Chapter 400 - 294: A God Will Also Die If Killed
Chapter 400: Chapter 294: A God Will Also Die If Killed
Isaac roamed within the Mysterious Sea, searching for the mysterious power it held. Outside, the Staff of Deformation watched as Isaac’s eyes suddenly glazed over, and a triumphant smirk spread across his face.
To this day, this move of his had never failed. It was a trump card even more important and powerful than the Magic Staff in his hand!
Of course, the technique had a significant drawback: it could only trap an enemy and possessed no actual offensive power.
Therefore, he needed to coordinate with his Staff of Deformation in battle. This combination of control and offense had made him virtually unstoppable, and he naturally intended to use it now against Isaac.
However, just as he raised the Staff of Deformation, before he could make a move, Jörmungandr stopped him.
"That’s enough. Don’t waste your effort. Your petty tricks are useless against him. He can break free whenever he wishes. Besides, with your level of power, it’s doubtful you could even harm him."
As he spoke, Jörmungandr glanced at the Master of Blood standing guard before Isaac. He could tell that the Staff of Deformation was on a similar power level to the Master of Blood. With it protecting Isaac, the Staff of Deformation wouldn’t be able to land a single blow.
He might even be killed by the Master of Blood in a counterattack!
This was because the Staff of Deformation was human; his Human Nature held sway while his Divinity was suppressed. While this granted him a stronger sense of self, it also meant his control over Divine Power would always be a notch below.
The Master of Blood, on the other hand, was different. Its Divinity had completely devoured its Human Nature. Though it had lost its sense of self, its control over Divine Power had reached an unprecedented level. As a combat-oriented Servant Demon, the Master of Blood was far superior to the Staff of Deformation!
"But... aren’t you here, sir?" The Staff of Deformation’s face was etched with resentment. He truly didn’t want to let this rare opportunity slip away!
The shock from what had just happened was simply too immense!
His immense power, comparable to that of a Deity, had been utterly crushed by a single glance from that man!
He couldn’t unleash even a fraction of it!
It was absolutely terrifying!
He never wanted to experience something like that again!
That’s why, if possible, he wanted Isaac dead!
Deader than dead!
Jörmungandr caught the murderous intent and fear in the Staff of Deformation’s eyes and shook his head inwardly. ’No wonder Isaac wants to completely replace Human Nature with Divinity. A Deity that possesses a sense of self is truly too dangerous.’
However...
’How does Isaac manage to control Divinity?’
While holding back the Staff of Deformation, Jörmungandr curiously sized up the Master of Blood. Normally, he would do his utmost to avoid anything potentially related to the Knowledge of the Outer Gods. ’But with such an incredible Creation right before my eyes... as a Wizard, it’s truly difficult to stay true to my principles!’
"Give it up. It’s impossible. Even if we joined forces, we couldn’t kill him. Besides, what makes you so sure he only has that one Master of Blood?"
At these words, the Staff of Deformation fell silent, a conflicted expression on his face.
"Enough. There’s no need to worry. If he wanted you dead, he would have struck already instead of giving you a chance to act. Just stay put. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen to you," Jörmungandr said, glancing at the still-resentful Staff of Deformation, his voice growing cold.
The Staff of Deformation was silent for a moment before nodding wordlessly. His heart sank to rock bottom as he lowered his head, his expression desolate.
In that moment, he was once again forced to confront the immense gap between himself and these Wizards!
’If only...’
’I were a Wizard, too...’
Inevitably, the thought began to take root in the Staff of Deformation’s mind...
However, Isaac, who was still within the Mysterious Sea, knew nothing of this.
By now, as time passed, Isaac had explored most of this mysterious Space and had gained a general understanding of it.
’This must be the outer edge of the Mysterious Sea from the legends.’
The Mysterious Sea, according to Legend, contains a shortcut to becoming truly Mysterious!
’Yes, another shortcut!’
But unlike the shortcuts of the past, the cost of this one was astonishingly high!
There were no records of exactly how high the cost was, as information and Knowledge concerning the very source of the Mysterious could not be recorded in any form. All Isaac knew was that if one found this shortcut in the Mysterious Sea, then in exchange for a certain price, one could become omnipotent!
As long as you could afford the cost!
This didn’t particularly interest Isaac. It was true that he liked shortcuts, but he preferred those with a significant—or rather, a repayable—cost. Shortcuts that were obviously bottomless pits were ones he wouldn’t even spare a second glance.
That wasn’t to say the Mysterious Sea was entirely without value. If he could leave some trace of himself here, he would undoubtedly gain a greater mastery over the Mysterious!
He might even be able to master Mysterious Trace at Tier Four, just like Jörmungandr!
When that time came, the Trial of the Endless Tower would surely be much easier for him!
However...
’That’s a bit difficult...’
Isaac looked down at his body, which was gradually becoming transparent, and his brow furrowed slightly. Only his consciousness had been sent here, not his physical form, so his abilities were extremely limited.
’At the very least, leaving a trace behind is impossible.’
Watching his body grow even more transparent, Isaac let out a soft sigh. He abandoned the idea of leaving a trace and resumed his exploration. This time, he began studying the connection between Superpowers and the Mysterious Sea.
Superpowers, another product of the Wizards—and a rather failed one at that.
