Chapter 1269 - 510: Mech Cleaner_2
Chapter 1269: Chapter 510: Mech Cleaner_2
"After prolonged operations, it will accumulate a large amount of active pollutants."
The projection enlarges, showing the dazzling details on the surface of the sole:
"You need to clean not only the physical dirt but also various dimensional residues, elemental deposits, and occasionally micro-world parasites in the rune gaps."
Vinard’s fingers circled several areas in the projection:
"The work environment in these areas is quite harsh—high temperatures, corrosion, radiation, and unpredictable elemental reactions."
Ron listened to the task list, feeling a silent complaint.
But he also understood that this was his "punishment" from Vinard for being late, as well as a strict test of his abilities.
"Of course," Vinard continued:
"If you find these tasks beyond your capabilities, you can choose to leave. I won’t force anyone to do work beyond their level."
The subtext of this sentence was clear: Either accept the harsh test or give up this rare opportunity.
Uther coughed a few times beside him, and the glow of the Void Remains dimmed noticeably:
"Vinard, I vouch for his abilities. Besides..."
The old professor’s voice grew somewhat weak: "I may not have many opportunities left to speak for students."
This sentence made the atmosphere in the air heavy.
Vinard was silent for a long time, the light in his silver eyes slowly stabilized:
"I will consider your words, Elder Uther."
He looked back at Ron: "Kid, if you’re really ready, come to my base as soon as possible. I will send the coordinates to you via badge."
"But I warn you, there won’t be a second chance this time. If your performance disappoints me..."
Vinard didn’t finish the sentence, but the threat was implicit.
The communication connection slowly interrupted, and the room returned to calm.
Uther turned to Ron, the glow from the Void Remains dimmer than before:
"Vinard has this kind of personality—cold on the outside, warm on the inside. Although strict in words, he truly appreciates genuine talent."
The old professor’s tone carried fatigue:
"Nevertheless, you did make him wait too long this time.
Upon arrival, you will certainly face harsh trials, so be mentally prepared."
Ron nodded: "I understand, Professor. This is a consequence I should bear."
"Let’s go," Uther motioned him to follow:
"I’ll take you to the management center to process the transmission paperwork.
The transmission permission to the Abyss’s sixth layer is quite complex and requires detailed application procedures."
The two of them proceeded slowly along the main path of the observation station.
Ron noticed that as a major passage leading to the Abyss’s sixth layer and even the Otherworld, the observation station appeared uncharacteristically desolate.
Apart from a few researchers and guards, there were almost no other visiting Wizards.
The echoes of their footsteps resounded in the corridor, creating a disquieting emptiness.
"Professor," Ron couldn’t help but ask:
"Why is the observation station so quiet? Logically, it should be a busy transport hub."
The old professor gave a wry smile: "This question... it’s a long story."
They stopped in a resting area, Uther carefully organizing his words:
"First, although the Maze Domain of the Abyss’s sixth layer is the largest official transfer platform, it’s not the only channel."
"The Rainbow Academy of the Seven Major Schools specializes in dimensional research.
They possess independent and more stable ’quadrant pathways,’ allowing direct access to certain specific Otherworlds, completely bypassing the Abyss system."
The old professor’s voice carried helplessness:
"Additionally, some ancient Wizard Clans also possess unknown ancient Teleportation Arrays.
These private passages, while riskier, have the advantage of not requiring official scrutiny."
They continued forward, passing through a closed area marked ’Military Passage’:
"Moreover, Cassandra has established a pure military ’Assault Base’ to support the Fourth Quadrant war."
"There are large military Teleportation Gates that lead directly to the front lines, diverting personnel and materials related to the war further away from the observation station."
Ron nodded thoughtfully, beginning to understand the reasons for the observation station’s desolation.
"Lastly, and most importantly..."
Uther’s tone became more serious:
"Although I am nominally the station chief, security and transmission permissions are actually controlled by Cassandra’s three Dark Sun Level exploration teams."
They arrived at a heavy metal door marked ’Management Center’:
"The ’Eye’ team specializes in monitoring Abyssal changes;
the ’Recovery’ team is responsible for recovering lost civilization relics;
the ’Border Guard’ team prevents the surge of Abyssal Creatures."
"All transmissions through the observation station must undergo extremely cumbersome review processes."
Uther sighed lightly:
"Many Wizards who don’t want trouble prefer other methods.
This makes the observation station more a pure scientific outpost than a busy transport hub."
The door sensed Uther’s identity and automatically slid open.
Inside was a control room full of a sense of technology, walls lined with large screens monitoring the situation of the Abyss’s various layers in real-time.
A middle-aged woman in a deep blue uniform stood up to greet them, her badge indicating she was the deputy leader of the ’Border Guard’ team.
"Professor Uther." She respectfully bowed: "What assistance do you need?"
"Process the transmission permission for Lecturer Ralph to go to Great Wizard Weinard’s base."
Uther briefly explained the purpose.
The deputy leader’s eyes showed a slight surprise but quickly returned to professionalism:
