World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 149: Killed In Seconds (Part 1)
Evan and the others stared at the giant black door before them, their eyes filled with anticipation.
They were excited to fight another Rank Two monster, and at the same time, the fact that they were about to clear a Rank Two dungeon so quickly made their heart leap with joy.
"Be careful." Alice took a deep breath before pushing open the door.
Following her lead, everyone passed through the giant door one after another.
Bang!
As soon as they entered the room, the door closed behind them with a loud bang.
No one paid any attention to the closed door. Instead, they looked at their surroundings.
They were standing in an open grassy field, with a cold breeze blowing across the area. The sky was filled with dark clouds, with the sun hidden behind them, making the environment look somewhat gloomy.
Evan and the others observed their surroundings for only a moment before they felt a cold gaze on themselves and their attention shifted to something else.
They looked at the far end of the grassy field and saw a gigantic monste staring at them with eyes full of disdain, as though they were nothing more than insignificant beings.
"What the hell is that thing?" Kevin asked in a low voice, gulping nervously.
Evan narrowed his eyes slightly as he stared at the monster before him.
A thirty-meter-long, fifteen-meter-tall monster stood before them. Indigo scales covered its entire body, its face resembled that of a crocodile, and its deep-black eyes stared at them with pure disdain. A pair of enormous indigo wings extended from its back, currently folded against its body.
"A Wyvern," Alice said softly, her expression extremely serious as her grip on her sword tightened.
She took a deep breath before speaking firmly.
"Don’t lose focus, and take your positions!"
Hearing Alice’s voice, Liam and the others snapped out of their daze, and their expressions grew serious as well.
Wyverns were also known as Lesser Dragons and were among the strongest monster species, making them extremely difficult to deal with.
However, unlike Alice and the others, who were feeling slightly nervous, Evan’s heart was bursting with joy at the sight of the Wyvern.
Without realizing it, a smile unconsciously appeared on his face, and he began walking toward the monster.
Alice was stunned when she saw this and immediately called out to him.
"Evan, what are you doing?"
Evan seemed not to hear her voice and his gaze remained fixed on the monster in the distance.
’Even before I entered the tenth floor, I had a feeling that there was something good waiting for me here...’ He thought inwardly, barely able to contain his excitement.
’I hope this thing has a Mana Core.’
One of the requirements for Evan to evolve his Wind Monarch skill to Rank Two was obtaining a Rank Two Mana Core from a flying-type monster.
The Wyvern standing before him was also a flying-type monster, meaning it met the requirements for his skill’s evolution.
As long as he killed it and obtained its Mana Core, he would be able to evolve his Wind Monarch skill to Rank Two.
"Dude, what are you doing?" Liam suddenly grabbed Evan’s shoulder and asked seriously. "Do you feel like life isn’t beautiful enough and want to end it so soon?"
Evan snapped out of his thoughts when Liam grabbed his shoulder and he looked at Liam and the others apologetically.
"Sorry, I think I got a little too excited earlier," He said before his expression turned serious. "Let me handle this Wyvern on my own."
"What?" Everyone was taken aback by Evan’s sudden words, their eyes widening in surprise.
Alice shook her head and spoke seriously.
"That’s a Wyvern! It’s already approaching Level 70. Fighting it alone is extremely dangerous."
"I just want to see my limits," Evan replied. "If things get dangerous, I’ll rely on you guys to help me immediately."
Liam and the others exchanged glances and after a moment of thought, Alice finally nodded.
"Alright, but be careful."
A look of curiosity flashed through Alice’s eyes as she also wanted to see just how strong Evan really was.
She had observed his previous fights and noticed that he never seemed to use his full strength against anyone.
Liam and the others felt the same way. They also wanted to see whether Evan could really kill a powerful Rank Two monster alone at his current level.
The Wyvern didn’t attack Evan and the others while they were talking and its eyes remained full of disdain, as though it didn’t consider them worthy opponents.
Evan walked toward the monster and stopped about a hundred meters away from it.
He looked at the towering monster before him, and a faint glint flashed in his eyes.
"I hope your enormous body isn’t just for show and that you actually have a Mana Core inside."
The Wyvern was a Rank Two monster, and its intelligence wasn’t low.
Upon hearing Evan’s words, a cold light flashed in its large eyes, and it unfolded its wings.
With a wingspan of nearly seventy meters, the Wyvern looked like an otherworldly monster capable of destroying anything in its path.
The Wyvern flapped its enormous wings, preparing to take off into the sky.
As a Rank Two monster, it knew that once it took to the skies, these Rank One ants would be completely helpless against it.
As the Wyvern flapped its wings, powerful gusts of wind swept across the entire grassy field.
Evan shook his head when he saw this and took a step forward.
"Sorry, I want to see whether you have a Mana Core or not, so I’m not going to play around with you."
As he spoke, Evan created ten normal Wind Bullets.
The next second, he snapped his fingers and spent four hundred Mana Points to activate Touch of Thunder on each of the ten bullets individually.
The small, light-green bullets crackled with arcs of lightning as they hovered around him.
"Go!"
Evan waved his hand, and all ten bullets shot toward the Wyvern at lightning speed.
When the Wyvern saw the incoming projectiles, it didn’t even attempt to dodge. It simply allowed them to strike its scales because it didn’t sense any danger from the attacks.

The sound of metal clashing against metal rang throughout the field as the Wind Bullets merely left white marks on the Wyvern’s scales without causing any actual damage.
However, instead of feeling dejected, Evan’s lips curled upward when he saw that the Wyvern had allowed all ten bullets to strike it without attempting to dodge.
Just as the fifth and ninth bullets struck the Wyvern, the monster’s expression stiffened, and two notifications flashed before Evan.
[Your target has been paralyzed for two seconds.]
[Your target has been paralyzed for two seconds.]
The paralyzing effect of Touch of Thunder had activated twice, leaving the Wyvern paralyzed for a total of four seconds.
---) Touch of Thunder (Rank Three Level One) Active Skill: Use 40 points of Mana to activate. Upon activation, increases the power of your next move or Skill by 30%. Deals an additional 10% of Lightning damage. When struck by an attack enhanced by Touch of Thunder, there is a 20% chance that the enemy will be paralyzed for two seconds. The paralysis effect doesn’t take effect if the target is three ranks above you.
====
The instant the Wyvern was paralyzed, the boots Evan was wearing flashed as he activated the Haste and Charge skills of his Arastine Boots.
Instantly, his Agility increased by one hundred points, while his Strength increased by one hundred and fifty points.
Evan unfolded his Wings of Wind and, like a missile, shot toward the gigantic Wyvern.
