Chapter 664: Chapter 661: A Slight Regret Without Her Witness

Clara Grant had originally planned to put him on the bed and leave, but she didn’t expect him to wake up again. She glanced at the time. It was getting late, and she really should be heading back.

So, she said to Sierra Sutton, "Mr. Sutton, I’ll leave the baby with you. I should get going now."

Sierra Sutton nodded quickly. "Okay, you should head back. I’m so sorry for taking up your whole day."

"It’s no problem. Besides, I had a wonderful time today," Clara Grant said with a smile. Just as she was about to stand up, the baby suddenly turned and hugged her, babbling, "Yiyi, cakey, cakey..."

Clara Grant froze for a moment, then realized what he meant. ’He probably wants me to eat cake with him.’

Sierra Sutton looked at the baby and saw that his little eyes were filled with anticipation. He paused for a moment, then spoke to Clara Grant again. "Miss Grant, why don’t you stay and have some cake with us before you go?"

He knew he had already taken up a lot of her time and that he shouldn’t delay her any longer, but for his son’s sake, he selfishly asked her to stay.

After all, it was his son’s birthday, and he desperately wanted him to have a complete and happy first birthday.

Clara Grant hesitated. She glanced at the time again. ’It’s already 5:30 PM. It’s over an hour’s drive from here to the Quinn Family’s home. If I stay for cake, I won’t get back until around eight or nine. Seth Quinn will probably be home long before then, won’t he?’

Seeing her hesitate, Sierra Sutton added, "Having a piece of cake won’t take much time."

While the two of them were talking, the baby, taking advantage of their distraction, crawled to the other side of the sofa, grabbed one of his toys, and then slid off the couch.

He lost his balance and tumbled down, but luckily, there was a carpet on the floor, so it didn’t hurt.

He struggled to get up from the floor. First, he sat up, then propped himself up with his hands, planted his feet, stuck his little bottom in the air, and wobbled to his feet.

He glanced at the toy in his hand, and then his little body swayed as he took wobbly steps toward Clara Grant.

Sierra Sutton was the first to see the baby trying to walk all on his own, without any help. He was stunned for a second, then cried out in delighted surprise, "Baby!"

Clara Grant looked down, only then realizing the baby was no longer in front of her.

The sound of the baby’s giggles reached her. She turned her head and saw that he had already made his way to her side on his own two little legs.

Clara Grant stared at him in astonishment, hardly able to believe her eyes. She turned to Sierra Sutton and asked, "Did he walk over here all by himself?"

Sierra Sutton, so excited he was halfway out of his seat, wanted to go hug the baby, but the little one beat him to it and threw himself into Clara Grant’s arms.

He stared at his son’s innocent, smiling face as he answered Clara Grant, "Yes, yes, he walked over all by himself."

Clara Grant hugged the baby tightly and couldn’t resist planting a kiss on his cheek, praising him happily. "You’re so amazing, baby! You can walk now!"

As she spoke, she looked over at Sierra Sutton. "Mr. Sutton, this is truly a day to remember. Not only is it the baby’s first birthday, but he also learned to walk on the very same day."

Sierra Sutton was clearly overjoyed as well, clasping his hands and rubbing them together gently. "Yes, I really didn’t expect this either. Actually, two or three months ago he could already move around while holding onto things, and he could walk quite smoothly if you held one of his hands, but he never dared to walk on his own. I can’t believe he just suddenly did it today."

A wave of sadness suddenly washed over him. ’It’s just... for such a memorable moment to happen without the baby’s mother here to see it with her own eyes... it still feels like a small regret.’
