Chapter 714: Chapter 711: Who Exactly Is the Child’s Mother? (1)
But just as she closed her eyes, she saw the little boy walking in another direction.
Then, to her astonishment, the little boy lunged into Clara Grant’s arms,
still chirping happily, "Mommy, Mommy..."
Autumn Shelby froze. ’The boy is calling Clara Grant "Mommy"?!’
It wasn’t just her; nearly everyone at the scene was stunned.
Clara Grant looked a little embarrassed. She’d forgotten that ever since she’d spent his birthday with him, the little boy had been convinced she was his mother.
She subconsciously glanced at Seth Quinn beside her. The man’s brow was slightly furrowed, his expression cold as he stared at the child. She parted her lips, about to say something, but ultimately said nothing at all.
Though it was awkward, Clara Grant still bent down and picked up the little boy, speaking to him with a gentle smile. "Sweetie, you’re here too?"
The little boy couldn’t say much else, just kept happily calling for his "Mommy."
After her initial shock, Autumn Shelby felt a wave of relief. ’Thank goodness, thank goodness he isn’t calling for me.’
But watching the little boy nestled in Clara Grant’s arms, sweetly calling her "Mommy," a strange feeling of discomfort crept in alongside her relief.
It was only then that Sierra Sutton noticed Clara Grant. His surprise was even greater than when he had seen Yvette Zimmerman and Autumn Shelby. ’Clara Grant? What is she doing here?’
Then, Sierra’s gaze fell on Seth Quinn, the man beside Clara. He suddenly frowned. ’Could it be? Is Clara Grant Seth Quinn’s wife? The very woman Autumn Shelby is so determined to go up against?’
Just as he was pondering this, the little boy suddenly hopped down from Clara’s arms and ran back to Sierra Sutton’s side as fast as he could.
With the child gone, Clara Grant looked up at Seth Quinn. He had just said that he would believe anything she told him, so she felt it was necessary to explain this business with the little boy calling her "Mommy."
"Seth, listen to me. This is all just a misunderstanding, really. The little boy is desperate for a mother’s love, but it seems his own mother doesn’t have much time to spend with him. So when I played with him, he just naturally started to think of me as his mom.
"There’s no blood relation between us, I swear. And there’s absolutely nothing going on between me and Sierra Sutton. You... you believe me, don’t you?"
Seth Quinn stared at her for two seconds. He parted his lips, about to speak, when the little boy’s voice piped up again. "Baba, Mama."
They both turned their heads at the same time and saw the little boy had returned, pulling Sierra Sutton along with him.
The "Baba" and "Mama" he was calling out seemed to be his way of telling Sierra Sutton, "Daddy, look, Mommy’s over here."
As the little boy called out for his "Baba" and "Mama," he held Sierra Sutton’s hand with one of his own and reached for Clara Grant’s with the other, as if he had already decided the three of them—"Daddy," "Mommy," and him—were a family.
Clara Grant grew even more embarrassed. She instinctively glanced at Seth Quinn, whose expression had now turned colder and grimmer.
She wanted to say something, but before she could even speak, Seth Quinn’s arm shot out. The next second, Clara Grant was pulled tightly into his embrace.
The little boy’s hand grasped at empty air. He tilted his small head up, looking at the man who had "stolen" his "mommy," and his little lip immediately began to quiver. His big eyes welled with hurt.
Sierra Sutton’s expression also grew a little awkward. He gave Clara Grant an apologetic smile. "Miss Grant, I’m so sorry."
Then he bent down, picked up the little boy, and gently corrected the way he addressed Clara Grant. "Sweetie, did you forget what Daddy told you? This is Auntie, not Mommy. You have to call her Auntie from now on, okay?"
