Seraphina Sterling froze. She had thought the voice sounded a little familiar, but Yvonne Hollis’s fawning tone was so obvious it had irritated her, so she hadn’t turned around. She never expected that her last roommate would be someone she knew!

"Genevieve Churchill? You actually got into Aethelgard University?"

You couldn’t blame Seraphina for being shocked. Based on Genevieve’s grades six months ago, getting into Aethelgard University should have been absolutely impossible!

Genevieve Churchill pouted and shot Seraphina Sterling a sideways glance. "What’s that supposed to mean? So you’re allowed to skip a grade and get into Aethelgard University, but I’m not allowed to test in? I’m pretty smart too, you know. My grades were bad before only because I wasn’t studying hard! As long as I apply myself, Aethelgard University is a piece of cake!"

Seraphina frowned as she looked at her. Genevieve’s IQ was indeed high. With hard work and diligence, getting into a good university would be quite easy for her. But Aethelgard University... the possibility should have been very low. After all, Aethelgard University was Apex Premier Academy; you couldn’t get in just by cramming at the last minute!

Genevieve felt a bit sheepish under her stare. "Alright, fine! I got in through the arts track, so the academic score requirement wasn’t as high. I’m in The Conservatory! But it doesn’t matter how I got in—the process isn’t important, only the result! I didn’t go back on my word, did I? I made it to Aethelgard too, and we’re even at the same university! Best of all, we’re roommates! It’s like we were fated to be together!"

Seraphina climbed down from her bed and pulled Genevieve into a tight bear hug. "You kept your promise. We meet again! Now we have four whole years together!"

"That’s right, we’re going to live together for four years! I get excited just thinking about it!" Genevieve was even happier. The past six months had been what one could only describe as hell. After the kidnapping incident and her return to Veridia, she had immediately thrown herself into a grueling study regimen. She completely changed her old lifestyle, sleeping only four hours a day and spending the rest of her time cramming. But her hellish life had paid off!

’Live together...’ An instant headache bloomed for Seraphina. Still, sharing a dorm room did count as living together, she supposed.

"You two know each other?" Yvonne Hollis frowned. She had thought that with one more person, the three of them could form a clique and completely isolate that clueless country bumpkin. She never imagined this newcomer would actually know the bumpkin! And it seemed they were quite close, too! Her plan was ruined!

"Of course, we’re best friends!" Genevieve hadn’t seen Shelby Fenton’s earlier nose-in-the-air attitude, nor had she heard what the two of them had said about Seraphina. Wanting to get along with her new classmates, she answered them. However, the other girl didn’t seem very pleased.

"Hmph, another country bumpkin! What rotten luck! I, the esteemed daughter of the Fenton Family, have to live with people like you for four years? This is completely beneath me!" Shelby Fenton shot them a nasty glare, as if they were germs and a single look could give her an infectious disease.

Seraphina couldn’t listen to any more of it. "Genevieve, how did we end up with such a tragic fate, having to live with a peacock? But don’t worry, we can live off-campus starting our sophomore year. Let’s just endure it. It’s only for a year. We can think of it as training for our mental fortitude! You know, patience is a skill, and it needs to be practiced!"

Genevieve looked at her friend’s infuriatingly smug expression and wanted to burst out laughing, but she held it in. She had to play along. "The fact that we’ve been reunited and are lucky enough to be roommates is already a great blessing from heaven! It’s just living with a peacock, that’s all. We can endure a little thing like this. Don’t worry about it too much! Come on, let me help you unpack!"
