Chapter 638: Chapter 635: You Say It Wasn’t You, Then Who Do You Think It Was?

"Are you saying I’m the one who used her? President Quinn, you can’t just accuse an innocent person like that." Faye Jennings looked the very picture of innocence. "How could I have used her? It wasn’t my decision whether she bought them, and it certainly wasn’t my call what the seller sold, or if they sold at all.

Besides, I don’t even know who the seller she contacted was. How could I have possibly orchestrated the deal between them?"

Seth Quinn and Clara Grant exchanged a glance before looking back at Faye Jennings. He raised an eyebrow and said, "I just said that Sandra was used by you. As for *how* she was used... I don’t believe I mentioned that, did I?

If it wasn’t you, how would you know that Sandra’s deal with the seller was orchestrated by a third party?"

Faye Jennings’s heart lurched. ’I was too hasty with my explanation and overlooked that detail.’ But she quickly composed herself, her mind spinning as she spoke:

"Sandra’s the one who told me. I believe I mentioned to you both that after the incident, Sandra told me everything that happened. That naturally included how she managed to buy the bullets.

When she told me back then, I thought she was just trying to absolve herself, that she was lying to me. But now, hearing you say that Sandra was being used, it made me realize that things were indeed a bit suspicious.

She told me that when she originally called the seller, they said they were real bullets and were also very expensive. Naturally, Sandra gave up on the idea of buying them.

But the very next day, that same seller proactively contacted her, saying they also had harmless replica bullets that were very cheap. That’s why Sandra ultimately decided to buy them.

So, when you said she was being used, and I put that together with what she told me, I just guessed that someone must have been orchestrating the deal from the shadows."

Seth Quinn stared at Faye Jennings for a long moment, not looking away until he saw a flicker of panic in her eyes. Only then did he part his lips to speak. "You say it wasn’t you, so who do you think it was? Who would want to use Sandra to put Clara to death?"

The look on his face suggested he’d believed her, and Faye Jennings inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. A faint smile touched her lips. "President Quinn, I... I really couldn’t say. This is no small matter. How could I possibly make wild accusations?"

Clara Grant, who had been silent at the side, suddenly spoke. "Why did you tell Sandra to stonewall the police and refuse to give them the seller’s information?"

Faye Jennings’s heart, which had just begun to settle, started hammering in her chest again at Clara Grant’s question.

’How could Clara Grant know that? Did she go see Sandra?’

’But even if she did, Sandra would never have told her. In Sandra’s mind, Clara Grant is the enemy, and I, Faye Jennings, am the one who’s protecting her.’

’How could she possibly have turned on me?’

Faye Jennings’s gaze landed on Clara Grant, her eyes fixed on her as if trying to see right through her.

She was trying to determine if Clara Grant actually knew the truth or was just bluffing to trap her.

But Clara Grant’s expression was far too calm and composed. Faye couldn’t read a thing.

"Clara, what are you talking about? Why would I ever tell Sandra to do that? I’m anxious for her to confess so the police can get the evidence they need.

After all, I was the one who reported her. If the police can’t get to the bottom of this, I’ll start to feel like I made a false accusation. I’d feel terrible for her, and my conscience wouldn’t be clear.

Besides, you were there that day. You heard every word of my conversation with Sandra. And yes, when the police were taking her away, I did run over to say a few things to her. But as I already told you, I only did it because I felt guilty and wanted to see her off."
