Chapter 1268: Chapter 510: Mech Cleaner

The next day, Ron took out the Iron Wrench Emblem that Vinard had given him in his study.

He took a deep breath and slowly infused magic power into the emblem.

The process to establish communication took much longer than expected.

The runes on the surface of the emblem lit up one by one.

But the activation of each rune was accompanied by a long wait, as if the signal had to cross countless barriers to reach its destination.

After three minutes, the emblem finally established a stable connection.

However, what came from the other side of the signal was an unsettling noise:

The sound of metal hammering, the shrill alarms of energy overload, and the low rumble of some large mechanical device in operation.

Occasionally, technical instructions in the ancient wizard language could be heard, the tone urgent and full of anxiety.

"Wait... it’s not the right time now..."

Great Wizard Vinard’s slightly irritable voice came from the other side of the communication, but it was clearly not directed at Ron:

"The seventh interface of the energy conduit shows resonance anomalies, immediately perform frequency correction! Damn it, at a time like this..."

It took nearly another two minutes for the noise to gradually subside.

Vinard’s void remains projection finally appeared in the air, but his state was noticeably more haggard than the last meeting.

Several new energy burn marks had appeared on the silvery-gray metal shell, and the armor plate on his left shoulder had even shown obvious molten deformation.

The blue crystal core on his forehead was flickering irregularly, indicating that his computing system was under great stress.

"Oh?"

Vinard’s electronic voice was filled with sarcasm, his silver eyes coldly scanning Ron:

"I thought that Lecturer Ralph had forgotten that we still had an agreement between us.

Making a great wizard wait for you for several months, you really have quite the airs."

This almost mocking tone made Ron realize that the situation was worse than he had anticipated.

He hurriedly spoke to explain: "Professor Vinard, I sincerely apologize. This period of time, indeed, some unexpected situations arose..."

"Unexpected situations?"

Vinard interrupted him:

"Young man, time is more precious to a great wizard than you can imagine.

My project will not indefinitely wait for anyone’s ’personal arrangements.’

The light of the void remains projection became more unstable:

"Especially when this project is at its most critical stage, any delay could cause hundreds of years of effort to be ruined."

A loud bang from the background seemed to confirm the seriousness of his words.

The atmosphere in the air became extremely awkward.

Ron could sense that Vinard was seriously considering whether to cancel this agreement.

For a great wizard, time is indeed the most precious resource, and his delay had evidently touched the other’s bottom line.

At this delicate moment, a familiar figure emerged from behind Ron.

Professor Uther’s void remains radiated a gentle silver glow, although dimmer than Vinard’s, carried a kind of dignified authority accumulated over the years.

"Vinard, it seems you’ve encountered some technical difficulties?"

Upon hearing this familiar voice, Vinard’s attitude underwent a subtle change.

Though still indifferent, the hostility in his tone was markedly diminished:

"So it’s Senior Uther..." his void remains nodded slightly: "Indeed, there have been some unforeseen challenges."

"But this cannot serve as a reason for some people to miss an appointment."

Vinard’s gaze returned to Ron, the dissatisfaction in his tone still evident:

"This kid indeed has good talent, but that does not mean he can treat agreements as child’s play."

Uther lightly coughed, taking the communicator into his hand:

"Vinard, it was I who asked him to prioritize the tasks on my side."

"Moreover..." The old professor’s void remains flickered:

"Ron received the Blessing of Revelation during the Historian’s ascension ceremony. I think this outcome should be worth the wait."

Hearing the term "Blessing of Revelation," Vinard’s silver eyes flickered noticeably.

He obviously understood what it meant.

The foundation blessing represents the recipient’s recognition of near "rule-level" talent in the related field.

"Blessing of Revelation..."

Vinard repeated the term, the sarcasm in his tone gone, replaced by deep thought:

"Double enhancement of time perception and historical insight... this truly is a rare achievement."

He was silent for a moment, then looked back at Ron:

"Since you have been granted recognition by the Apocalypse, your ’cautiousness’ is understandable."

But the words that followed made Ron’s heart sink:

"However, opportunity always comes with a cost.

The original plan I prepared for you was to assist with some relatively simple routine maintenance tasks."

Vinard’s voice turned cold: "But now, circumstances have changed."

Uther seemed to anticipate something, taking the initiative to ask: "Vinard, what do you want him to do?"

"Since Lecturer Ralph so ’cherishes time,’ I suppose he won’t mind proving his sincerity with some extra work."

Vinard brought up a three-dimensional projection, showing the underside structure of the Star-forged Titan.

The massive mech’s footplates were covered with countless intricate rune circuits, each flickering with different colored energy lights.

"The cleaning and maintenance of the Star-forged Titan’s footplates will be your main task during the first week after you arrive."

Vinard’s tone carried a hint of mischievous pleasure:

"Don’t underestimate this task—the Titan’s footplates directly contact various complex geological environments, from corrosive acid swamps to highly radioactive crystal plains.
