Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 380 - 281: The Positioning of the Great Creation
Chapter 380: Chapter 281: The Positioning of the Great Creation
[Completely clear any one Underground Palace!]
As the saying goes, the fewer the words, the bigger the deal. In this plane, the Wilderness Dungeon, the overall powers were, as the name suggests, divided into the Wilderness and the Underground Palace.
The Wilderness was home to the various Sects led by Evil Gods, while the Underground Palace housed the various Demons led by Demon Gods!
As for humans...
They could only survive in the cracks between these two great powers.
And behind every Underground Palace stood at least one Demon God. This alone revealed the difficulty of Isaac’s mission.
Although the Wilderness Dungeon stipulated that Tier Four was the upper limit of power in this world, Deities could forcibly elevate the power of their Saints to the level of Tier Five!
It came at the cost of the Saint’s life, the duration wasn’t long, and the Deity involved would suffer a counterattack from the great Creation, the Endless Tower, and pay a certain price afterward.
But no matter how severe the cost, one thing was certain—both the Underground Palaces and the Sects had the ability to flip the table!
However, it wasn’t impossible. Though he couldn’t win a contest of absolute strength, victory through strategy was still possible. After all, the price for flipping the table was not small. Isaac just needed to make the Existence behind the Underground Palace weigh the pros and cons and act before it had a chance to flip the table. Then he could achieve his goal.
But that was easier said than done. As for how to do it specifically...
That would require careful planning. He especially had to be cautious about which Underground Palace to tackle!
WHOOSH~
While he was thinking, the meteor that was Isaac drew closer and closer to the ground. He quickly snapped back to reality, his gaze hardening as figures on the ground converging on his landing point came into view.
The bad news: it looked like he was about to be surrounded the moment he landed.
The good news: their strength was nothing special. The strongest was only Tier Two.
The great news: although it was a Tier Four High Tower, not everyone inside was Tier Four. The probability of passing the Trial had just gone up a little.
"Authority Magic: Arrogant Turtle~"
Just as he was about to touch the ground, Isaac made a slight gesture with his finger. An invisible ripple spread out, and the people on the ground rushing toward him suddenly stopped, frozen in place!
As the glow covering his body faded, Isaac slowly descended to the ground.
RRRIP~
With the sound of tearing flesh, Harmon emerged from the back of Isaac’s head. The eye on its palm split open and glanced at the black-robed Cultists surrounding them. It blinked in confusion. "Given the background, isn’t the Wilderness the territory of their Sects? Why are they still wearing black robes and wrapped up so tightly?"
"Professional attire?"
"What a sucky uniform." Harmon gave its simple evaluation. Then, a red light flashed in the eye on its palm. Ribbons intermixed with black specks of light floated out from the Cultists’ bodies, converging beneath Harmon’s claw to be swallowed in a single gulp!
Tier Three Magic: Soul Extraction!
The most wicked of Black Magic!
In the past, anyone who used this move would have been hunted down by the Church and the great Empires!
But times had changed. It had now become a common spell, openly available in the libraries of various Wizard Organizations. Tier Three Mages could learn it freely, and even Tier Two Mages could learn it by spending a little extra money.
This was partly because the status of Wizards had undergone a world-shaking change, receiving a massive boost. Also, the spell itself had become increasingly useful even outside of combat; it was exceptionally efficient for both production and intelligence gathering.
As its value increased, the ban on it naturally and gradually disappeared. Nowadays, the spell’s circulation was only prohibited within the direct sphere of influence of the Teaching Country.
That’s right—only its circulation was forbidden, not its use.
What could be done? This was the era of Wizards, after all.
But back to the matter at hand. After Harmon devoured the Cultists’ souls, the blood-red eye in its palm narrowed slightly. A stream of information then flowed into Isaac’s mind, and a look of understanding flashed in his eyes.
From the minds of these Cultists, Isaac had obtained a good deal of useful intelligence—
For instance, humans in this world were faring very poorly. Their only way out was to become Cultists; only then could they have a sliver of a chance to survive in the face of an out-of-control Underground Palace.
Yes, their only way out!
The humans of the Wilderness Dungeon had no Extraordinary lineage!
Or more precisely, they had lost their Extraordinary lineage. According to the records of the Terra Empire, although the humans of the Wilderness Dungeon couldn’t compare to the Underground Palaces or the Wilderness Sects, there were still some Transcendents among them, the strongest of whom could even reach Tier Four!
But now, the information scoured from the minds of the Cultists claimed they had no Extraordinary lineage...
’Interesting...’ Isaac narrowed his eyes. This was likely the biggest discovery of his trip so far. The other pieces of intelligence seemed rather ordinary in comparison—mostly just the surrounding terrain and distribution of power, which Isaac could easily figure out with a simple detection spell.
After briefly organizing the new information in his mind, Isaac recalled Harmon and transformed into a streak of light, flying toward the nearest human settlement. The next moment, the streak of light vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a few dozen lifeless bodies lying silently on the ground.
...
Before long, Isaac arrived at the nearest human settlement. It was established in a cave beneath a sand dune and was very well hidden. The entrance only appeared at specific times; the rest of the time, it was buried by sand—a truly incredible geographical feature.
From this point alone, it could be considered a type of Miracle.
Unfortunately, even so, they had been discovered by the Sects...
Slipping silently into the cave beneath the dune, Isaac concealed his form and strolled among a crowd of people. They were clad in rags, sallow and emaciated, with vacant eyes. A faint light swirled in his own eyes, and finally, his steps halted before the few individuals who still had a spark of light in theirs.
But with just a single glance, Isaac sighed in disappointment. The few people who still held hope in their hearts were discussing which Evil God to believe in...
Apparently, they planned to throw in their lot with a Sect; they were just deciding which one.
After all, not all Evil Gods were the same. Some were brutal, demanding blood sacrifices every other day. Others were relatively benevolent, only drawing a certain amount of lifespan—a sustainable form of exploitation.
After a lap around the human settlement, Isaac left.
He had no intention of saving them. Firstly, they were already preparing to turn to an Evil God. Although it was a choice born of desperation, the thought had already taken root. To a Deity, that was an opening, and it could lead to intelligence leaks down the line.
Secondly, compared to saving them or clearing an Underground Palace, Isaac was now more curious about the current state of the Wilderness Dungeon. It was slightly different from what he had imagined of the Endless Tower...
’But what exactly is different... I’ll need to look into it further...’
In Isaac’s mind, his understanding of the Great Creation’s nature became a little clearer...
