Chapter 754: Chapter 751: Danger

But Jean Jarvis’s injuries must have been too severe; despite several attempts, she couldn’t manage to drape the clothing over Chloe Grant.

She looked at Chloe Grant, a single tear escaping the corner of her eye as she murmured, "My daughter, I’m so sorry. Mommy... Mommy failed to protect you..."

Clara Grant glanced at Jean Jarvis and Chloe Grant, then said to Cedric Grant, "Call the police. And an ambulance," before stepping into the house and walking toward them.

Jolted by Clara Grant’s reminder, the stunned Cedric Grant finally snapped out of it. He quickly agreed and pulled out his phone to call the police.

Even though he despised Jean Jarvis at that moment, he still couldn’t accept the idea of her being murdered just like that.

Adam Warren, who was laughing uncontrollably, suddenly heard Clara Grant’s words. He spun around to look at Cedric Grant. ’The police? Fine. I’ve already got a body on my hands. Even if this knife doesn’t kill him, I’m a dead man if the cops catch me. One murder, two murders—it’s a death sentence either way. In that case, I don’t mind adding a few more to the count!’

He staggered forward, brandishing the knife as he lunged toward Cedric Grant at the doorway.

Cedric Grant had his head down, dialing the number, completely unaware of the approaching danger.

Clara Grant, who hadn’t yet reached Jean Jarvis, saw Adam Warren’s movement and instantly realized what he was about to do. She froze. It was too late to warn Cedric Grant to get out of the way. Without a second thought, she acted on pure instinct, lunging forward and wrapping her arms around Adam Warren’s waist.

Caught off guard, Adam Warren violently threw her off, sending Clara Grant sprawling to the ground. He then turned, his target instantly shifting to the fallen Clara Grant.

"Since you don’t want Cedric Grant to die, I’ll just kill you first," he said with a vicious sneer, plunging the knife toward Clara Grant.

The force of the throw left Clara Grant in too much pain to get up. Just as the pain subsided and she tried to scramble to her feet, she saw the knife in Adam Warren’s hand coming straight for her.

She was so terrified she froze on the spot, forgetting to scream for help or even to dodge.

Just as she thought she was about to die under Adam Warren’s knife, a figure suddenly appeared in her line of sight. The person lifted their foot and kicked Adam Warren squarely in the waist.

The kick sent Adam Warren flying a good distance. He slammed into the wall before collapsing to the floor. After a few twitches, he went still.

Without sparing Adam a glance, Seth Quinn rushed to Clara Grant’s side and knelt down, his face etched with anxiety and worry. "Clara, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Hearing Seth Quinn’s voice, Clara Grant finally came to her senses. She looked at him, her gaze slowly coming into focus.

It had been a close call, and she was still reeling from the shock. She reached out and gripped Seth Quinn’s sleeve tightly, shaking her head. "I’m fine," she said softly. "You... what are you doing here?"

Even though she said she was fine, Seth Quinn still checked her over. When he saw bloodstains on her arm, he immediately grew tense. "Why is there blood here? Are you hurt? Does it hurt?"

"No, this blood isn’t mine. I must have gotten it on me earlier," Clara Grant said, wiping away the blood to reveal her smooth, unmarked arm.

Seth Quinn finally breathed a sigh of relief. Recalling the scene he had just witnessed, a chilling wave of fear washed over him. ’If I hadn’t arrived in time, that knife would probably be sticking out of her chest right now, wouldn’t it?’
