The fact that you chose to get involved in this mess in the first place proves you aren’t that clever after all!" Seraphina Sterling didn’t hold back. Evan Shelton hadn’t sided with the counselor because he’d seen the message she sent on his phone. He knew from the very beginning that the counselor’s plan was doomed to fail, so he bailed at the last second. It wasn’t some sudden attack of conscience!

Evan Shelton’s lips twitched, his expression stiffening. ’This girl shouldn’t be in our School of Economics and Management; she belongs in the law school next door. With a silver tongue like that, it’s a waste of talent for her not to become a lawyer!’

"This is Aethel Garden, the last student dorm on campus. We can’t do anything about it. You came late, and the dorms for our school’s female students are already full, so you’ll have to live with students from other schools! The counselor will send any important information to your phone. Military training officially starts tomorrow. Assembly is at six, so don’t be late!" After giving his instructions, Evan Shelton immediately headed back to his school building. ’That was way too close,’ he thought. ’I almost got a demerit. If I’m ever running late for class, I can just jump down to save time!’ Seraphina was quite satisfied with her floor assignment.

The dorm room was a quad, but since she had arrived late, the other three spots were already taken. Only the outermost bed by the window was left. Silently, Seraphina Sterling began arranging her bedding, putting the little hiccup from registration behind her. ’My university life is about to begin!’

Before Seraphina Sterling had even finished unpacking, a string of complaints reached her ears.

"No! You’re the one who chose this university. If it were any other school, you could apply to live off-campus, but this is Aethelgard University. First-year students are not allowed to live off-campus! This was your choice. The conditions here might be a bit poor, so I’ll give you some extra allowance.
