A Warm Marriage After Rebirth
Chapter 362: Won (2)
Chapter 362: Chapter 362: Won (2)
"You two..." Shelby Fenton pointed a trembling finger at them, panting, too furious to speak. In the Fenton Family, she had always been The Little Princess. Everyone spoiled her, catered to her every whim. No one had ever defied her, let alone looked down on her! And now, these two country bumpkins she disdained had the audacity to be disgusted by *her*!
"Don’t be so ungrateful!" Yvonne Hollis chimed in again to back her up. "Do you have any idea who Shelby is? She’s the young lady of the Fenton Family! We’re talking about a true powerhouse family! Even if you are just country bumpkins, you can’t be so ignorant that you’ve never heard of a family like that, right?"
"You should be counting your lucky stars you get to share a room with Shelby! Other people would kill for this opportunity! And here you are, complaining about everything. I see what this is. You see Shelby’s noble status, compare it to your own lowly background, and now you’re just envious, jealous, and hateful! Your birth is determined by fate! It’s innate! Fate decreed that you would be nothing but country bumpkins, while Shelby was born a wealthy heiress. If you have to blame someone, blame yourselves for not keeping your eyes open when you were born and picking a rich family! Blame your parents for not being wealthy!"
"You’re absolutely right," Seraphina Sterling said, uncharacteristically praising Yvonne Hollis. This made the expression on Shelby Fenton’s face soften considerably.
But before her arrogant smile could fully form, Seraphina continued, "Your current status, your current pride... it has nothing to do with you as a person. Not one bit. All of it was given to you by your parents, by your family. Even if we were impressed, it would be with the Fenton Family, not with you. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. We rely on ourselves. You rely only on your family. You’re right, you were born into a powerhouse family. But I will *create* a powerhouse family. You’re the daughter of a great house, but I *am* the great house!"
After her bold proclamation, Seraphina pulled Genevieve Churchill straight out the door. ’The room reeked of peacock,’ she thought. ’It’s disgusting.’ Seraphina had only packed basic daily necessities in her suitcase and still needed to buy many things. Since Genevieve Churchill had already explored the campus thoroughly, the two of them spent the whole afternoon shopping and didn’t finish getting their room properly set up until that evening.
Of course, after that argument, the four of them immediately split into two factions. Shelby Fenton had Yvonne Hollis clinging to her side, while Genevieve Churchill, naturally, stuck with Seraphina Sterling. The four suitemates came from two different schools; Seraphina and Shelby were both in the School of Economics and Management, while Yvonne and Genevieve were from The Conservatory. Now, two people who couldn’t stand each other had to go through military training together. Things were about to get interesting.
Nearly every university required first-year students to undergo a period of military training designed to improve their physical fitness. The duration varied from school to school, but regulations stipulated it could not be shorter than half a month or longer than a month. Despite this, most universities in Apex opted for the minimum duration of just fifteen days. Aethelgard University was the odd one out, mandating a full month of training every time. Moreover, absences were not permitted without a valid reason.
The intensity of the training was nearly on par with that of actual military boot camp. Every freshman at Aethelgard University would remember this month for the rest of their lives. It was a month of blood and tears. But by the end of it, the students had grown close. The laziness in their eyes was replaced by determination, and their ability to cooperate as a team had improved dramatically. Perhaps due to these various benefits, the university leadership never shortened the training period, despite considerable outside opposition. From the moment the military training requirement was established, it had always been one month. No exceptions.
At six in the morning, Seraphina Sterling, dressed in her camouflage fatigues, arrived promptly at the designated training grounds for the School of Economics and Management. The incoming class for the school was enormous. Once they were sorted into squads, the students began quietly introducing themselves to one another. The sharp barks of military commands echoed across the field as instructors, ramrod straight and radiating energy, strode to the front of their respective squads. University military training had officially begun.
