Leon took a step forward and appeared behind the zombie. Sharp bone spikes reacted to his appearance immediately, shooting straight for his torso.

Leon turned the flat of his blade, blocking the attacks. He locked eyes with the Zombie King and activated both Hunter’s Gaze and Mental Dominion.

The ability and the skill struck the intelligent lifeform with a heavy mental blow that made its vision blur.

The Zombie King staggered, suddenly feeling weak and unsteady.

Leon gave it no time to rest. Determined to bully his past oppressor, he even manifested his Epic.

[The Epic—World Ender—is manifesting]

The rioting zombie horde around them quieted. The air seemed to stiffen, and even the Zombie King paused. Its eyes turned to Leon staring at him in confusion, bewildered, and... fear.

"What... what is this?"

Leon slowly walked towards it. "You’re no longer a predator. You’re nothing but a mere zombie."

Remembering the humiliation of being beaten brutally that night, being stabbed in the stomach over a month ago, he was determined to break the zombie.

Not mentally, but physically. Wasn’t it a representation of bones? Then he would shatter it all completely.

That day, Williamsburg was silent. Only occasional hits could be heard as the Zombie King was hit repeatedly until it broke. The King struggled, but could not overcome its adversary.

It commanded its army to overwhelm the human, but it was all for naught. Instilled with the sense of impends doom from the manifesting Epic, they were even weaker than they originally were.

The army fell, and so did their king.

Crack!

Leon’s fist slammed against the Zombie King’s head, and the skull shattered. His fist was bloodied and torn, but he didn’t mind. Gently, he pulled out the green soul crystal and sighed.

"That makes three. Good."

Looking around, he saw the remaining zombies fleeing. Their king was dead, and they were filled with terror.

Leon sighed. "Darkness Descent."

The world turned black. In the end, no zombie escaped. They all died within the dome that stretched through Williamsburg.

As the sky darkened and the dome receded, Selene calmly approached Leon from behind, staring at the mess around him.

"You really went all out," She muttered, something akin to amazement in her voice.

Leon nodded. "It was a good one."

Smiling, he turned around and tossed the crystal to her. "Have that."

She grabbed it, staring at him. "You found another Star Wheel?"

Leon shook his head. "No. That’s for something different. I’ll teach you once we get back."

He looked at the other corpses with yellow or blue crystals on the ground, his eyes glinting.

"Greedy, aren’t you?" She chuckled. "Well, they’re yours. Start digging."

Leon rolled his eyes, sheathed the blade, then made shadowy hands form from each corpse and pluck out their soul crystals.

They were hurled towards him, and he caught them before storing in his storage ring.

"Convenient," Selene said with a faint smile.

"Well, thank you." He nodded. "But I’m sure you can probably do the same later. Ice Golems or something?"

Selene shook her head but didn’t answer. They simply waited together until all the soul crystals had been collected. When Leon finished counting them, he was amazed.

"How many?" Selene asked, seeing the surprise in his eyes.

"Two hundred and eleven Tier Two soul crystals, and fifty-six thousand, eight hundred and one Tier One soul crystals," He answered.

Selene’s eyes narrowed. "You killed over a hundred thousand, then?"

She didn’t even need him to answer the question. "Let’s go back. And thanks for saving my life back there."

Leon nodded and lightly punched her shoulder. "Thanks? We don’t need that. Besides, I’m sure you’d save my neck if was the one being attacked.

"Yeah." Selene nodded, rubbing her shoulder. "Probably."

"Whoa... that doesn’t sound very reassuring."

"It does, I’m simply being practical."

"Practical my ass. You were putting me on a ’maybe’ condition."

Bickering, they made their way back to Floyd. By nightfall, they arrived at the gates and were ushered in respectfully.

When they entered the villa, everyone was already at the dining, chatting and preparing to eat.

Leon waved at them before going upstairs to take a bath and changed his clothes. Selene was the same. Although she didn’t really fight much, her clothes had been stained already.

When Leon got to his room, the first thing he paid attention to was the demon sitting on his bed.

"Woman, it’s surprising that you didn’t follow me today. Why? Finally decided to stop stalking?"

Thyra rolled her eyes. "No? I’m simply giving you free time with your... eh..."

Leon sighed. "Not whatever you’re thinking. Selene is a good friend, undeniably. And a trustworthy battle partner. What else are you thinking in your head?"

Chuckling, she rolled in bed, raising her hips in the air. Leon’s gaze was drawn to the tantalizing curves as he undressed himself.

Shooting him a teasing gaze, she purred. "Well, I’ve read enough books to know something always happens between the CEO and his secretary."

Leon blinked, caught off guard. "Huh? CEO?"

He quickly connected the dots. He was the City Lord, and Selene was the Vice City Lord.

He facepalmed, then headed to the bathroom. "Well, women’s fantasies are always wild. You can keep cooking whatever you want in your head, my love."

A while later, he stepped out of the bathroom and quickly got dressed as he prepared to head out. "Are you coming or staying here?"

Thyra shook her head, her purple eyes glinting. "No. I’m leaving for a few days."

"Huh?"

Leon froze, then spun around in shock. "What? Why...?"

She smiled and stood up from the bed, moving closer to him. "I have some things to address back there. After all, it’s obvious that I rushed back because of you. Problem just three days."

Leon pouted and hugged her. "Sheesh, can’t you just take a leave or something? You’ve been working with them for years, anyway."

"Nope." She hummed, pressing her lips to his chin. "It’s not like work here, Leon. It’s like a second family. Don’t worry, I’ll be back in a jiffy. Then, we can prepare for Earth’s evolution."

Leon nodded, then lowered his head and kissed her.
