Chapter 80: Dream Forest (Part 2)

"So, both of you are going to the capital to join the academy?" Marie asked Evan and Elena.

Elena nodded. "Yes. I will contact my family tomorrow and see what they say. Once some people from my family arrive here, I will leave."

Evan also nodded and said, "I will be leaving tomorrow. Since Lia is now safe here, I can leave without any worries."

"What? Why are you leaving so early? Stay here for some time, please," Lia said after hearing that he was leaving tomorrow.

Elena also raised an eyebrow at Evan’s words.

"You don’t have to be in such a hurry. There is still over a month left before the academy starts. You can rest here for a few days, and once people from my family arrive, we can leave together."

Evan shook his head at Elena’s words. Not to mention that he wasn’t very familiar with her yet and didn’t know anything about her family, even if he knew them, he wouldn’t go with them.

The main reason was the people who had attacked Elena. Even if her family sent powerful experts, in case of danger, their priority would be to protect Elena.

He had no intention of going with them and getting slapped to death by a powerful expert simply because he was with them.

Moreover, he was planning to go to the capital through Dream Forest, so it was better to leave early, as it would be more difficult to reach the capital through it than by taking the trade routes.

"I won’t be going to the capital through the trade routes, so it’s better for me to leave a bit early in case I get delayed by something," Evan said to Lia and Elena.

"Not going through the trade routes?" Elena raised an eyebrow in confusion.

But suddenly, she thought of something, and her eyes widened.

"Don’t tell me you are planning to go through the Dream Forest?"

"Indeed," Evan nodded. "There is something I need to do in the Dream Forest, so I will be going through it."

As for what he needed to do, even he did not know. He simply said it as an excuse since he couldn’t say he was going through it because Alfred told him to.

Lia had already told Elena that his grandfather was the leader of their organization, and if he said it was Alfred who told him to go through it, she would definitely think that villain guy was planning to send him to his death.

"Are you crazy or something?" Elena spoke with a serious look. "I know you are strong, but there are many Rank Two magical beasts and monsters inside the Dream Forest that are strong enough to give you a run for your life. Even Rank Two Evolvers go there in parties, and you are going there alone?"

Marie nodded at Elena’s words and added, "I also heard from many people in the city that the Dream Forest is very dangerous."

Evan didn’t deny their words and spoke calmly.

"You are right, but since I am going there, I naturally have my own ways to protect myself from any danger I might face there."

"Protect yourself?" Elena raised an eyebrow and shook her head. "I thought you were smarter than me and weren’t someone who would court death. But it seems we are both the same. I ran out of my home to court death while you are entering the forest to court death. The only way you can protect yourself in Dream Forest as a Rank One Evolver is by having the ability to fly. Don’t tell me you can fly?"

Evan, Marie, and Lia couldn’t help but give Elena a strange look upon hearing her say that she ran out of home to court death, and their mouths twitched.

But soon, Evan couldn’t help but smile.

"We are indeed very different. Because I don’t have any intention of courting so-called death."

Seeing the somewhat smug smile on Evan’s face, Elena’s expression stiffened, and she gulped.

"Don’t tell me you can fly?" She asked in a dry voice.

Evan simply took a bite of steak from his plate and looked at her without saying anything.

Seeing this, Elena’s mouth twitched even harder.

Seeing the awkward look on her organization member’s face, it was Lia who finally spoke.

"Big brother can fly very fast. Before meeting you, we came all the way by flying."

Elena finally couldn’t help it and lowered her head, wondering why she couldn’t control her mouth.

Remembering what she had said about courting death, her eyes twitched, and she stuffed her mouth with food.

Just then, she thought of something and retorted with her mouth full of food.

"Even if you can fly, it must not be easy for you. Flying consumes a lot of mana, and if you run out of mana during an emergency, you would just be courting death."

"You don’t have to worry about it..." Evan waved his hand.

"My skill is a little special and doesn’t consume too much mana. I can fly for a long time without running out of mana."

Elena finally shut her mouth and decided to just stay silent.

Evan shook his head when he saw this but did not say anything and continued to eat his dinner.

Lia was a bit sad after hearing that Evan would be leaving tomorrow, but she didn’t try to stop him as she had matured a lot in the last few days.

After eating dinner and talking for some time with Lia and Elena, Evan returned to his room and once again slumped onto the bed like a log.

Unlike the Dark Forest, the Dream Forest wasn’t divided into an Outer Zone, Inner Zone, and Core Zone.

It wasn’t as big as the Dark Forest, but that didn’t mean it was small.

Moreover, unlike the Dark Forest, where higher-level magical beasts mostly stayed far deeper into the forest, the Dream Forest was different.

Here, a person could encounter Rank One magical beasts shortly after entering the forest.

’Although Dream Forest is not as dangerous as Dark Forest, I should still be careful while inside,’ Evan thought and rubbed his face against the soft pillow again.

"From tomorrow, I will have to sleep inside the forest once again..." He sighed in a low voice and, not long after, once again fell asleep.

The night passed, and a new day arrived.

"Do you have enough food and other necessary things to go into the forest?" Marie asked Evan during breakfast, as in her eyes, he was still just a young kid.

Evan nodded at her question. "I have brought enough food to last for a month. Moreover, even if I run out, I can always hunt something in the forest."

Lia grabbed his hand and asked softly, "When will you come back to see me?"

Evan patted her head and smiled.

"Don’t worry. I will come to see you whenever I get the chance, and I don’t think it will be long before I see you again."

Lia nodded, and soon, they all finished their breakfast.

Elena, Lia, and Marie accompanied Evan to the entrance of Sky Pearl City to say goodbye.

Evan looked at Lia, who had red eyes, and smiled.

"Now, don’t make this kind of face, Vice Leader of the great organization. Otherwise, what will this new member of your organization think about you?"

Elena’s mouth twitched when she heard Evan mention the organization again.

"Don’t forget to come see me soon..." Lia said to Evan.

Evan nodded and took off his Bloom Earring.

After becoming a Rank One Evolver, the earring had become completely useless to him, as his own defense was far higher than the Blaze Barrier that it provided.

While putting the earring on Lia’s ear, he said, "Although it’s not as good as the necklace Grandma gave you, it will still help you."

Lia nodded and gave Evan a peck on the cheek.

Evan then looked at Elena and said, "Member of the great organization, be careful while going to the academy this time and don’t try to court death again."

Elena snorted at his words.

"You should worry about yourself. I’m sure you will get a run for your life inside the Dream Forest."

Evan shook his head at her words, and after saying goodbye to them, he used Wings of Wind and flew away from there, heading toward Dream Forest.

I know there were some problems with this volume, as it’s my first time writing a novel. But I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. The second volume will start from tomorrow, and hopefully, it will be much better.
