After Jean Jarvis finished her last sentence, she asked into the phone, "Brother Quinn, did you hear all that? If you don’t believe me, you can ask my cousin, Marcus Jarvis. He’s the one who actually saved you back then..."

Cedric Grant was shocked. She was actually calling Theodore Quinn. Now, he didn’t even have a chance to explain or salvage the situation.

Burning with rage, he strode toward Jean Jarvis. "Jean Jarvis, you crazy woman..."

Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the phone in Jean Jarvis’s hand fall to the ground. Her upper body, which had been leaning against the sofa, suddenly slid off and slumped sideways onto the floor, motionless.

Cedric Grant jumped in fright, standing there completely stunned, forgetting to react.

Seth Quinn walked over, his expression grim. He reached out to check for breath under Jean Jarvis’s nose. She wasn’t breathing.

Looking at the lifeless Jean Jarvis, Cedric Grant’s mind was in turmoil. ’She really was a curse sent by heaven to torture me!’

At the Quinn family’s home, Theodore Quinn hung up the phone. Sienna Hale, who had been leaning close to the phone and had heard everything Jean Jarvis said, looked utterly baffled. She asked hesitantly, yet in shock, "Wh-what does that mean? Cedric Grant wasn’t the one who saved you? He’s been lying to us all this time?"

Theodore Quinn’s expression was just as dark. He nodded grimly. To think that for so long, he had regarded Cedric Grant as his savior, only to find out it was all a sham!

"This is outrageous! How could he play with our feelings like that over something so important?" Sienna Hale said, filled with righteous indignation. Then, as if she had thought of something, she added, "That cousin Jean Jarvis mentioned, Marcus Jarvis... could that also be a lie to trick us?"

Theodore Quinn hesitated for a moment before muttering, "We’ll have to find some time to meet him and ask. We can’t afford to get something like this wrong a second time!"

In the end, Seth Quinn followed Clara Grant’s suggestion. He first called an ambulance to take away the unconscious Chloe Grant before calling the police to handle the body.

Seth Quinn had Cedric Grant stay behind to give a statement to the police, while he left first with Clara Grant.

After they got downstairs and into the car, Seth Quinn started the engine and quickly drove away.

Clara Grant turned to look at him and asked worriedly, "Seth, is it really okay for us to leave first? We’re both eyewitnesses. Don’t we need to give a statement?"

"What’s not okay about it? If any cop has a problem with it, they can come find me. But I doubt any police officer in Novaria would dare," Seth Quinn said dismissively.

Clara Grant shook her head helplessly. "Yes, I know. You’re Seth Quinn, the big shot in Novaria that no one dares to cross!"

"Is that so?" Seth Quinn glanced at her. "But if you know no one dares to cross me, then why do you?"

Before Clara Grant could react, he continued, "You make me worry sick about you! Do you have any idea how dangerous today’s situation was? If I had been one step slower, you would be dead, you know that?"

"I know, I know. I was wrong. I promise I won’t be so reckless again," Clara Grant said, tugging on his sleeve to appease him and apologize.

Then, as if afraid Seth Quinn would continue to lecture her, she quickly changed the subject. "Oh, by the way, I ran into Poppy and Brother Jennings today. Poppy’s belly is huge now. She said that since she’s pregnant, she can’t go anywhere and gets bored staying home all by herself, so she asked me to visit her more often."

Seth Quinn glanced at her again and huffed, "Right now, I’m kind of wishing you were pregnant too."
