Chapter 79: Dream Forest (Part 1)

Marie led Evan and Elena into the living room.

"Please have a seat. I will be back in a minute," She said before going to another room to settle down Lia, who was still sleeping.

After carefully putting her on the bed and covering her with a blanket, Marie kissed her forehead before returning to the living room.

"Thank you once again for bringing my daughter back." She bowed deeply to them. "I know this is abrupt, and you might be tired, but can you tell me what happened?"

"You don’t need to be so polite with us, Aunty," Elena said before looking at Evan, who nodded and began explaining the situation.

He told her everything, from how Lia had been captured by Henry to how he had met her and decided to bring her back himself.

As Marie listened to Evan, her face couldn’t help but turn pale. All this time, she and her husband had been going to the guard office almost every day in the hope of getting any information related to their daughter.

But it turned out that the reason their daughter had disappeared was actually related to someone from the guard office in the first place.

"Those beasts..." Marie gritted her teeth in anger and stood up, ready to go to the guard office and demand an answer.

Seeing this, Elena quickly spoke.

"Aunty, you don’t have to worry about that guy anymore. Before coming here, we went to the guard office, and Evan already exposed that guy, making the guard commander Glen, take action and investigate this matter."

"Guard Commander Glen?" Marie was stunned when she heard Elena’s words.

For normal people like them, Glen was the strongest person in the city, even above the mayor.

Hearing that he was personally taking care of this case truly stunned her.

Seeing her stunned expression, Elena nodded.

"Because someone acted like a thug and caused a big commotion inside the guard office, Commander Glen promised that he would take care of this matter himself and that it wouldn’t affect Lia or your family in any way."

As she spoke, Elena glanced at Evan.

Evan’s mouth twitched slightly when he heard her words.

"I don’t think I acted like a thug. I just..."

Evan wanted to say that he had only broken some of Henry’s bones and acted like a lawless guy inside the guard office.

But that behavior really did seem like something a thug would do, so he simply shut his mouth without saying anything.

Although Marie didn’t understand the entire situation, from their words, she could tell that Evan had gone to the guard office before coming here to make the guard who sold Lia pay for his deeds.

She pursed her lips and opened her mouth to say something but didn’t know what to say.

In the end, she once again bowed to him and spoke in a voice filled with gratitude.

"Thank you... Thank you so much for everything you did for my daughter. I don’t know how to repay your kindness."

Evan shook his head and smiled wryly.

"Aunty, I have already told you that everything I did was because I wanted to do it. If you keep bowing to me like this, it will really make me feel uncomfortable."

Marie paused when she heard his words before smiling.

"All right, I understand..." She then continued, "You must be tired from your journey. Let me show you guys your rooms. You can go and freshen up while I cook something for you."

Evan and Elena nodded and followed Marie to the guest rooms.

After entering his room, Evan first took a long bath before changing into a normal set of clothes and slumping down on the bed.

"There is nothing better than sleeping on a comfortable bed," Evan said as he rubbed his face against the soft pillow.

After a few seconds, he turned around and lay on his back, staring at the room’s ceiling while thinking about his next course of action.

"I can go to the capital through the established trade routes that are often taken by merchants and other people if I want a more comfortable and safe journey..." He muttered before remembering what Alfred had told him.

"Dream Forest..." A thoughtful look appeared in his eyes.

The day before he had left, Evan had sparred against Alfred. At that time, the old man had advised him to go to the capital through the Dream Forest. (Chap—61)

Later that night, Evan had looked for some information about the Dream Forest and found out a few things about it.

From what he found, the Dream Forest wasn’t as big or dangerous as the Dark Forest, but there were still Rank Two magical beasts and monsters inside it.

When he saw that there were Rank Two creatures inside this place, he immediately went to confront Alfred in the middle of the night, asking if that old man wanted to kill his sole grandson.

He still remembered the answer Alfred had given him.

"Although I would love to see a demon like you who disturbed my sleep in the middle of the night die inside that forest, I know it’s not going to happen..." Alfred yawned before adding, "I told you to go through the Dream Forest because you have that stupid skill, Wings of Wind. I still can’t understand how the hell you got a skill that allows you to fly without spending mana."

Evan recalled what Alfred had told him later, and his eyes narrowed.

’No flying-type magical beasts or monsters because of its special environment, huh...’

His eyes narrowed further.

’Although it would be fun to go through the trade routes, which are more comfortable, I think the Dream Forest will be more enjoyable for me.’

A look of anticipation couldn’t help but appear in Evan’s eyes as he thought about this.

After deciding his next course of action, he soon fell asleep, as he hadn’t slept the previous night while keeping watch.

Knock! Knock!

Evan didn’t know how much time had passed before he was woken up by the sound of knocking.

"Coming," He said before standing up with a yawn and going to open the door.

As he opened the door, he saw Lia standing outside with a smile.

"Big brother, Mom said dinner is ready. Let’s go eat together."

Evan smiled when he saw the happy expression on her face and nodded.

He went back to his room and came out after washing his face.

When Evan reached the living room, he saw Elena coming out with Lia, who had gone to call her after him.

Lia led them to the dining room, where Marie was arranging the dishes.

Through the house window, Evan saw that it was already quite late in the evening.

"Where is your father, Lia?" Evan asked when he didn’t see Lia’s father.

"Because Lia went missing, her father went to ask for help from a few of his friends. He is currently out of the city and should return in a day or two," Marie said softly as she served the dishes.

"I see..." Evan nodded and sat down beside Lia.

Once the dishes were served, Marie looked at Evan and Elena and asked.

"So, both of you are going to the capital to join the academy?"
