Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 420 - 308: Trist is on a Killing Spree
Chapter 420: Chapter 308: Trist is on a Killing Spree
Compared to weaving a Virtual Divinity, the process of creating a Divine Spirit Book was slightly more complex. The first step was still one of the staples of a Legendary Mage: tossing hundreds of materials into a Magic Cauldron based on intuition and letting them slowly stew. For Isaac’s Golden Finger version, however, the required materials numbered in the thousands!
It had to be stewed for a full six days, six hours, six minutes, and six seconds!
Not a second more or less would do.
After the stewing, the result was merely the base for the Divine Spirit Book. Next, three rituals were required to weave Divine Power into the book, one by one. The amount of Divine Power woven in each ritual varied depending on its Divine Power Attribute.
And after the three rituals, it still wasn’t finished!
What was obtained at this stage was only a prototype of the Divine Spirit Book, not yet possessing the power to bind a Deity. For it to truly take form, it required at least three True Gods to sign a contract with it. Only after acquiring their Divine Power could it bind other Deities.
’If the Ten Divine Books are this much trouble, I can’t even imagine how difficult the higher-level Hundred-God, Thousand-God, or even Ten-Thousand-God versions must be!’
’But the harder, the better. The more difficult it is, the more powerful it proves to be!’
With a hint of anticipation, Isaac quickly calmed himself. He set out the Crucible and, following his intuition, began adding the materials—some individually, others in batches—stirring continuously.
The Alchemy of a Legendary Mage was not as rigid as an Arcanist’s. Most concoctions had no fixed procedure; the entire process was guided by intuition. If your intuition was right, the concoction succeeded. If it was wrong, you failed.
This placed a high demand on the Wizard’s personal skill.
For Isaac, however, it wasn’t so troublesome. In addition to following his intuition, he could also check the fault tolerance rate of his Golden Finger. If the rate dropped, his intuition was wrong. If it didn’t, he was on the right track.
Of course, the greatest benefit was that even if the fault tolerance rate dropped, it had no real impact. That’s because the drop in the rate was precisely what was used to compensate for Isaac’s mistakes. As long as it didn’t drop to zero, there was no possibility of failure.
And so, time slowly passed. As Isaac tossed one material after another into the Magic Cauldron, which bubbled with green froth, a Mysterious power began to fill the underground laboratory...
...
Meanwhile, as Isaac was busy brewing the Divine Spirit Book, Elf Bow Trist was on a killing spree in an Underground Palace!
Giant Troll Valley - Fourth Level
Compared to the Wolf Howl Dungeon, the terrain in the Giant Troll Valley was relatively uniform. Every level was a valley, the only difference being that they grew deeper the further down one went. Furthermore, starting from the fourth level, there was a limit on party size.
The maximum was four people, making the difficulty considerably high!
Of course, for Virtual Deities like Trist, as long as it wasn’t the final level, the difficulty was nothing special.
In the valley, three sturdy, ferocious Tree Men, each seven meters tall and two meters wide, formed a wall that blocked all of the Giant Trolls’ attacks!
It was worth noting that although the Tree Men were temporary Summoned Creatures, they possessed and could actively use Authority. And while they were just as tough and thick-skinned, this made them much stronger than the Werewolves from the Wolf Howl Abyss, which could only rely on Barbaric Strength.
Of course, as Trist’s Summoned Creatures, their Authority did not exceed the scope of her own power. All three Tree Men possessed the Authority of "Hunting," which greatly Enhanced the attack power of their vines and granted them more tactical options.
For example, they could launch seeds that would embed themselves in the Void and the earth to absorb Magic Power. Once a seed had absorbed enough, it would sprout tough vines to bind any approaching creature and slowly strangle it to death!
However, strangulation was too inefficient. These Tree Men mostly just used the first part of the ability: the binding.
Because the moment a creature was bound by their vines, a Divine Power Arrow would shoot out from the dense foliage of the Tree Men to finish it off!
Against Trist’s Divine Power Arrows, the regeneration the Giant Trolls were so proud of had no effect!
The Giant Trolls charged forward in waves, only to fall one after another, their flesh and blood transforming into Magic Power to be absorbed by the illusory Virtual Divinity.
On this penultimate level of the Underground Palace, only one Giant Troll was Tier Four—and it was a Pseudo-Tier Four that couldn’t even use Authority!
To Trist, it was nothing more than a giant walking battery. She didn’t even have to lift a finger; the Tree Men captured it, bound it securely, and let the Virtual Divinity devour its flesh and blood.
If the Underground Palace’s refresh rate didn’t depend on the strongest Giant Troll dying, Trist could have used the creature and its ridiculously powerful regeneration to feed the Virtual Divinity to its absolute limit!
But even so, it was just a matter of a few more arrows.
Among the current Virtual Deities, only Mephisto could match Trist’s combat efficiency. This was to be expected, as Trist was a more recent version compared to the others.
She was also the combat Servant Demon Isaac had prepared for himself, unlike Mephisto and the Fighting God, who were created more casually.
Never mind anything else, her ability to summon Tree Men alone was enough to wipe the floor with Mephisto and the Fighting God!
’The Divine Power to summon Tree Men can only call forth one Tier Four Tree Man at a time, but a Deity’s Divine Power is practically infinite! So while I can only summon one at a time, there’s no limit to how many times I can summon them!’
’A premium, no-limit summoning Skill!’
’It’s all about the mechanics, get it?!’
Of course, even with such a mechanic, it wasn’t *that* overpowered. While Divine Power was nearly infinite, the amount a Divinity could handle at once was limited. Given the strength of Trist’s Divinity, she could only summon Tree Men three times in rapid succession.
Therefore, while inexhaustible Divine Power was a basic ability for all Deities, the only ones who could truly use it without limit were the Demon Gods. This was because they drew their Divine Power—or rather, their Magic Power—from a Dimension World.
The resilience of those things was far greater than that of a Divinity.
Although channeling an immense amount of Magic Power in a short time could cause the interior of a Dimension World to collapse...
...a Dimension World was infinitely large. A bit of damaged Space was like a human shedding a flake of skin—it had no effect whatsoever.
This was one of the reasons Trist was only grinding on the fourth level of the Giant Troll Valley.
Well, the other reason was that Isaac had forbidden her from going any deeper. It was now basically confirmed that the moment a Virtual Deity set foot in those lower levels, the local Demon God would flip the table and just throw a massive Tier Five Demon at them.
And so, Trist continued grinding in the Giant Troll Valley for three straight days, pushing the Demon God behind the dungeon to its wit’s end. Especially when It saw the Virtual Divinity being rapidly charged, It vaguely began to realize something...
On that thing, It sensed the aura of the Mad Witch...
