyrotrax caught Ignivorax and stabilized him before he could fall.
"Arghhh... fucker," Ignivorax growled, clutching his fist tightly as the bones slowly realigned themselves.
It was one of their traits—a superior healing factor.
"I still don’t know your names," Leo said with a smile as he hopped down from Nyxa.
The dragons finally came to their senses as both Pyro and Igni created a bit more distance from him. Vulcarion, on the contrary, walked toward Leo confidently.
Confident in his mid-4-star strength, which was higher than Leo’s.
His eyes even darted to Leo’s companions.
A wolf at Pseudo 4-star, a red-haired elf maid at the cusp of Low 4-star. He realized Leo actually had the power to barely hold Pyrotrax and Ignivorax at bay, if he himself were not here.
"I commend the fact that, as a human, you achieved this level of strength at such a young age, but you should know the boundary of your arrogance," Vulcarion said in a low and threatening voice as flames covered his fists, ready to attack.
Leo internally mused on his words. He would hear it from anybody but dragons.
"And are you sure you should be the one lecturing me on this topic?" Leo replied with a grin, copying Vulcarion’s move by covering his fist with flames. But his were purple.
Let’s try this... Leo thought internally and tinkered with the poison in the flames. The next second, the purple fire gained a neon-green tint. The Netherblight effect from Hydra’s poison had been successfully applied.
Leo didn’t do much; he simply overlapped the Netherblight poison over his fist. It burned away in the flames and mixed with them.
Since the smoke would have affected the elves and Lyswenna, he used wind to blow it toward the dragons.
Vulcarion’s eyes narrowed slightly the moment the flames changed color. He couldn’t tell exactly what it was, but it felt dangerous.
"Sigh, looks like I stumbled upon some impolite dragons. Well, I’ll ask once again—what are your names? I already said mine."
Leo’s mocking tone was enough to make a itch at the dragon’s pride, and the first to react was, of course, Vulcarion, who charged straight at Leo.
Twip! Twip!
Two arrows were fired simultaneously, both heading straight for Pyro and Igni.
Though the water-infused one was blocked by Pyro, Igni was forced to dodge the flame-infused arrow.
"Get that red-haired elf firs—"
BOOM!
The region around Leo and Vulcarion erupted in flames. The next moment, Vulcarion was flung out of the smoke with a caved-in wound across his chest, burning with purple poison. Worse, the poison’s acidity had pierced his scales, making the flesh sizzle and smoke.
RRROOOOAAAAARRRRRRR!!
Vulcarion roared furiously. Flame-orange scales spread across his body, the wound on his chest healing rapidly as he expanded. A thick tail appeared that kept on elongating, and he continued growing until he stood in full dragon form, almost 15 to 17 meters long from head to tail and around 5 to 7 meters tall.
Within moments, his maw filled with orange flames, and he unleashed his breath directly at Leo, who appeared completely unscathed after the dust settled.
Leo glanced back to make sure the elves were out of range, then raised his hand. A thick wall of dense earthen material surged upward. At the same time, he enveloped his body in a dense aura while the dragon breath swallowed him whole.
One could see a bulge in the torrent of flames where Leo stood, making it clear the earth barrier was successfully parting the fire.
Vulcarion increased the intensity and sustained the breath for nearly half a minute.
"Get melted, motherfucker. But I’m sure you humans always have tactics to stay alive inside the realm. How does it feel? Getting carried by your babysitter—!" Vulcarion mocked in his dragon form, only to abruptly fall silent at what he saw next.
When the flames finally subsided, a conical stretch nearly 100 meters long had been melted into lava. The rocky terrain glowed red, widening farther from the source. Yet the small patch where Leo stood remained completely intact. Dense steam rose around it, revealing that he had used water to protect the ground from direct contact with the flames, along with the earthen wall in front of him.
As for Leo himself, he was completely fine, a yellow aura armor flickering around his body.
"W-what?" Vulcarion stared in disbelief.
But he didn’t get to recover because the elves had already attacked Pyro and Igni.
And, of course, Shyra was helping from the shadows. As a Low 4-star beast, it was effortless for her to ambush the unaware Igni, swatting him out of the sky and into the ground.
Igni would have been knocked out by a single blow if he weren’t a dragon. The wound wasn’t deep, and once he transformed into dragon form, it began healing immediately.
"Watch out! There’s someone strong in the shadows!" Pyro warned
Pyro didn’t wait to take damage. He instantly flew higher and transformed into a 14-meter-long dragon standing roughly 5 meters tall.
Naelith and Lyswenna climbed onto Nyxa and rushed toward Igni on the ground, while Shyra kept a watchful eye on Pyro, ready to strike the moment he entered her jump range.
"Still no name?" Leo said with a grin. Then he vanished from his spot.
"I wonder how it would feel to punch a nameless dragon."
Vulcarion’s pupils contracted.
The voice came from right beside him. He didn’t even have time to react before a heavy punch slammed into his gut.
GRRAAA!!
He groaned painfully.
His scaly armour cracked and caved inward as the wound began to glow neon green. Leo had infused the strike with Netherblight Poison, which seeped directly through the damaged scales into Vulcarion’s body.
"Y-you! What did you do!?" Vulcarion gasped as the wound on his abdomen burned violently, even suppressing his healing factor.
Apparently, Leo had used the skill [Umbral Rift Pounce]
- ...Wounds inflicted carry residual "rift distortion," momentarily inhibiting the target’s healing and balance.
