Chapter 513: Young Master So Cool And Reliable
Chapter 513: Young Master So Cool And Reliable
--Previously--
"Hahahaha, Ronan. I am pretty sure we might have hauled around 30 million worth of treasures!" Aaron said as they moved across the surface of the ground as if the dirt itself had turned into an accelerator.
But if one looked closely, it was Aaron’s beast—the Gravelflow Serpent—that slithered across the realm floor with half its body submerged. It was as if the beast were gliding through the ground, as though the earth itself were water, while Aaron and Ronan stood steadily on the serpent’s broad back as if on a boat.
That was exactly what they were doing, travelling through the realm at a steady pace, stopping whenever Aaron sensed treasure through his [Spiritual Sense] Soul technique before moving on again. At times, they would encounter beasts, and Ronan would take the lead with his Moltenbrand Sentinel.
Whenever needed, they took breaks while four servants swiftly prepared food and helped them freshen up their sweat-soaked bodies. Unlike Leo, they had no protection against the relentless heat waves. In fact, 1 of their servants had already been carried out of the realm midway through the journey because he could no longer endure the temperatures and collapsed.
When they prepared to venture deeper, they sent the rest of their servants back as well. The temperatures ahead would have been unbearable for them.
But the servants hadn’t even gone a hundred meters before they were attacked by others and carried out of the realm by the shadows.
Not long after, Aaron and Ronan found themselves surrounded by more than 50 people. Most of them were redheads.
"Heheh, Young Master Vulcan, the Virex family prides itself on being one of the best flame element families in the Empire, yet they can’t even provide proper servants to their so-called prodigious son. They can’t even accompany him for the duration of a realm exploration," one of the redheaded lackeys said, nudging Vulcan as he looked down on Aaron and Ronan.
"Heh, what can we even expect from tweaps whose signature beast pretends to be a draconic beast with that flashy body armour?"
As he spoke, Vulcan summoned his beast—a drake that vaguely resembled the one Leo was fighting at that very moment.
The only difference was that this one was only around 10 meters long from head to tail and stood roughly 4 meters tall.
Soon enough, many others summoned their beasts and launched a combined assault against the pair.
Naturally, Aaron and Ronan retaliated. Somehow, Ronan’s Sentinel handled the drake on its own, and with Aaron’s Warden controlling the battlefield, they held their ground surprisingly well.
Out of nearly fifty opponents, they managed to take down 20, including a mix of redheads and students from Valencrest Academy.
"Surrender the treasures you acquired! Or else don’t blame me for killing your beast for real!" Vulcan roared as he leapt high into the air with his modified mace and came crashing down toward the Shardfall Warden’s rocky body.
"In your dreams!" Aaron immediately disengaged from the man in front of him and swung his greatsword upward to intercept the mace.
"AARRRH!" Aaron groaned as the freed attacker slashed across his back, tearing open a savage gash.
"COWARDS!" He shouted, but still managed to parry the mace.
With a furious spinning slash, he immediately defeated the attacker, who was carried away by the shadows. But in the next moment, Vulcan unleashed a flamethrower attack directly onto the bleeding wound on Aaron’s back--which was exposed when Aaron turned just now.
"FUCKING HELLLL!!!"
The entire wound was rapidly cauterised while Aaron felt every second of it. The smell of burnt flesh spread through the battlefield. One could only imagine the pain. Even many of the attackers standing in the back lines felt horrified at the sheer intensity of it.
It was then that Aaron and Ronan unsummoned their beasts and stepped back. Both of them were covered in wounds from head to toe, and just like Aaron’s injuries, many of Ronan’s wounds had been brutally cauterised as well.
"Ready to hand over your treasures now? I promise I’ll let you go afterwards. After all, you’ll never get another chance to enter my family’s secret realm and legally steal our treasures again."
Hearing him, Ronan scoffed.
"Your realm? Ptui! Say that shit to the Emperor."
He spat on the ground.
"Do you think I was blind and deaf when that Dragon descended and had a ’friendly’ chat with the City Lord and with themselves?"
Vulcan’s face immediately darkened.
"Hmph! Doesn’t change the fact that this realm now belongs to us forever. And you—yes, you—are a leech. Now give back what you stole and get out of the realm."
"But didn’t you say we’d be free to go?" Ronan asked with a sly smile.
"Terms changed because time passed."
"Heh, muscleheads really can’t even keep their words straight."
"YOU!"
Vulcan became enraged and condensed a supercharged orb of burning flames before hurling it at them.
It was also at this exact moment that Aaron finished speaking with Leo.
BOOOM!
The flames erupted.
Ronan was immediately carried away by the shadows. Aaron, however, remained inside the inferno for a few moments longer as a thin layer of soil shielded him from the worst of it. It seemed he still had something left to say.
"GET READY, MOTHERFUCKERS! YOUR DESTRUCTION IS ON THE WAY—"
Before he could say anything else, he too was transported away.
"Heh! Big words..." Vulcan muttered before turning around to inspect the condition of his group.
"Young Master Vulcan! I saw that ugly grey-haired man use a jade slip secretly while that red-haired man was talking with you!" a woman suddenly called out.
She had dull red hair and wore tight-fitting clothing that looked thoroughly uncomfortable in this heat. The sweat was even making her skin partially visible through the fabric. And it was obvious from the way she moved that she was deliberately displaying her ample curves as she hurried toward Vulcan.
When Vulcan turned to look at her, however, he paid less attention to her words than to her chest, which seemed determined to draw his eyes away from everything else.
Hilda naturally noticed.
Taking advantage of the moment, she pressed a hand against her chest, making it appear even more prominent while giving herself the image of a clumsy, innocent girl embarrassed by Vulcan’s gaze.
"Kuhmm! What were you saying?" Vulcan finally asked after dragging his attention away.
"Young Master! I saw the grey-haired man use a jade slip to contact someone, then destroy it to reveal his location. I think backup might be coming!" Hilda explained.
"Hmph! So what? I can handle any backup. Just stay by my side, and you’ll be safe."
"Wow! Young Master! You are so cool and reliable!" Hilda exclaimed, lightly hopping in place. The movement naturally drew Vulcan’s gaze once more, and this time he didn’t even bother pretending to look away.
"Young Master... if you want, I can tell you privately about what that man communicated. I managed to overhear some of it," Hilda said with an innocent expression.
"Cough! Yeah, sure. But first, let me congratulate everyone for putting up such a brave fight!"
