Chapter 215: Jiang He: I’ll Take That!

"Your second Sacred Beast is quite excellent too. But soon it will be mine!"

After drawing his card, Rowan let the corner of his mouth curl up as he spoke to Kagemaru, far across the field inside his life support machine.

"What?"

Kagemaru's face changed slightly at that, wary and suspicious.

"Relinquished may be able to absorb one monster on the opponent's field once per turn and make it an Equip Card. But going by what you revealed yourself earlier, with a monster already equipped, it shouldn't be able to use that effect again to absorb another!"

He didn't know Relinquished's exact effects all that well. Still, from the things Rowan had mentioned before, combined with the rumors he had heard himself, he could piece together a fair amount!

"You're right. With Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, already under my control, Relinquished's effect of absorbing the opponent's monster can't be used for now."

"But that doesn't stop me from using other means of assistance!"

As he spoke, Rowan revealed the card he had just drawn.

"I activate the Spell Card Graceful Charity from my hand! I draw three cards from the top of my Deck and add them to my hand, then choose two cards from my hand and discard them to the Graveyard!"

Alexis Rhodes, Jaden Yuki, Chazz, and the others all looked familiar at the sight of the giant Spell Card projection that appeared on the field in front of Rowan.

Graceful Charity was one of the old friends Rowan reused most often. It usually turned up whenever he needed to send specific cards to the Graveyard to trigger their effects.

It seemed that this time, too, he had cards that needed to be discarded before their effects could activate!

And that was exactly the case.

Rowan drew three cards from the top of his Deck and added them to his hand, bringing it back up to seven cards.

A sunny smile spread across his face as he pulled out the two cards he meant to discard and held them up.

"The two cards I'm discarding are, of course, this filler Level 1 monster, Mystic Piper, and another Level 1 monster, Golden-Eyes Idol!"

Of the two cards Rowan revealed, one was the familiar circus piper.

The other was a strange monster shaped like a small figure made from a golden egg, covered in golden eyes.

"Golden-Eyes Idol?"

Kagemaru across the field, Chancellor Sheppard, Kaiser Zane Truesdale, Professor Crowler, and the rest all wore looks of bewilderment.

Another monster they were seeing for the first time?

Then again, this Duel world was full of unknowns to begin with, and none of them dwelled on where Rowan had gotten it. What struck them instead was the name and appearance of Golden-Eyes Idol, which gave them an immediate gut feeling that its effect would be nasty.

Especially after they saw that familiar, "sunny" and brilliant smile on Rowan's face...!

"Golden-Eyes Idol's special effect! When it is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect, I select one effect monster on my opponent's field and use it as an Equip Card for a monster on my field with 'Relinquished' in its name!"

"And that monster's ATK rises by the same value as the equipped monster!"

"That's impossible!"

Kagemaru cried out in disbelief.

"The one I'm choosing to control is, of course, your Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder! Golden-Eyes Idol, Minotaur's Double Control!"

As Kagemaru's face changed color, Rowan sent the two cards straight into the Graveyard slot of his Duel Disk, then swept a hand toward Hamon, the Sacred Beast hovering above the opposing field.

Give it here!

"HUMMM!!"

The next second, the strange little golden-egg evil god burst out of the Graveyard on his Duel Disk in a flash of light.

It landed in the air above the field far across from him, and a golden single-eye mark appeared on the forehead of the giant, savage, earthen-yellow skeletal monster.

Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, seemed to fall under the spell of that evil god's power at once. The light of spirit and reason drained from its eyes, and it flew of its own accord onto Rowan's side of the field, straight into the wide-open belly maw of the dark green Relinquished.

Only its sallow-yellow skeletal head remained outside, lined up next to the lifeless, worn-out-looking crimson dragon head of Uria, Lord of Searing Flames...

And Relinquished's ATK, which had been a scrubby 0, shot up with a series of beeps until it matched Hamon's, 4000!

"Your Sacred Beasts are so handy," Rowan said, finally nodding in satisfaction at the sight. He sighed the words across the field at Kagemaru.

"..." Alexis Rhodes, Daichi Misawa, Chazz, and the others all wore expressions that defied description.

Chancellor Sheppard and the other teachers shivered at the sight too, cold sweat pouring down their faces.

All of them instinctively took two steps back.

Just by putting themselves in the opponent's shoes for a moment, they felt as if they had been cuckolded by Rowan twice in a row...!

And the old man Kagemaru's face had already turned a deep, cuckolded green!

Full of pent-up humiliation, he stared at the two Sacred Beast heads that had been absorbed in front of the dark green Relinquished on Rowan's field and now served as Equip Cards.

He wanted to say something, but the words choked in his throat.
