Yvette Zimmerman froze for a second when she saw her daughter get hit. Then, tears instantly streamed down her face. Her daughter had never been slapped so hard in her life!

Her heart aching, she cried out through her tears, "Autumn," and started to rush forward to shield her.

But Evan Shelby was quicker, grabbing her arm to stop her. Baffled, Yvette Zimmerman turned to look at him.

Just moments before, Evan Shelby had heard Seth Quinn reveal the secrets of the past in front of everyone. He felt that Autumn Shelby had utterly disgraced him, leaving the Shelby family’s reputation in tatters.

"What are you doing? Can’t you see they’re hurting Autumn? Let me go," Yvette Zimmerman said in a low voice.

"What am I doing? I should be asking what *you’re* doing!" The anger in Evan Shelby’s suppressed voice was unmistakable. "Your precious daughter brought this on herself. If you don’t let the Quinn family vent their anger now, they’ll turn on the Shelby family next."

"Use your head. Which is worse: Autumn taking some heat right now, or the Shelby Group going bankrupt?"

Yvette Zimmerman stopped struggling. ’He’s right. If the Quinn family moves against the Shelby family, the Shelby Group wouldn’t be completely helpless, but they could only defend, not fight back. And they wouldn’t last long.’

Then, Sienna Hale turned to Evan Shelby and Yvette Zimmerman, her voice laced with pain. "More than twenty years... That’s not just how long Autumn and our Seth have known each other. That’s how long our families have been friends."

"We couldn’t become family, and even though that was because Autumn ran out on the wedding, we still believed you. For the sake of our two decades of friendship, we even forgave you. But..."

"I just never imagined the Shelby family could be capable of something so despicable!"

"Sienna, Brother Quinn, please listen to me. This isn’t what you think," Evan Shelby suddenly interjected. He shot Autumn Shelby a furious, teeth-clenched glare before continuing.
