Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 448: Her Bodyguard and Meticulous Care
Ivy Sherwood had planned to just ignore Quentin Blackwood, but he followed her everywhere she went.
"Aren’t you going home?" Ivy Sherwood asked.
Quentin Blackwood chuckled. "Are you worried about me?"
"You’re reading too much into it. I’d ask a stray dog on the street if it had eaten."
Ivy Sherwood walked around to the front of her car, ready to open the door.
Since she was working late, she had told her brother not to pick her up. Ivy Sherwood planned to drive herself home.
"Let me drive for you. You’ve worked all day, and it’s not good to drive while fatigued." Quentin Blackwood moved to the driver’s side.
"No, thank you," Ivy Sherwood refused. Just as she reached for the door handle, Quentin Blackwood swept her up into his arms.
"What are you doing?!" Ivy Sherwood struggled in his arms.
Quentin Blackwood pulled open the passenger door, bundled Ivy Sherwood inside, then locked it before walking around to the driver’s seat.
The great President Blackwood, now willingly acting as a chauffeur, started the car and drove all the way to Ivy Sherwood’s apartment building.
Ivy Sherwood refused to communicate with Quentin Blackwood, not saying a single word the entire drive.
After he parked the car, Quentin Blackwood said, "We’re here."
Ivy Sherwood didn’t want to get out and sat there without moving.
It was Quentin Blackwood who got out first. He walked around, opened Ivy’s door, and when he saw she wasn’t moving, he simply reached in and lifted her out.
"You..."
"Since you didn’t want to walk up on your own, I had to do the honors." Quentin Blackwood was more than happy to oblige.
Ignoring Ivy Sherwood’s struggles, Quentin Blackwood carried her upstairs. He simply lifted a hand and unlocked the new keypad lock on her door before placing her down on the sofa inside.
He then fetched her slippers from the entryway, helped her take off her shoes, and put them away in the shoe cabinet by the door.
If anyone who knew Quentin Blackwood saw this, their jaws would hit the floor. Who could have imagined the president of DG Group personally taking off a woman’s shoes for her?
"Do you want to take a shower? I can go run the water for you."
"I’m not showering. Quentin Blackwood, have I not been clear enough? We’re over. You don’t have to do all this. I won’t be moved by it."
Seeing Ivy Sherwood’s angry expression, Quentin Blackwood suddenly couldn’t resist leaning over and placing a kiss between her eyebrows.
"I know. But I have the right to pursue you again, don’t I? I’m not doing this to win you over with grand gestures. I just want to be by your side. Just being able to see you, to touch you... that’s enough for me."
"You..."
"I know you don’t want me around, you don’t want to see me, but I can’t stay away. If you don’t let me see you, then I’ll just have to hide and watch you in secret. That would make me seem like a pervert, wouldn’t it? So, I have no choice but to show up, even if you hate me for it."
Ivy Sherwood: "..."
’How could someone be so brazen about acting like a creep!’
"Just treat me like a servant you can order around. I’m worth several people combined. I can clean for you, cook for you, be your driver. You can even ask me for help with any work-related problems. And you don’t have to pay me. Isn’t that a fantastic deal?"
"I don’t need one."
"That’s fine, too. Then just think of me as an ordinary admirer. Seth Scott likes you too, doesn’t he? And you still talk to him."
Quentin Blackwood never expected Ivy Sherwood to forgive him easily. Just being able to see her was enough to put his heart at ease.
"Why are you comparing yourself to him?"
Quentin Blackwood looked aggrieved. "Am I not even worthy of being compared to him now?"
Ivy Sherwood: "..."
"Are you hungry? Is there anything you want to eat? I can cook for you, or I can have someone come over to cook."
"No, thank you. You should go home."
"Then I’ll come pick you up tomorrow." Quentin Blackwood didn’t linger. He was afraid that staying too long would genuinely annoy her.
For the next few days, Quentin Blackwood showed up almost every day. He was like a shadow she couldn’t shake.
Even Julian Grant was puzzled. He knew Quentin Blackwood was in Lustre but hadn’t seen hide nor hair of him.
He’d call Quentin Blackwood, but the calls would go unanswered. When he finally got through and tried to invite him out for a drink, Quentin Blackwood refused.
"Why not, Quentin? What on earth are you so busy with? No one ever sees you."
"You wouldn’t understand." ’I’m busy trying to win my wife back.’
What was there not to understand? "If you don’t come, I’m just going to have to ask my sister-in-law."
Quentin Blackwood said, "If you can actually convince her to come, then I’ll be there."
Julian Grant went ahead and contacted Ivy Sherwood directly, but she politely declined, saying she was very busy.
Heartbroken, Julian Grant could only drink alone.
...
Ivy Sherwood had a business meeting to attend. The head of the other company, a major player, had personally come all the way to Lustre.
Ivy Sherwood had her team book a private room at a restaurant. Fearing a repeat of the last incident, Quentin Blackwood insisted on accompanying her.
Quentin Blackwood said, "Just think of me as your bodyguard. What if something like the incident with Charlie Rhodes happens again?"
Ivy considered it. The thought of what happened with Charlie Rhodes still frightened her, so she agreed to let Quentin Blackwood act as her temporary bodyguard.
The meeting was at a restaurant. Quentin, acting as both bodyguard and driver, brought Ivy to their destination and entered the private room with her.
"President Sherwood, hello. I’m the president of Blueprint Corporation. I..."
The man began to introduce himself, but he stopped in astonishment when he saw the person standing behind her.
Blueprint Corporation was based in Aethelgard and was a sizable company, a major enterprise in its own right.
He had, of course, seen Quentin Blackwood before. However, his company wasn’t nearly on the same level as DG Group. He simply never expected to run into him here.
"President Blackwood? You’re here as well?" He thought his eyes were deceiving him. ’This can’t just be someone who looks like him, can it?’
"You’re mistaken. I’m merely Miss Sherwood’s bodyguard," Quentin Blackwood said coolly.
The man wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. ’Can a bodyguard really have such a powerful presence?’
"He is, in fact, just my bodyguard. Mr. Linton, please."
Quentin Blackwood pulled out a chair for Ivy Sherwood, then proceeded to wash and sanitize her tableware all over again. His care was meticulous down to the smallest detail.
While Ivy Sherwood discussed business, Quentin Blackwood didn’t interfere. He just stood by silently, placing food on her plate and peeling shrimp for her. He seemed less like a bodyguard and more like a personal assistant.
Although Quentin Blackwood said nothing, his mere presence was enough to draw everyone’s gaze.
Mr. Linton couldn’t focus, his eyes constantly drifting toward Quentin Blackwood.
’Is that really not President Blackwood? He looks exactly like him.’
After Mr. Linton glanced over for the umpteenth time, Quentin Blackwood finally grew annoyed. "What are you looking at?"
Those five words alone were delivered with an aura that dominated the room.
"Nothing, nothing at all," Mr. Linton said, quickly averting his gaze. He felt immense pressure.
"President Sherwood, regarding the price... could we perhaps discuss it a bit more? Is there any chance of going a little lower?" Mr. Linton forced himself to focus on the negotiation.
This was already the lowest price Ivy was willing to offer. She said, "I’m sorry, but the price is non-negotiable."
"Our company has faced some difficulties these past two years, and we are genuinely sincere about wanting to work with Iris. Boss Sherwood, if you could just see..."
Just as Ivy was in a tight spot, Quentin Blackwood interjected, "If your company is in such difficulty, why are you even trying to make deals? If ’sincerity’ is all it takes to get things for free, then we’re sincere, too. How about you give me your company?"
