Chapter 1085: A Wild Goose Chase
Chapter 1085: A Wild Goose Chase
After finding out that their captive was gone, Tiruru immediately scanned the surroundings for traces related to Lily’s escape.
However, the only thing she found out of the ordinary were empty packs of potato chips and other snacks, littered on top of a table. She was sure they weren’t there before.
“Release the Plague Hounds!” Tiruru shouted. “Our prisoner has escaped!”
The Progenitors of the Plague Faction, including Zabab, appeared in the underground ruins, where Lily was kept.
“There are shoe prints on the ground,” Ilulu crouched down and waved her hand.
A moment later, the footprints left by Maple and Cinnamon glowed with a faint green color. “Follow them!” Zabab ordered coldly.
A moment later, dozens of Plague Hounds barked like mad as they ran after the footprints, which headed away from the ruins.
The Progenitors followed suit, even surpassing the hounds as they flew past them with the intention of capturing whoever freed their prisoner.
“Those shoe prints are quite small,” Tiruru said. “They might belong to children.”
“It doesn’t matter if they are a child, an adult, or a senile old man,” Zabab declared. “They will pay for messing with our affairs.”
“But how did they manage to get to the ruins?” Ilulu asked. “We didn’t sense anything. All we did was momentarily shift our attention to that Pseudo-Progenitor who had just been born. Was this a part of their plan to distract our attention?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Zabab replied coldly. “They will not be getting out of this place alive.”
Soon, the Progenitors, who were flying at great speeds, saw something moving near the horizon.
All of them squinted their eyes to have a better look, and they saw two little girls with pink hair running as fast as they could, like their lives depended on it.
“Found them!” Tiruru sneered. “You brats! Don’t let me catch you or else!”
Maple and Cinnamon glanced behind them but didn’t stop running.
“You won’t catch us!” Maple shouted back.
“If you hurt Maple and Cinnamon, we will cry, you know?!” Cinnamon also shouted. “When we cry, Papa and Mama will get angry. You don’t want Mama and Papa to get angry!”
Ilulu laughed. “I don’t care who your Mama and Papa are. Once they come to rescue the two of you, we will make them regret that they were even born. I’ll twist their necks and feed their bodies to the dogs!”
Maple and Cinnamon looked at Ilulu weirdly.
“Maple, she said that she will twist Mama’s and Papa’s necks and feed them to the dogs,” Cinnamon said. “Are their dogs bigger and stronger than Cerberus and Fenrir?”
“Even if they’re bigger, it won’t really matter,” Maple replied as she continued to run with our sister. “If Mama and Papa are here, they won’t even dare to run after us. Come, sis. Let’s run faster!”
Cinnamon nodded and increased her running speed.
Soon, the two gluttons disappeared from the sight of the Progenitors as their running speed increased by leaps and bounds, leaving the Progenitors to eat their dust.
“… Have you ever seen kids run that fast?” Tiruru couldn’t believe that there existed two children whom they couldn’t catch up to despite the fact that they were flying at full speed.
Even Zabab, the strongest among them, couldn’t believe that someone was actually able to run away from them on their home turf.
“Spread out,” Zabab ordered. “They are only running in a straight line. As long as we predict where they will head off next, we can intercept them!”
The six Progenitors flying alongside him nodded their heads at the same time.
They then spread out, leaving only the Plague Hounds in their pursuit.
However, the moment the Progenitors disappeared, a small portal appeared over the horizon.
After that, a rainbow-colored Anteater walked out of it, glancing at its surroundings.
“Is this really where Maple and Cinnamon went?” The Deity of the Sky, Kazogonaga, looked around and soon spotted hundreds of Plague Hounds running in his direction.
“Oh! Good timing!” Kazogonaga said. “Um, brothers, have you seen two cute girls wander around here? They have pink hair and pink eyes, and they usually carry snacks with them.”
The Plague Hounds, who didn’t plan on having a conversation with the intruder in their realm, lunged at the Anteater, who was politely asking them about the whereabouts of Maple and Cinnamon.
“Did they perhaps steal your food?” Kazogonaga, who saw the Plague Hounds lunging at him, asked. “Um, can we all talk about this peacefully?”
None of the Plague Hounds paid any attention to him and merely opened their fangs in an attempt to bite him.
However, Kazogonaga curled up into a ball, which made the pitiful Plague Hound who tried to bite him cry out in pain as its teeth shattered upon impact.
Several other Plague Hounds experienced the same thing as they rained upon Kazogonaga like the rabid dogs that they were.
Wave after wave of attacks landed on the Anteater’s body, but all it resulted in were the broken teeth of the Plague Hounds, who were now yelping due to the pain that they were
feeling.
When everything finally ended, Kazogonaga returned to his normal form and looked at the Hounds, who were all squirming on the ground as they tried to touch their jaws with their
feet.
“It seems that friendly negotiations have failed,” Kazogonaga said with a sigh. “Since that is the case, it’s time to use a bit of violence so you guys will answer my question.”
The rainbow-colored Anteater then jumped into the air and once again curled itself into a
ball.
Spikes protruded from its body before it started to spin at great speeds.
“You asked for this!” Kazogonaga shouted. “I’m Rolling!”
The spiked wrecking ball descended upon the Plague Hounds with fury.
This made all of them scream in pain as the angered Deity of the Sky bulldozed his way through their ranks.
It didn’t take long before the Plague Hounds regretted their decision to attack the Anteater, who was simply looking for the two little girls like a nanny.
Little did Kazogonaga know that the two adorable gluttons had started to eat some gummy bears while leading the Progenitors of the Plague Faction on a wild goose chase.
