"I’m Shelby Fenton. Ever heard of the Fenton Bank in Aethelgard? That’s our family business. I specifically enrolled in business management so I can join the family company in the future!" Shelby Fenton had gone out of her way to move a large armchair into the room, and she now lounged on it, looking completely out of place with the rest of the dorm’s atmosphere.

The moment Yvonne Hollis heard "Fenton Bank" and "family business," her eyes flashed with greed. "Shelby, you’re so lucky! School hasn’t even started and you already have a job lined up! Getting to join the family business... you’re so much better off than people like us who’ll have to pound the pavement at job fairs!"

"Well, of course. That’s what you get for being the daughter of the Fenton family! For being born into a life of luxury! It’s something you can only dream of." As she spoke, Shelby Fenton raised her right hand. "See this watch? It’s a world-famous Patek Philippe. A little thing like this costs over a hundred thousand! It was a gift from my dad for getting into university. What do you think? Beautiful, right?"

"It’s gorgeous! You’re just so incredibly lucky!" Yvonne Hollis’s eyes looked ready to pop out of her head. She had never seen such an expensive watch before! The price of that one watch was enough to cover her tuition for all four years! ’This is the world of the wealthy!’

"Hey, you on the top bunk. I’ll give you a chance to see the world. Come on down and take a look at what a real world-class watch looks like. I guarantee you’ve never seen anything so valuable with your own eyes before! I don’t know what good deeds you two did in a past life to get so lucky as to end up in the same room as me. Otherwise, given your station in life, you’d probably go your whole lives without ever coming across something this high-end!"

’Shelby Fenton’s nose was so high in the air it was a wonder she could breathe. Seraphina had seen people exaggerate before, but never to this extent. She’d seen people show off, but someone this shameless about it was a first. Shelby Fenton was truly redefining her perception of a wealthy heiress. How could the Fenton Family have produced such a classless daughter?’

"No, thanks. I got here late and still haven’t finished unpacking. Let Yvonne Hollis take her time admiring it," Seraphina refused flatly. ’It wasn’t like she was short on watches, and she’d certainly seen luxury brands before. She just really didn’t want to listen to Shelby Fenton’s ridiculously over-the-top bragging; she was afraid she might lose her appetite for dinner.’

Shelby Fenton had already unclasped the watch from her wrist. When she heard Seraphina’s refusal, her proud smile froze on her face. She had never imagined someone would actually turn down her invitation! This dealt a massive blow to her formidable pride as a wealthy heiress! She had already deigned to greet this person, but in return, she’d only received a single glance! It was as if she wasn’t even on her radar! ’How could she possibly stand it!’

Yvonne Hollis was perceptive. Seeing the look on Shelby Fenton’s face, she immediately turned on Seraphina. "Shelby, don’t pay her any mind. She’s probably just some girl who tested in from the countryside. She hasn’t seen the world—a total hick! She probably doesn’t even know what a luxury brand is! Something this precious... even if you put it right in front of her, she wouldn’t know how to appreciate it! If your watch knew you were letting such a lowly person admire it, it would probably die of a broken heart!"

Just as she’d hoped, Shelby Fenton’s expression immediately softened. Her usual arrogance returned full force. "You have a point. Not just anyone is qualified to appreciate a top-tier watch like this! I’d hate for it to get any of her country stench on it! And what if she accidentally broke it? She couldn’t afford to pay for it even if she sold herself!"

Yvonne Hollis had been hoping to hold the watch and feel its weight in her own hands. But because of Seraphina’s refusal, Shelby had put the newly-removed watch right back on, and Yvonne lost her chance. She had missed her opportunity to get up close and personal with a piece of jewelry worth over a hundred thousand! Yvonne shot Seraphina a venomous glare. ’It’s all her fault. If she doesn’t want to look, fine, but did she have to ruin it for everyone else?’

No matter how annoyed Yvonne felt, she didn’t dare take it out on Shelby Fenton. This girl was a patron saint she couldn’t afford to offend, especially since she was still hoping to ride her coattails. "You’re right. It’s better to keep something so valuable safe. It’s most secure on your wrist. It would be terrible if anything happened to it!"

"Tch! So clueless! No spine! It’s just a little watch, and it scares you this much? I have five of these! What’s the big deal if one or two get broken?" Shelby tilted her chin up, her arrogant expression almost painful to look at. She deliberately glanced toward Seraphina, who was still busy on her bed. However, Seraphina was currently wrestling with a mosquito net and couldn’t care less what the other two were saying.
