Chapter 514: Tsk, I Guess Another Time
Leo had instructed Shyra to reduce her size to a minimum to gain maximum agility as she carried the elves, while he himself traveled on foot.
Nyxa had been unsummoned because it was faster for Leo to travel by melding into the shadows as they weaved through the secret realm toward the general location that had been revealed.
Not even half an hour had passed, and Leo had already traveled more than 200 Kilometres completely on foot. He was barely sweating. Shyra, too, looked relatively fine. The only one a bit troubled was Lyswenna, as her weaker constitution was barely able to keep up with Shyra’s speed.
As she took a rest, Leo observed the scene in front of him.
A group of 30 or so people had set up a makeshift camp and were resting. Food was being cooked, and people relaxed their tired, overheated bodies by thoroughly exhausting the mana reserves of a single male water mage whose expression practically screamed the word ’bullied.’ He continuously conjured cool water for everyone to soak in and wash themselves.
"Well, being the only water mage in a group of flame users does have its side effects," Leo muttered.
He suspected the mage might have been forced against his will by a stronger individual to come here as little more than a helper.
"But where is this strong individual?"
Leo refocused his senses and finally found a Low 3-star individual inside a makeshift tent.
"Vulcan Ember."
But the next moment, he immediately retracted his senses, completely weirded out after detecting a familiar presence alongside him.
"What the hell is even attractive about that slut?" Leo muttered in disgust.
Even though he couldn’t pinpoint their exact postures or movements, he could easily figure out what was happening inside the tent.
Leo looked around the area and realized that the man Hilda had previously been clinging to wasn’t present, which likely meant he had been taken out of the realm after suffering fatal injuries.
"I bet that slut deliberately pushed that man into a death trap so she could get close to Vulcan without him realizing it. That way she could keep all her paths open and widen her hole," Leo snickered to himself, thinking such men deserved it.
By now, Lyswenna seemed to have stabilized, and Leo decided it was time to confront them.
He calmly seated himself atop Nyxa, who was around 4 meters in size, while the elves walked side by side with the beast.
According to them, they were unworthy of sitting beside Leo, and that privilege was reserved solely for Lily.
Leo agreed. At the end of the day, their status was that of slaves, and no matter how well he treated them privately, he needed to maintain the image to the outside world that he was a citizen of the Human Empire who viewed other races as lower beings.
The large beast was noticed almost immediately by Vulcan’s group, which consisted of young masters from the Ember family and students of the Valencrest Royal Academy.
"Tsk, I guess another time."
Saying that, Vulcan grabbed Hilda’s head and pulled her hard, finishing inside her mouth, making her gag and struggle.
"Cough, cough. Young Master, if you ever find yourself stressed again, I am more than willing to help you. You can even make me your personal servant at the Academy so that I am always around whenever you need me," Hilda said, wiping the fluid from her mouth, which was spilling out.
"Of course you need to do it. That’s what branch families are for. I’m sure your family will flourish if you keep serving me."
Hilda’s eyes practically sparkled as she resisted the urge to hold onto Vulcan’s dic—legs all over again.
"Young Master, you’re so good and generous!"
With that, Vulcan quickly got dressed and walked out, half-frustrated and ready to vent his irritation on whoever had disturbed him.
One might think that Vulcan forming such inappropriate relationships inside the realm was a foolish move under the watchful eyes hidden in the shadows—the Academy’s professors and assistant professors.
But students were students, and many members of the teaching staff were no different from Vulcan. Some were even worse, directly hooking up with students.
When Vulcan came out and saw who was there, he frowned deeply, seeing only three individuals and a medium-sized beast.
He immediately looked toward the person who had called for him.
"You dare disturb my important discussion over some small fry?"
"Y-young Master! I suspect there are hidden enemies nearby. There really can’t be only three people coming as reinforcements."
"Hmph! You’d better be right, or else you’re in for some valuable lessons."
Saying that, he slung his mace over his shoulder and proudly strode to the front lines.
His eyes were instantly drawn toward the bright red-haired figure.
"Which family member dares oppos—"
When he noticed the long ears and maid uniform, he stopped.
Hilda once again came running toward him.
"Young Master Vulcan! Young Master Vulcan! Those people tried to get your personal servant arrested over false charges and framed me when I caught those ugly elves stealing things!"
Somehow, she had managed to promote herself into being his personal servant in one fell swoop, and Vulcan had actually agreed.
Vulcan briefly wondered from which angle those elves looked ugly, but his attention quickly returned to the important matter.
"Oh? So these people dare stand against the Ember family in our own land?"
On the contrary, Leo was amazed by what he was witnessing.
However, Lyswenna voiced the exact thoughts on his mind.
"Lord, this woman might be very experienced in the field. I wonder if calling her public property undermines her efforts."
Leo chuckled.
"True. I guess we need to coin a new word."
"HALT!" Vulcan shouted in a booming voice.
The command brushed past Leo’s ears like a passing breeze as Nyxa continued walking forward without the slightest hesitation.
"Young Master Vulcan! Teach them a lesson! They dare defy the words of a family heir!"
"Vulcan?"
"AH!"
Hilda jumped and fell to the ground when someone suddenly spoke right beside her ear.
Vulcan immediately turned and leaped backward when he spotted a man with crimson horns jutting from his forehead standing beside fallen figure of Hilda.
"Pyro, look at this shit of a lowly human. He dares call himself by my name’s suffix."
"HAHAHA, Vulcarion. You would be surprised by how audacious these humans are."
A voice came from the sky, and only then did everyone notice a man flying overhead, his draconic wings steadily flapping to keep him aloft. Fiery red horns jutted from his forehead, and his wings shared the same blazing color.
