Chapter 756: Chapter 753: I Won’t Die Without Dragging You Down With Me
Tears streamed down Jean Jarvis’s face. Her lips trembled as she tried to speak, but no words came out.
Clara Grant watched her, feeling a pang of pity. She walked over to them, picked up the piece of clothing Jean Jarvis had haphazardly draped over Chloe Grant, and used it to properly cover her exposed skin.
Jean Jarvis looked up at her. There was no gratitude in her eyes; instead, they were filled with hostility. She spoke coldly, "We don’t need your phony sympathy... Save your fake act. We don’t need it!"
Clara Grant straightened up and looked down at her coolly, saying nothing.
’They say a person’s final words are kind, but Jean Jarvis was clearly an exception.’
But she didn’t want to argue with a dying woman right now.
Cedric Grant, however, had no such patience. He snapped at Clara Grant, "Clara, why are you bothering with them? Ungrateful, unappreciative people like them don’t deserve anyone’s sympathy!"
Jean Jarvis turned her head. Her gaze, filled with resentment, was fixed on Cedric Grant. A smile touched her lips, but it was a smile filled with coldness and hate.
"Cedric Grant, since you have no shred of affection left for my daughter and me, I won’t let you get away scot-free!"
As she spoke, she struggled to take out her phone with one hand. She looked down, fumbled with it for a moment, found a number, and pressed the dial button.
The call was answered quickly. When Jean Jarvis heard Theodore Quinn’s voice, a triumphant smile appeared on her face.
She was determined to make Theodore Quinn hear about that incident with his own ears.
Hearing her words and seeing her make the call, Cedric Grant was suddenly struck by an ominous premonition. Before he could even figure out what was happening, Jean Jarvis was already holding up the phone and speaking to him again.
"Cedric Grant, don’t you feel any shame for impersonating someone’s savior? Don’t you feel ashamed for stealing someone else’s credit to curry favor with the Quinn Family?"
Cedric Grant’s heart leaped into his throat. He never imagined that even on her deathbed, she would still expose that secret.
Hearing Jean Jarvis’s words, not only was Clara Grant in disbelief, but even Seth Quinn was stunned for a moment.
Both of them turned to look at Cedric Grant in unison. Under their probing gazes, Cedric’s face burned with heat.
He uncomfortably averted his gaze and roared at Jean Jarvis, "What nonsense are you spouting?! Are your injuries making you delirious?"
"Hah, Cedric Grant, you’re a truly convincing actor! Of course, if you weren’t, how could you have possibly fooled Theodore Quinn?" Blood began to trickle from the corner of Jean Jarvis’s mouth. Her eyes drifted away, her gaze losing focus as if she were lost in memory.
"Have you forgotten? When I suggested you pretend to be his savior, you didn’t hesitate for a second. You agreed instantly. You said that with that identity, you’d have the Quinn Family as your protective talisman. Relying on them, the Grant Family’s status in Novaria would soon rise.
"Back then, Cedric, why didn’t you find me ungrateful and unappreciative? Cedric Grant, I told you before, if you pushed me too far, I wouldn’t mind taking you down with me.
"Did you think I couldn’t do anything to you just because I’m on my last breath? I, Jean Jarvis, always get my revenge! I won’t die until I’ve dragged you down, you heartless man!"
Jean Jarvis’s voice was weak and she spoke in fits and starts, but everyone present—and Theodore Quinn on the other end of the line—heard every word clearly.
