Chapter 738: Chapter 735: It’s Good You’re Not Dead, So I Won’t Be Sentenced to Death

Outside the detention center, Sierra Sutton stepped out of a taxi. After paying the fare, he turned to see the center’s main gate open and someone walk out.

When he saw who it was, Sierra froze. It was Yvette Zimmerman.

The Yvette Zimmerman before him was a far cry from the spirited, impeccably dressed socialite she once was. She now looked somewhat shabby, her posture slumped, appearing both miserable and helpless.

Yvette took a few slow steps, and when she looked up, she saw Sierra standing not far in front of her.

Yvette was stunned for a moment, then ran forward in delight. She grabbed Sierra’s hand and asked, "Sierra, are you here to see Autumn?"

Sierra hesitated before giving a slight nod.

"That’s wonderful! She’ll definitely agree to see you. Sierra, you have no idea... Ever since she was...brought in, I’ve come every day for the past two weeks, but she’s refused to see me. Not even once."

As Yvette spoke, tears streamed down her face, and she looked utterly heartbroken. "No matter what I say or how I beg, she just won’t see me! But now you’re here. I’m so glad you came. She’ll definitely see you."

"Sierra, I know Autumn wronged you. I’ve seen how you’ve felt about her all these years. But she let you down, and... and she even hit you with her car...

But it’s my fault, and your uncle’s. If we hadn’t been so set on her marrying Seth Quinn, perhaps things would have been different for you two. The truth is, she still has feelings for you.

Sierra, you still have feelings for Autumn, don’t you? If you do, please, go beg Seth Quinn. Go beg Clara Grant. Ask them to let Autumn go, please? Autumn is still so young. Does she have to spend the rest of her life in prison? That would be too cruel!"

Sierra’s expression was cold as he listened to her in silence. When she finished, he didn’t answer her questions, saying only, "Auntie, I’m going in to see her now."

Yvette was taken aback for a second, then nodded quickly. "Oh, right, right. You should go in."

Sierra nodded at her, then moved past her and headed straight for the detention center’s gate.

He had only taken two steps when Yvette called out to him again. He turned to look back at her.

"Sierra, when you see Autumn, you have to tell her I’m very worried. Tell her to take care of herself in there... and that I’ll be waiting for her when she gets out."

After a moment, Sierra simply nodded again, saying nothing.

The gate to the detention center opened, and he stepped inside.

Yvette wiped away her tears, a faint smile gracing her lips. ’Thank goodness Sierra still has feelings for Autumn.’

’This is perfect. As long as Sierra still cares for Autumn, as long as he goes and pleads with Clara Grant, Autumn will be out soon.’

’Once she’s out, I’ll have her go back to the U.S.A with Sierra and the baby. Their family of three can still live a happy life together.’

...

In the visitation room, Sierra sat waiting. Soon, the sound of hurried, frantic footsteps approached, and then Autumn Shelby was escorted in.

When Autumn saw Sierra sitting there, a flash of delight crossed her face. She quickened her pace for a few steps, but when she saw him look up at her, she slowed down, her expression returning to one of calm composure.

She walked to the chair opposite his and slowly sat down, her eyes fixed on him for a long time.

’He looked like he had recovered, but his face was still a little pale, and he seemed even thinner than before.’

In truth, she wanted to ask if he was okay, if the baby was okay. But when she opened her mouth, the words that came out were,

"You’re not dead? Good. That means I won’t get the death penalty."
