World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 138: A New Title (Part 2)
"A Level 50 Magical Beast... It was far weaker than I thought," Evan mumbled to himself, as he hadn’t expected the bird to die so easily.
[You have cleared the first floor of the dungeon.]
[You can advance to the second floor.]
As the monster died, two notifications flashed before everyone’s eyes.
Evan glanced around the bird’s body and, seeing that it hadn’t dropped anything, sighed inwardly.
’Even though I have the title Conqueror, which increases the drop rate inside dungeons, we still haven’t gotten anything from all the monsters we have killed so far...’ He descended from the sky and landed beside the giant bird. ’It seems the rumors about this dungeon dropping lots of Mana Cores but very rarely anything else weren’t lies.’
"You killed it faster than I thought," Kevin said as he looked at the portal that had appeared before them.
"It was just a Rank One Magical Beast, after all," Evan replied with a shrug before walking toward the portal.
Alice and the others followed him, and everyone stepped inside.
The world around them spun for a second, and the next instant, they found themselves standing in a forest again.
However, unlike the forest on the first floor, this one looked quite ordinary, with the trees reaching a maximum height of only eight or nine meters.
No one paid much attention to the trees, as their attention was focused on the ground beneath their feet.
The forest floor was riddled with countless head size holes. Evan looked around and estimated that there were thousands of them scattered across the area.
[You have entered the second floor of the dungeon.]
[Kill the Spider Mother to clear the floor.]
Two notifications flashed before Evan’s eyes.
’Kill the Spider Mother to clear the floor?’
Evan raised an eyebrow and looked at Alice and the others.
"So we just have to kill this Spider Mother to advance to the next floor?" He asked as this was the first time he had encountered a floor like this, and he felt it was far too easy.
Kill one monster and proceed to the next floor.
"It’s not going to be that easy..." Kevin shook his head when he saw Evan’s expression. "Floors where we need to kill a specific monster are always tricky. First, we need to find this Spider Mother, and it could be anywhere on this floor."
He paused before sighing.
"I hate these kinds of floors the most. Who knows where that monster is hiding? We will have to search everywhere, and it’ll take a lot of time."
Erza and Liam nodded at Kevin’s words, as they also disliked this kind of dungeon floor.
Just as they were pondering their next move, the ground around them began to tremble slightly.
Erza looked at the holes surrounding them, and her eyes widened.
"Don’t tell me all these holes are..." Before she could finish her sentence, one spider after another rushed out of the holes around them.
The spiders were about the size of basketballs, pitch-black in color, and covered in hard carapaces.
There were hundreds of holes in the ground, and spiders poured out of each one like a flowing river.
Most of the spiders were around Level 25, but there was no shortage of Rank One Spiders that had reached Level 30.
"Holy crap!" Liam couldn’t help but feel goosebumps rise all over his body as he saw thousands of spiders rushing toward them from every direction.
"Stay away from me, you filthy things!" Erza shouted as she smashed a spider that crawled over her leg.
"There are too many of them! We will be overwhelmed by their sheer numbers sooner or later!" Alice exclaimed as she shot out small fireballs, blasting groups of spiders into pieces.
Evan also used Wind Bullets to kill the spiders, but there were simply too many of them. Despite fighting with all their might, they soon found themselves surrounded by thousands of spiders.
A faint green light flashed in Evan’s eyes, and the next second, a rapidly spinning wind field enveloped them all.
Chaotic Wind Field!
All the spiders that approached the wind field were caught in its violent currents and torn apart instantly.
Within seconds, the rapidly spinning wind field was filled with the spiders’ flesh and blood, and even its color began to change.
However, killing the spiders was meaningless, as more and more continued to pour out of the holes.
"We can’t go on like this..." Alice said when she saw their situation.
She looked at the holes around them and frowned slightly.
"Do you guys think the Spider Mother might be hiding inside one of these holes?"
Evan and the others were stunned by Alice’s question, and their expressions turned grim. If she was right and the spider mother was really hiding inside one of the holes, killing it would be extremely difficult.
Taking a deep breath, Alice thought of something and turned to Evan.
"Can you use wind to check whether all these holes are connected to each other?"
Evan raised an eyebrow at Alice’s request but didn’t ask why.
Using the wind, he examined the holes and soon found the answer.
"They are all connected to one another."
Alice’s eyes gleamed slightly when she heard his answer.
"Since they are connected, I should be able to do it."
"What are you thinking?" Erza asked in confusion.
"I am going to test the new skill I exchanged for yesterday using more than half of my points..." Alice said in a low voice. "It should be able to solve our problem."
"A new skill?" Expressions of surprise appeared on Erza and the others’ faces, but they didn’t ask anything further.
"Can you take me high up into the sky?" Alice asked Evan.
Evan was also curious about her skill, so he nodded.
"Sure."
"Kevin, create a strong shield around the three of you. Although I will control my skill, be ready to run away just in case."
When Kevin and the others heard Alice’s words, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding.
Alice paid no attention to their expressions and looked at Evan, her eyes filled with excitement at the prospect of testing her new skill.
"Let’s go."
Evan nodded and grabbed Alice’s hand, carrying her about thirty meters into the sky.
"Is this high enough?" He asked.
Alice nodded and when she looked down, she saw that the wind field Evan had created earlier was still protecting Liam and the others.
Without wasting any time, Alice stretched out her left palm, and a small fireball appeared in her hand.
Evan looked at the fireball curiously but didn’t notice anything special about it.
However, the next second, a burst of Mana erupted from Alice’s body and poured into the fireball.
In just a second, more than eighty percent of her Mana disappeared.
At the same time, the fireball in her hand turned dark red, and Evan could almost see liquid lava flowing inside it.
’It must be a Rank Three skill,’ He thought, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly.
"Hey, you are not planning to destroy this entire floor, are you?" He couldn’t help but ask, as he could feel the terrifying energy brewing inside that tiny fireball.
Even Liam and the others, standing on the ground, could sense its terrifying power. Their bodies stiffened as they wondered whether their friend was planning to send them straight to the afterlife.
"Don’t worry. I can control it," Alice said with a pale face as sweat trickled down her forehead.
Although her face had paled from using almost all her Mana, Evan noticed that her eyes were filled with excitement, as if she couldn’t wait to throw the fireball.
’I didn’t know this gentle-looking girl had such a violent streak,’ He complained inwardly when he saw the excitement in her eyes.
"Try not to blow Liam and the others away," He reminded her before strengthening the Wind Field around them even further.
Alice didn’t reply. Instead, she immediately threw the fireball toward one of the holes in the ground.
Like a meteorite, the fireball streaked through the sky and plunged into the hole.
All the spiders emerging from that hole instantly turned to ash as the fireball continued deeper underground.
When the fireball had descended so far that it could no longer be seen, Alice’s lips curved upward, and she muttered in a low voice.
"Volcanic Eruption!"
