Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 426 - 314: Orthodox Wizard Isaac
Chapter 426: Chapter 314: Orthodox Wizard Isaac
Isaac accepted the Magic Book, and though he hadn’t yet seen if its contents would help his research, he immediately expressed his gratitude.
After all, it was a kind gesture.
"It’s nothing. Just stay on the right path from now on and trade less with the Outer Gods." Olisti waved his hand, speaking in a casual tone.
"Yes." Isaac nodded firmly in agreement.
But inwardly, he disagreed. ’My dealings with the Outer Gods are hardly simple transactions. Besides, it’s impossible to stop now. I’ve traded with them so many times and offended a great many of them. If I don’t take this chance to let the snowball keep rolling...’
’...once the protection of the Gate of Legends is gone, I’ll probably be blown to bits!’
’I could save my skin by staying in the Real World and never setting foot outside, but that’s not the kind of life I want.’
’Besides, even with my current setup, it’s not like I won’t be able to put up a fight in the future. The Virtual Deity is only Tier Four because I am only Tier Four. In the future, I can definitely create a Tier Five, Tier Six, or even higher Virtual Deity!’
’As long as this trump card stays relevant, my strength won’t be anything to scoff at.’
Of course, he couldn’t tell Olisti any of this. So, after his affirmative reply, Isaac surveyed the laboratory. A flicker of surprise crossed his face—it wasn’t what he had imagined...
Although Olisti was the sort of academic Wizard who was constantly immersed in his research, his life wasn’t a complete mess like most of his peers. On the contrary, his laboratory was immaculate.
Even the discarded manuscript pages on his desk were laid out in a neat stack.
The Magic Cauldron area—a place Legendary Wizards usually found impossible to keep clean—was also spotless. The Magic Cauldron used for brewing Magic Potions radiated a kind of refined potency, a stark contrast to Isaac’s own cauldron, which was caked in grime and emanated a strange odor.
It was clearly cleaned on a regular basis.
Yet, its efficacy hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
’It wasn’t as if my own Crucible was dirty because I was too lazy to clean it. And even if I were, wouldn’t Liu Li and the others handle it?’
The root of the issue lay in a peculiarity of Legendary Wizards. A Magic Cauldron is like a master stock—the older and more seasoned it gets, the more "flavor" it has, and the more powerfully it enhances Alchemy.
Yet, this rule seemed to break down when it came to Olisti. From the outside, his pristine Magic Cauldron looked brand new, but it exuded an incredibly Mysterious aura.
Anyone in the know could tell at a glance that the Magic Cauldron’s efficacy hadn’t decreased at all; in fact, it had grown even stronger!
Isaac couldn’t help but be amazed. ’As expected of a master. His technical skill is truly on another level!’
"What do you think? Surprising, isn’t it?" Olisti asked, a hint of pride on his face as he observed Isaac’s expression.
To the world, he was known for his achievements in the Astrology School and the Time School. But only the Legendary Wizards who knew him personally understood that his greatest accomplishment was, in fact, his immaculate equipment.
Not everyone has the ability to break the rules and forge their own path. Take this Magic Cauldron, for instance. Forget a Tier Five Legendary Wizard; even a Tier Six might not be able to accomplish this!
"I am. It’s incredible," Isaac nodded without hesitation, his eyes filled with admiration.
He’d actually tried to go down this path himself at the beginning. ’I’m no neat freak,’ he thought, ’but a Magic Cauldron is used to brew Magic Potions. It’s one thing for the ones I sell, but for the ones I use myself, I’d prefer them to be clean.’
’Unfortunately, even with the help of my Golden Finger, the solution I found was simply too complicated, and I eventually gave up.’
And if Isaac found it complicated with the help of his Golden Finger, it would be even more troublesome for other Wizards who didn’t have cheats. The fact that Olisti had managed it was truly remarkable.
But his reaction was limited to surprise. Years ago, Isaac might have eagerly discussed the matter with Olisti, but after so much time, he had grown accustomed to his grimy Crucible.
’Besides,’ he reasoned, ’the Magic Potions I brew are either sold or given away. I hardly ever use them myself, so there’s no need to worry.’
’Most importantly, this rule doesn’t apply to everything. Newer tools used in experiments, like scalpels and beakers, as well as everyday items, don’t have such a requirement.’
’If they did, I’d have a complete breakdown...’
After a couple more glances, Isaac’s attention shifted back to the Artificial Divinity. Compared to everything else, this was what interested him the most.
Seeing this, Olisti raised an eyebrow but wasn’t particularly surprised. After all, Isaac was a Mad Witch; it was only natural for him to lack reverence for Deities. Especially since the very thing he was researching was a method to control and enslave them.
But unlike his previous generosity, this time Olisti didn’t offer Isaac any related materials.
"If you’re interested in Artificial Divinity, you can come and research it with me after you’ve taken care of your business. I can’t give you any other materials. Research on Artificial Divinity is, on the surface, very strictly controlled. We have to consider the Deities, after all. If you’re truly interested, you can submit an application when you leave. For you, it shouldn’t be difficult."
Isaac nodded. He knew that already. As for whether he would actually apply, that remained to be seen.
While it was true that his earlier Analysis had been highly efficient and yielded a great deal of information, none of the projects Isaac was researching now that he was Tier Four were simple. Each one required an immense investment of his time and energy. Whether Artificial Divinity was worth that kind of deep dive was still up in the air.
Over the next while, Isaac and Olisti had an in-depth discussion about their research into Divinity, and both were quite satisfied with the exchange. Isaac officially determined that his need for Artificial Divinity was minimal. It was useful, but not by much.
After all, his Virtual Divinity and the Artificial Divinity were not on the same path. There were few similarities, making it unworthy of a significant investment of his energy.
However, while Isaac hadn’t taken an interest in Artificial Divinity, Olisti had taken an interest in Isaac. Through their brief conversation, Olisti discovered that Isaac wasn’t at all the crazed man rumors made him out to be.
When it came to pure research, he was even more disciplined than the vast majority of traditional Wizards!
After all, even without taking the path of a Mad Witch, Legendary Wizards had plenty of shortcuts available to them, especially the two ultimate tools: [Legend] and [Miracle]!
Many Wizards became overly reliant on them, habitually turning to them to solve any problem they encountered in their research until it became a path of dependency. But Isaac wasn’t like that. He was genuinely, properly conducting research!
And what Olisti admired most were Wizards who truly dedicated themselves to research.
To that, Isaac could only say that when it came to changing his image, he was dead serious.
